While we have a duty to protect our Chosen, we don't have to do so to the point of smothering them. True, but it's also not what our Chosen needs. The hard part is knowing when to give your Chosen space, letting them protect themselves, and when to step forward. [He pauses, trying to think of an example.] If there was a Digimon attacking, then yes. Protect your partner. If they are just going to the store, then maybe they would prefer alone time.
