2nd Transmission [Video]

[The screen flickered for a second before turning on. It showed Donnie in his room, having moved enough things out of the way that his bo staff wouldn't hit it. He was moving through a few katas, moving his staff expertly and quickly through various moves that only a highly skilled ninja could follow. He may not be in his world anymore, but he was in some world that could have some kind of danger appear any second. He needed to be prepared for anything.

You've been playing with your stick all day, when are you gonna quit? It's boring to watch you after the first hour?

Look Kamemon, I have to train. If I don;t my ninja skills will get rusty, and while I'm here I certainly don't want that happening. Besides I do this on a daily basis at home, this is just what I do.

Ugh, fine. I'm just gonna keep playing with your D-Terminal until your done.

...Your what? You didn't turn anything on, did you?

Ugh... no. [Well except the camera, but who would watch something as boring as a fifteen-year-old humanized turtle play with a giant stick?]

....Actually, ya did pal.

[Gomamon snickers from where he's lying on Hiccup's bed on his stomach, with the D-Terminal propped up on one of the pillows. Hiccup had been reading something- or attempting to, rather, since he still can't fully piece together written English- and looks over when he hears Gomamon speak.]

Gomamon, who are you talking to...?

Oh hey, it's that kid with the weird name again! How's it going weird kid and Gomamon?

I thought that you said that you didn't turn anything on!

Yeah, I lied.

[Donnie is just going to glare at Kamemon and resist hitting him with his staff.]

...Hiccup. It's Hiccup.

I 'unno, weird kid seems to fit ya to a T, Hic!

[Gomamon grabs the D-Terminal with his claws and jerks it away when Hiccup makes a grab for it, quickly making his way to the other side of the bed to get out of his way.]

S'goin' same as it ever was. We've been sittin' in this apartment doing nothing for hours!

So what was your partner up to just then, huh?

In his world, he's some kind of ninja or whatever it's called, which means he fights a lot. In is words... [Clears throat and does his best Donnie imitation] "I need to train or my skills will be rusty, even though a giant stick is not match for a bunch of Digimon who can crush me into a pancake if I run into one."

That is not what I said! And that was the worst imitation of me I ever heard.

Blah, blah, blah, that's all I'm hearing.

Grr...

A....ninja?

[Well, definitely never heard of that before. He didn't see Donnie practicing before so he's not totally sure what Kamemon is talking about, but he does notice the bo staff he's still holding in his hand.]

Well, better you have something to fight with than nothing, at least.

Hic, if you REALLY needed to, you could just take off your leg an' beat someone with it.

Just leave the fighting to me, ok?

That's what the humans should do, but do they listen? No

...Take off your leg? Huh?

What? And being a mutant ninja turtle isn't weird?

[As Hiccup makes his way over to the edge of the bed, he pauses. ..Donnie didn't know? He could have sworn he did. Then again, maybe turtles thought it was normal for some humans to have metal legs or something.

Carefully he climbs up onto the bed, reaching over to wrench the D-Terminal from Gomamon's claws this time before he can get away again. Then he angles it so Donnie can see his leg.]

I uh....I had an accident a while back.

[Donnie stared for a brief moment, wondering what could have happened for the viking to have lost a leg. He was curious, but ti also wasn't any of his business to ask something that personal. He decided not to ask.]

Oh whoa... I-I never noticed before...

How could you not notice that? Even I had noticed it.

Hey, a lot has happened since I got here. [He looks at Hiccup] So then... your okay now?

[The boy nods, tapping his fingers absently a little on his knee.]

Yeah, I'm used to it by now. it's no big deal, really.

Well... That's good, I guess.

Man... you really are a weird kid.

Kamemon! [Hit shim with staff]

Ow! [Tries to get his helmet off from over his face now.]

[Hiccup falls silent for a moment, his eyes flicking back down to his prosthetic.]

For a viking, having missing limbs isn't all that weird, really. I'm lucky, compared to a lot of the villagers back home.

Hmm... yeah, I have read that it happened to vikings a lot. Not like ninjas didn't get missing limbs either.

[Luckily, none of his family had missing limbs, and he hoped that they never did

[Hold the phone.]

You...you've read about vikings?

Yeah, well in my world vikings lived a long time ago, it's been a few centuries since then. I found some history books in a landfill near the sewer, so I read a lot about them.

[Oh, right. The time difference/different worlds thing. ..It all felt so surreal. Made him feel like he was trapped in the future, which- technically- he is.]

Guess you never thought you'd get to meet one for real then, huh? ...Not like I'm a prime example or anything.

Gotta admit, it is a bit of a surprise to meet one. But it's cool that I did, I'll definitely have to tell my brothers about it when I get home.

And you look like a prime example to me. I don;t know what made you lose your leg, but if you were strong enough to go on after it, then you must be strong on the inside. I'm a pretty bad ninja, but I have my brains to back me up. So trust me, you have something in you that makes you a great viking.

[Well, that wasn't at all expected. It catches Hiccup off guard a bit, causing him to tilt his head while he regards Donnie with a solemn expression. After a pause though he smiles faintly.]

..Thanks Donnie. ...You're right, you don't always need brute strength to be strong. If you're smart, intuitive, and brave....well you can do just about anything.

Exactly, glad I could be of help.

[Finally pulls his helmet off and back in place.] Phew, I thought I was gonna die! Donnie,t hat was mean!

Oh, and you weren't being annoying?

...Maybe

[Hiccup just chuckles, watching the two with a smile.]

Well, Kamemon, looks like you've got quite a partner to live up to there, hm? ...Since he's a ninja and all.

[Still has no idea over here what a ninja IS, by the way.]

...Judging by the look on your face, you have no idea what a ninja is, do you?

Caaaan't say that I do, Donnie.

Well... To put it simply, I'm a warrior who fights in the shadows. We use stealth, wit, and ninjutsu, which is a highly-advanced fighting form, to defeat our opponents. Ninjas have to be quick, swift, and most of all remain unseen

...My brothers and me are bad at the 'stay unseen' part though, but everything else we're good at.

Well that's....definitely a lot different from how vikings like to fight.

Our philosophy is grab something that looks like a weapon and have at it. Not...much stealth or technique, unfortunately.

Well ninjas will do that if they have to, and my brother Raph prefers doing that anyways...

But yeah, ninjas ans vikings have very distinct fighting styles. They originated in different countries though and I believe there was a time difference from when they both originated. So it's really not all that surprising.

Oh great, dork talk. I'm gonna die of boredom...

[Hiccup resists rolling his eyes at Kamemon, and he's pretty sure Donnie is doing the same.]

Makes sense.

But...what do ninjas have to fight really? Vikings usually only fight wild animals, dragons, or more commonly, each other.
