[Kovu kind of feels sorry for his roommate right about now. Kovu's been growling and snarling the whole day, and by now the former lion is getting really frustrated. He can talk just fine, but he knows he's not saying anything anyone else is going to understand. Lion speech isn't exactly intelligible to someone who only knows human languages. What's worse, Kovu can't understand anything that anyone else is trying to say to him.

Lopmon's been trying to keep him calm the whole time, but it's not going so well. When the feed clicks on, Kovu looks like he's about to throw the D-terminal out the window. Lopmon cringes as Kovu just flat out roars - pretty much in his ear, no less - and then turns to the camera.]

Please tell me there's someone out there who can understand lion. I think Kovu's gonna go crazy if I'm the only one he can talk to.

[What follows will sound to almost everyone like any other big cat noises, but anyone who actually has some feline heritage will be able to understand what Kovu's saying.]

"Crazy" isn't even close.

[Kovu just gives the camera a look when he hears Fluttershy trying to talk.]

I don't think he can understand you, Fluttershy...

[She sighs softly.] I was afraid of that...

...And neither can I. All I'm hearing is neeeeeeeiigh.

[Lopmon's impression of a whinny is absolutely terrible. Kovu even looks like he's trying not to laugh.]

[She blinks at Lopmon.]

Is that what I sound like...?

Isn't that the sound horses make? HEY!

[A pillow collides with the back of Lopmon's head.]

Would you tell me what she's saying already?

W-Well...all I said was this is happening to a lot of others, too.

[Clearly.]

I-I can understand Kovu fine...but I guess it doesn't work both ways...

She said no one else can talk to each other, and she knows what you're saying.

[Lopmon scowls at Kovu, and rubs at his head.]

...Really?

I-It...seems that way. People are having trouble understanding each other lately. I-I...know what you're saying though, because I communicate with animals back where I come from...

[Kovu looks at Lopmon expectantly. At first, Lopmon doesn't do anything, but when Kovu picks up the pillow again he groans and translates.]

...You're kidding.

I-It's uh...just what I've noticed...

I think he meant the talking to animals part.

No, I mean her being able to talk to me. Does she speak lion or something?

W-Well, no...I don't speak it exactly. I can understand it though...

[Lopmon rolls his eyes when Kovu expects him to translate again, but he does it.]

That doesn't make any sense. And why can't I understand you? All the animals back home could talk to each other.

[She frowns a little, not quite sure how to explain it.]

Th-That's...just the way it is back where I come from. I...understand when animals speak, and they could understand me, even though I didn't exactly speak their language. But other ponies couldn't understand the animals at all...

[Another sigh from Lopmon, another translation. They're getting lazier...]

Your world was weird.

[She can't help but laugh a little.] I suppose...That's just what we were used to, though...

[Was that even a full sentence, Lopmon?]

I think I'd hate that.

If you grew up that way, would you really notice?

[Lopmon, you're not even trying...

Kovu has to smack him with the pillow to get what Fluttershy just said.]

No, I guess not.

Right...It's the same for me. That's just what's natural in my world...

[Seems like the translating is on the right track, now.]

Did you ever wish everyone else could talk to them too?

[She considers that for a moment.]

Sometimes...It would be nice for others to share how wonderful nature can be...

But my life is all about taking care of animals, so it helps if I can understand what they need or want. And if I'm the only one who can do that...then I'll just have to do the best I can.

So you're an animal shrink?

N-Not...really, no...I...guess I'm more of an animal caretaker...?

Oh, you mean like a nurse.
