Being a teenager, you tend to think you know better than everyone else — and teenagers are often a lot smarter than people give them credit for. You know what else, though? Intelligence doesn't mean maturity or sense of responsibility, or experience, so keeping it to yourself is putting countless other people in danger. All of us. By not telling anyone where it is, you're making yourself accountable for anyone who might stumble into it on accident.
