themainframe | Mission 13: Shattered Hopes

*The video is somewhere low to the ground, showing Dante standing at the edge of town, holding a nodachi that should be familiar to those who knew Roze. In place of Rebellion, there's a red long sword on his back, and he's staring at the sky with an unusually subdued expression. He almost looks emotionless, except for a notably melancholy air about him.

He doesn't seem to be aware he's being recorded, though, and the voice that speaks is that of Kid.*

He's been like this ever since he found out about Squall and Roze. I don't know what to do...he's never gotten like this before. Even when the city got destroyed...he still managed to enjoy the trip and stay upbeat. Now he's barely saying a word...I'm worried.

*Dante looks over at the sound of his partner's voice and realizes he's being recorded. With a subtle frown, he walks forward and reaches for the D-Terminal.*

Kid, turn that off. Jeeze, everywhere I go, I get partners that think they're my babysitters...

*And that's the end of the recording, as Dante grabs his D-T from Kid and shuts it off.*

Or, rather, he remembers the last time you were anything aside from your more pronounced personality traits.

*Not for a while, anyway. And voice means you're missing the 'shutting up would be good now' look in his eye, Vergil. Not that it isn't creeping into his otherwise unimpressed tone.*

That was a sign of manipulation. This is just a bad mood, I'm not going to do anything I would regret normally.

*Aka: don't you dare insinuate that he would ever act like that without something controlling him.*

[ good. he'd ignore it anyway. like he is ignoring that tone. anything that he can do to grate on your nerves IS a little victory. ]

A hangover in the morning might tell you otherwise.

[ aka: he isn't insinuating that. not on his behalf. the digimon, however, might need more reassurance than he. ]

*Watch it Vergil, he'll turn the snarcasm up to eleven just for you.*

I'm not that drunk. And I don't recall asking you to be my babysitter either.

*Well, they just heard him assure you, right?*

[ he'll match it. you know he will. ]

[ or, you know. this being all human thing is getting to him. B( ]

*He snorts at that.*

Glad to see I have such a selfless and compassionate brother. I'm fine, I just need some time.

*Yes, embrace your humanity, Vergil!*

Perhaps... I am learning.

[ a little admittance that perhaps he is taking some advice. ]

*There's a pause, and then there might be a bit of a smile in his voice.*

You know...I could use a chance to blow off some steam, and I have a new sword I need to test out.

*Giving Vergil a way to help so he doesn't have to feel useless? Offering some good old fashioned family bonding time? Maybe both?*

It has been a while...

Outside of town looks good for a fight. Unless it's time for your nap?

*He's calling you a kid, Vergil. What do?*

Hmph...don't worry about me. Just make sure your elder doesn't run circles around you.

You make a habit of that regardless, considering your tactics.

And here I thought you actually avoided guns because you'd forgotten how to aim. Or were you just resting Ebony on top of Ivory because you wanted me to do all the work?

I thought that since I was gracing you with my presence and cooperation, that yes. You should do all of the work.
