11 Butterflies | Accidental Video

[The camera is dark, and for a while there's nothing but the sound of gurgling and scratching noises. Then suddenly Fluttershy's voice could be heard from a distance.]

N-No, Choco...! D-Don't do that...!

[It's still dark, but the camera seems to be shaking as a rumbling giggle is heard, mixing with Fluttershy's voice calling out and the sound of object crashing nearby.

Then a "whump" sound, and the camera seemed to be tugged back and forth before light burst onto the screen, revealing Fluttershy's hand covering a shot of the ceiling.]

Choco, you know this isn't food...

[There's a brief shot of the winged girl talking to a small white puffball before the D-Terminal closes and ends transmission.]

[Wait, babies know how to do that? Now he sure feels inadequate.]

N...N-No...! They're not weapons! They're so much more than that! They're living creatures, with thoughts, and feelings...and life...

[Wow, now he feels terrible. Was he really treating the creature just like human beings treated him? As nothing more than a tool...?]

[Oh...now she feels bad for raising her voice like that.]

Th-They...They help us fight...and they protect us...but they're so much more than that...They're creatures that...deserve a chance to live too...

A-And they can be...great friends, if we let them...

[This was hitting all of his buttons. Painfully. He wanted to apologize to the creature...]

I don't know how to be... friends... with anything.

Can we -- can we give them away?

[It would probably be better for it's sake.]

Th...Th-That's true...that...no one should be used like a tool...

A-And it can be hard...learning how to be friends with someone...B-But...i-it's important to try...The only way you get better is with practice. Even with something like...being friends with someone. You have to learn how to get along with others and practice being friends.

S-So please...don't give your partner away. Our partners...they were meant to be with us. And they need us...just as much as we need them.

What happens... if I let it down?

For some people, it can be...that easy. But learning how to be friends with others can take time...and you practice by trying to make friends and learning about them...caring about them...

We all make mistakes sometimes. What's important is learning from them...and getting up and trying again...and doing better.

B-But in the end...it all comes down to what you and your partner want to do. Y-You should...try talking to each other and...see if you can work something out...

Just talking? That's really all it takes?

W-Well...talking isn't always...that easy. Getting to know each other...learning what to talk about, finding things to talk about...it can be...difficult sometimes.

B-But that's...part of getting to know other people. Communication...learning when something needs to be said, and when it doesn't...it's part of learning what friends need.

But... you just say words, don't you? That's all there is to speaking. It speaks to me all the time.

... It's easier when you just know. When you know what they need from you, without speaking.

I miss that.

But it's more than just the words you say...just because people talk, that doesn't always make it a conversation.

You and your partner...you talk, but...What do you know about him? Does he have a favorite food, or hobby...? Or...is it a her?

Talking to get to know each other...that can be more difficult for...for some. But as you get to know each, you can get to know what they'll need without those words. That's what it's like to be friends...
