No, not from demonic contracts. Though it's more or less possible in my world, except the rumors go that in exchange for their power, you lose a few memories here and there. The magic in my world comes in two flavors: magic used naturally by a sorceress and para-magic, which is energy drawn from life forms. Anyone can use para-magic and manipulate it into something else. You can do some pretty devastating things with chi-based attacks, too. Lots-a flashy stuff.

This is the Hyperion model of the gunblade. If you know Squall, he's got one, too, with a revolver base. They're considered unreliable and hard to use, but only if you're a moron without a sense of timing who can't operate a sword. They don't actually fire projectiles and they're only good for up close and personal melee combat, but they're damn useful. Pull the trigger the second you strike your target and the tremor produced in the blade is enough to rip a monster in two. Or, in the best-case scenario for the target, a measly little scar. The only downside is the huge recoil, but you can use it to your advantage and turn it into energy behind your next attack.
