Mission 5: Renewed memories and rusted bonds.

*Dante is strangely absent from this video, but Coronamon appears to be sitting on the floor next to a bed. His tail is curled onto his lap and he seems to have been crying. In fact, he still hasn't gotten his sobs fully under control by the time he starts recording.*

Since...since a lot of you know Dante and are friends with him... *Sniff.* I should probably tell you. He's- *Gulp.* He's de- *Choke.* he's gone. It was...I think it was an accident, but... *Sniffle.* Humans don't turn into eggs, do they?

But...why? They didn't even tell me why they were fighting, just that I would understand if I had a brother...

[ did'ya think Vergil had disappeared. ]

Sometimes they don't need a reason to fight. It just happens. An outlet.

[ he tenses up when he hears another voice and turns his head toward it. ]

On whos part though.

Then why real weapons? If you were just playing, why didn't you use fake ones?

[hellboundslayer]

[ he considers both questions. one he supposed deserves an answer. the other? what business is it of theirs why they'd opt for true weapons instead of fake ones? ]

Naturally the fault would lie with me, wouldn't it? I am the one that still remains.

[ when he puts it like that, he's not EXACTLY admitting that yes it is and yes, he does feel bad about it. ]

Barehands, weapons. It's all the same. The intensity flies and a spar can turn into an all out brawl. [ he pauses for a moment and frowns. ]

But he was warned and he realized himself that he was not the same as before.

[ He shifts Coronamon closer ]

But he got stabbed...if they'd been using fake weapons, he'd still be...

If we were not weakened, nothing would have come from it at all.

[innermonologues]

Your frustrations and anger, don't take them out on him.

You knew he'd lost his powers. You could have been more careful.

*His tail, dangling out of Squall's arms, flicks sharply.*

[hellboundslayer]

[ a brow raises, but he isn't rising to the bait. not from Squall and definitely not from the little cat. ]

To not give your all in battle is an insult to both.

[ and that's all he has to say on that. now he might slink away once more. 8T ]

[innermonologues]

[ Squall holds Coronamon firmly in his arms so he can't escape. ]

Unfortunately he has a point.

Why can't you give your all with weapons that can't kill?

[hellboundslayer]

[ Vergil pauses, frowning. ]

We are what we are. Simply because we are without our demonic powers does not take its influence from our souls. The tenacity of battle and pleasure derived from our blades clashing against one another will not be satisfied with mere props.

*Several hours later, the hole in Dante's torso vanishes and he coughs loudly. Instinctively, one hand goes to his chest, where a familiar weight has been nagging with its absence. His amulet is gone, where-oh, that's right. Vergil has it. Vergil has...the perfect amulet. Which means...*

Shit...

*His voice is a bit hoarse and he groans as he sits up, looking around the room.*

[innermonologues]

[ Squall frowns and nods his head. ]

Brothers and rivals it's all the same. Feeling the clashing of the blades and the feeling of every blow being hit. Nothing could ever match that feeling.

But...you know you could get killed.

[ it could mean a lot of things. the most obvious one is likely what Dante is concerned with. Vergil, however, is keeping an open mind to other options. he doesn't really care for the alternative.

as silly as it sounds, he hasn't exactly left that room either. it's not as if he had ever really meant to kill Dante - incapacitating through multiple stabs wounds notwithstanding. the fact that Vergil had believed that he had done such a thing had left him in a little bit of shock. he had always known Dante had been alive somewhere out there while growing up. never had he been alone.

foolish to think that he could banish and sever all ties. he had already proven that by rejecting Dante's offer while falling further into the demon world. hence the annoying reality that Vergil does not like the idea of his brother dying. especially not by his hand.

he owes him this much, at least. staying close by until something can be arranged. sadly, though, the older brother had taken to a corner in Dante's room. settling in, he's half drifted off as he brother stirs. ]

He fought his brother...in the park. He said...he said it wasn't real, but...they used weapons a-and he got...he got stabbed.

At least one has a decent head on their shoulders.

[ at least Squall can understand the feelings of warriors. that's better than nothing. ]

Despite what you may think, we would not.

Kill or be killed. That's the life many soldiers live, but rivals share a different kind of bond.

But he did get killed.

[All Laguna had seen on his D-T as he finally managed his way into the town as the sight of something that looked vaguely like a Moomba saying that someone was dead...and the fact that he looked so distraught was all the reason Laguna had to rush for the place it had described. It took a little to find the place, but Laguna rushed into the door and to his surprise actually saw Squall having a conversation with the Moomba and some other man...well this was interesting]

Squall? What happened here?

[With Coronamon still in his arms, Squall had found himself leaning against the wall in Dante's room. It didn't seem right to him that humans could die in this world. They were all changed to become similar data to the Digimon right? So... how is it they couldn't technically die but other beings could? No it didn't sit right with him at all. He stood there in silence as he gently tried comforting Coronamon.

His head lifted when he heard the noise coming from the direction of the bed. Was that....? ]
