[ The D-Terminal clicks on to show a young woman with a scar across her cheek and hair that falls over her eyes staring intently into it. Her eyes are void of any emotion and for the few seconds of silence that follow the start of the transmission, she may give off the impression of a killer. ]

Good morning. The time is zero seven twenty hours. [ Formal, curt, but with a polite tone. Her expression never once waivers as she continues. ] Mikasa Ackerman, soldier. Rank is of little importance here, but experience is highly sought out from my understanding.

[ Which is why she introduces herself as a soldier instead of taking the easy life and settling in under a new alias. If people were instructed to fight here, then she wanted not only her skills to be known, but to not be treated as if she were a weak individual. Behind her appears a Terriermon who seems more interested in what she's doing than anything else. ]

I formally request a briefing on the situation of this world as well as any documentation related to having your Digimon grow stronger. [ A brief pause. ] As well as information as to why there are skeletons hanging on the walls.

[ With that, she cuts the call and leaves her room, Terriermon in tow. Hello roommates of F1 005, it seems your new companion has finally made herself visible enough to step free from her room to get to know you better. ]

[Oh man it's Mikasa, she's here, oh man. This is good. Is it good? It means less people are back home but that more people are here, and that might not be good but.

But.

Mikasa is here, and that's a relief, so he's going to shove all of his worries aside and just focus on making sure that she's okay, even though he's pretty sure nothing could ever hurt Mikasa.]

Mikasa, where are you? I can come find you, and we can go over everything that's going on, okay?

[His Tentomon appears over his shoulder, buzzing in assent.]

[ Even if she knows he's here, every little detail of this world becomes brighter at the sight of his face. He's alive, seemingly well, and less loud than usual which she's not sure whether or not that's a good thing.

For a moment there she was too focused on him that she almost neglects the strange creature floating in the background. ]

I'm in my assigned room. [ Fidgeting with her scarf with her free hand. ] F1-005.

Can we see each other soon, Eren?

[It could be so much worse. He's going to just keep pushing forward and forward, and he throws his D-Terminal to Tentomon so he can start preparing himself to leave.]

Of course we can - I, I can come see you right now. I think we should be in the same building.

[He disappears out of view, and there's the sounds of him rustling through clothes.]

I'm so glad you're here. I saw Armin, and he's been acting kind of strange, but now we're all here, so I know at least you two are safe...

[ Suddenly he's no longer in view and she tenses up, left instead to stare at the Digimon who's holding the D-Terminal. ]

[ Listening to him, she waits almost obediently for him to continue, but then he brings up something odd. ]

I think the skeletons are in preparation for a holiday here they call Halloween. I read about it -- it's a holiday for honoring the dead.

How are you settling in, Mikasa?

[ A holiday for honoring the dead. Speaking of, she can't look anymore deadpan than she already is. ]

Honoring the dead by hanging fake skeletons? [ She's silently judging this. ]

... I'm well. Eren and I have plans to meet up. [ Which means she's doing GREAT. ]

U-uh...it's a holiday at the end of October--that's this month, if you weren't sure-- [after living with a cat, Waver was starting to get used to explaining basic things at this point.] This is a season originally based on remembering the dead; these days it's celebrated with wearing costumes, pumpkin carving, and any number of related things.

[ Her idea of danger varies from that of normal individuals. ] How much danger?

I'm not sure. It's not exactly been something I've wanted to test.

Experience doesn't mean a whole lot either. There's not much you can do to a digimon without your partner.

[ Not necessarily believing that herself. ] Is that so?

It's true. I had to promise Ryudamon not to try fighting again.

Digimon grow stronger in fights and when bad stuff happens so they can protect their Tamers.

[Guilmon growls, shifting in place. Her military talk flies over his head. Even in his normal mindset, it'd fall outside his understanding.]

Guilmon knows lots about Digimon because he is a Digimon, so I guess I can help. It's dangerous, so you should know this stuff anyway.

[Plus, helping people is good, isn't it? That part of his morality hasn't been completely twisted yet.]

[ People keep throwing around the words 'dangerous' and 'danger', yet Mikasa has yet to see any indication of this world being a threat. The only dangerous thing was abducting her, why even that poor Culumon was scared of her so she's not the type to think of Digimon as anything other than easy to push around pets. ]

What's so dangerous about it if you don't mind me asking.

People are getting hurt and acting funny.

[He scowls.]

And there's lots of Digimon that do bad things, like hurting others and trying to kill them! Guilmon's seen that happen lots of times.

[Leomon... He's alive here, of course, and death works differently, but it's still a big, scary risk.]

Not all Digimon are small, either. They get bigger and bigger when they evolve. Some as big as buildings! That's why you need to be careful.

[ She's late to the party but only fashionably so! explaining shit gets tedious after a while and other people are way more tech-savvy than her. ]

Don't feel too weirded out. While I know what Halloween is, we don't celebrate it in my country. Its mostly a religious thing that got all mixed up after centuries of people forgetting the real meaning, but at its root its about annual harvest and partying with the spirits of the dead. Lots of people believe the sort of barrier separating the living at the dead is compromised 'round this time of the year, what with the daylight hours gettin' shorter. So the dead are closer to us than usual and able to revisit their homes.

The costumes and decorations and stuff were originally intended to ward off malicious dead. Now its all kind of childish 'cause no one believes in the shit anymore. Its just kind of a routine. People acting out the motions. Mechanical memory.

I wouldn't even think about it that much. Its just silly and harmless and really ain't got shit to do with anything.

[ Her first impression is how nice it is to have someone who speaks so much answer her. Finding it less trouble to have someone else lead the conversation made it so that Mikasa could focus on what she's being told instead of fumbling on the right words to say.

[ After the lengthy explanation of Halloween that's left her with more questions than answers, Mikasa can agree with the last bit of her commentary. It has shit to do with why she's here, why they're all here, so why is it being celebrated? ]

What about the dead of this world? Will they be a problem if they revisit?

[ ... So she might be taking it a little more seriously than she should be. ]

Tu Casa. Its uh, part of a phrase in one of the many languages back where I'm from. Mi casa es tu casa. Mikasa. Tu Casa. It'll probably never make sense to you so questioning it isn't really gonna help. I just call everyone names that come to mind right off. I like that your name is Mikasa and TuCasa just jumped out.

It'll grow on you.

[ She laughed, shaking her head and clearing her throat. ]

In regards to the dead coming back...well. [ She sucked on her teeth briefly, looking off to the side in thought before nodding. ]

Think of this place like a book.

When you read a book the characters exist and they're pretty real for that time. Their lives are in the book and if something happens in the story, it stays in the pages. And because you can always go back and read the book again, they never really die.

This place is kinda like that. We can die here, but we're not really dead. And the place will bring us back just like we were before. If nothing happens to the "book", nothing happens to us. So long as no one starts tearing out pages, we should be fine.

[ The ears strike her as odd, but it's due to the rest that cause her to not view her as a threat. Someone who's seen combat must be easier to talk to than these children. ]

Adjusting to this new world will be of little trouble. Soldiers adapt to the situation or else they hold back their own--you'll find that I won't be doing any of that.
