[video] - Lavafish
Tired of memories yet, Terminal Tokyo? Unfortunately, this glitch isn't going to stop quite yet.
The scene opens to a landscape of volcanoes and a lake of lava. Every so often, a fountain of lava shoots up. On a rock in the middle of the lake, Shark is lying on the ground, having sustained some physical injuries. On the other side of him issome fancily dressed douchebag his opponent, a young man with red and yellow hair and a cross shaped scar on his cheek. Before Shark is a monster that appears to be some sort of cross between a dragon and a shark. Before his opponent is a puppet-like creature. They're in the middle of a duel, and it's obvious who currently has the upper hand. The man taunts him, urging him to get up so he can strike him down again.
Shark struggles and something glows red on his chest.
The surroundings darken and a pair of glowing eyes illuminate the darkness.
"Ryoga," a deep voice rumbles. It continues to call his name as things come into focus and it's revealed to belong to the Shark-Dragon from before.
"You are...!"
"Accept me now," the dragon demands. "Become one with me, Ryoga."
Shark refuses at first. "I will no longer be possessed by Numbers," he replies as his chest glows again. The scene changes back to the magma field as Shark sits up, but there's something different about him.
"I...I..."
The dragon continues to speak to him, to tempt him and he's doing his best to resist it, but the more the dragon speaks, the weaker his resolve gets.
"Accept me and free the darkness inside of you. If you want to win, accept me!"
"No...no...I...! I will no longer...! I will no longer be controlled!"
It's a grand proclamation, and it seems to fill Shark back with vigor as he takes his turn. He banishes the dragon - Shark Drake - from his side of the field. Not only is this an important tactical move for him in the game, it removes the troublesome beast from his sight. His opponent doesn't seem to care, confident that victory is his. They're interrupted by the image of a young boy in a metal mask, who taunts Shark's opponent, named IV.
Frustrated and hurt by the boy's words, IV talks of the crimes he had committed for the boy, whom he calls father which includes the downfall of Shark's career and the burning of his sister. Shark interrupts him, having had enough of IV's words. Even if it was on someone else's commands, he still holds IV responsible and vows revenge for his sister.
The boy sneers one more time and brushes off his son, who simply snaps. His playing becomes wild and sloppy, but it's still fierce all the same and he summons his strongest monster, backing Shark into a corner.
Shark knows he's run out of moves. He will lose. And losing means more than just being knocked out of the tournament, it means the end for him. He will not be able to avenge his sister against the people who harmed her. Everything he had struggled for up until now would have been for naught.
But the masked boy speaks to him again and tells him there is a way. Shark knows what he's talking about and he hates it. He hates that he's been pushed this far. He hates that he's being mocked.
He hates that the boy is right.
"Shark Drake desires you."
He can't. He can't give in. He can't allow Shark Drake to have him. He can't play right into the boy's hands.
But at the same time...he can't give up on the revenge he's been after for so long.
"Accept the Number, Ryoga, and all your desires will be fulfilled."
Ever since that day, the day my sister was injured, I put everything into revenge. If I can fulfill that, even if a devil takes over my body, I don't care.
His path chosen, Shark brings Shark Drake back to his field.
"This will be the moment I obtain my new power! In order to fulfill my revenge, I will accept everything! Now, Shark Drake, take my desire and evolve!"
Shark glows purple and Shark Drake obeys him.
"Now! Appear! Chaos Number 32! Marine Biting Dragon - Shark Drake Veiss!"
[The memory ends, and Gotsumon quietly approaches her partner.]
Ryoga...?
Gotsumon. Get your deck, we're going to play a practice duel.
