two starfish ★ video/action/memory leak
[Fuko was out of the apartment today, with a big bag full of wooden stars. She finally had enough to start giving out, and that's what she's been doing to every person and Digimon that's crossed her path.]
Please have this! [She would plead before returning to her bag and running to the next victim. It's been going on for a long while now, and Penguinmon was getting really bored.]
I don't think you've brought enough. [Sarcasm. You're soaking in it. Fuko didn't seem to notice. Shame.]
[Suddenly static fills the screen. The memory starts on a fairly normal, happy tone. It was the Founders Festival at Hikarizaki Private High School, so there were lots of people to hand out her carvings to. Two other students were there, Nagisa and Tomoya, handing out the starfish with Fuko, the three spending the day together as friends. The two would talk to eachother, but Fuko was too invested to really notice.]
[However, something was able to stir her out of her work.]
[A visitor that Fuko had not seen in a very long time.]
Ibuki-sensei!
[Nagisa and Tomoya ran over to meet Kouko, with Fuko in the middle. But Fuko said nothing, only staring at her older sister's kind and gentle face, overwhelmed with so many feelings.]
Good afternoon, Kouko.
Sensei, I'm happy you came.
Good afternoon, Nagisa, Okazaki. I'm sorry, was I a little late?
Not at all.
[Kouko laughed a little to herself.] It's been a while since I last came here, so I was a little nervous. It hasn't changed, yet it feels like I'm at a different school. I'm sure it's because it's filled with students I don't know. [Nagisa looked down on Fuko, with a warm smile for her dear friend.] That's why I felt really relieved when I saw you two.
[The air grew stiff in an instance. Nagisa and Tomoya were stunned, at a loss for words.]
Two?
[Fuko said nothing. Fuko did nothing but watch. She didn't get surprised or upset, because she already knew the outcome. A voice blends into the scene, Fuko's voice. Fuko thinks Fuko is here doing this because Fuko can't see or talk to her. Because there isn't anything else Fuko can do.]
Um, is something wrong? Nagisa? Okazaki? [The unsettling feeling doesn't go away. Tomoya looked like there was something he wanted to say, but he held his tongue, for Fuko's sake.] ...Have you heard of this rumor?
Rumor?
That Fuko is at this school right now. That she's having fun with friends.
Ibuki-sensei-! [Fuko grabbed Nagisa's hand, stopping her from saying the wrong thing. Her gaze was lowered, her body limp.]
Of course, I know that's not true. After all, I see her in bed every day. If she is surrounded by many friends, even if it's only in her dreams, it makes me happy enough. [Kouko was whistful with her words. She couldn't see what effects they had, even though her dear sister was right there in front of her.] If dreaming is the only thing she can do right now, then I want her to be having fun with her friends, if only in her dreams. If she were at this school, would you two be her friends?
Yes! Definitely! [Nagisa answered with no hesitation, fighting hard to hold back her sobs.]
If she's your little sister, I'm sure she's cute. I'm sure she'd be such a hard worker that I couldn't help but support her. I'm sure it'd be fun to be with her.
Hearing that is enough to make me feel at ease. She was bad with people, so she didn't have many friends. So please stay with her, until the end of her dream. [Fuko's eyes finally raised to her sister again.]
Kouko. [Tomoya spoke up.] I'm in no position to say this, but please go ahead and marry your boyfriend. I bet your sister would want that too.
I think so too.
Your sister would be sad to find out you're having second thoughts about marriage because of her. [Fuko's eye's widened as she looked at Tomoya. Wait! What?] Please marry your boyfriend for your sister's sake too.
Yes! I'm sure she thinks that your happiness is her happiness too!
[Kouko was quited, surprised by Tomoya's request.] Your words carry a strange power. It makes me think that's what she really feels. Although I was never able to think that way before, to leave Fuko behind and become happy on my own.
It's more selfish of you to assume that.
You might be right. I'll take hold of my own happiness. [Those words, the words of her sister's wish, that all Fuko ever wanted. At long last, Fuko was able to smile along with Kouko. Her feelings were able to reach her sister after all.]
Kouko. Your sister will wake up one day, right?
I...I believe she will.
[The scene began to fade to blackness, but a few more words were able to ring through.]
Fuko didn't know her sister was hesitating about her marriage.
But it was good that Kouko made her decision.
Yes. It's thanks to Okazaki. I'll do my best to find more people who will celebrate the wedding.
Yeah. Let's give out the starfish to everyone on campus.
[And with that, the memory ended. Penguinmon was on the feed again, having just seen what Fuko had been hiding. Fuko stood still, her eyes staring straight ahead, a starfish in her grip.]
Fuko...
[She didn't turn or even say anything for the longest time. Finally-] I guess I didn't bring enough today.
[[ooc: Sorry about the double videos, they did not make this scene good for linking. In case it didn't go to the correct time stamps, they are 7:37-9:10 for the first video and 1:58-4:20 for the second.]]
