[Kovu kind of feels sorry for his roommate right about now. Kovu's been growling and snarling the whole day, and by now the former lion is getting really frustrated. He can talk just fine, but he knows he's not saying anything anyone else is going to understand. Lion speech isn't exactly intelligible to someone who only knows human languages. What's worse, Kovu can't understand anything that anyone else is trying to say to him.

Lopmon's been trying to keep him calm the whole time, but it's not going so well. When the feed clicks on, Kovu looks like he's about to throw the D-terminal out the window. Lopmon cringes as Kovu just flat out roars - pretty much in his ear, no less - and then turns to the camera.]

Please tell me there's someone out there who can understand lion. I think Kovu's gonna go crazy if I'm the only one he can talk to.

[What follows will sound to almost everyone like any other big cat noises, but anyone who actually has some feline heritage will be able to understand what Kovu's saying.]

But my life is all about taking care of animals, so it helps if I can understand what they need or want. And if I'm the only one who can do that...then I'll just have to do the best I can.

S-Something like that, I...I-I guess...

[That's really not sinking in. Lopmon's forced to interject, before Kovu has a chance to say anything...disturbing.]

[She nods in understanding.]

I know it wouldn't make much sense. But it's just what I do...

R-right.

[It's not just that he was a hunter. Lopmon saw Kovu like this when Marley hurt her leg - if anything like that happened in the Outlands, you were left for dead, and no one tried to help you.]

[She just smiles. She may understand more than you think.]

Why are you smiling?

[He can't think of any reason for her to be smiling like that.]

[At that she blushes, and glances away self-consciously.]

I-I'm just...glad I've gotten a chance to...to talk to you...
