[ Sora is feeling pretty good - despite how the market area looks. Kyokyomon rests on his head and Renamon is hovering over a shoulder. ]

Kinda glad that everyone is back to normal. It was starting to get kinda rough, you know? But hey... It's all over and we definitely kicked butt! I got my crest too and I'm pretty sure lots of us did. So the next time something happens, we're gonna be even stronger.

[ well. Sora thinks so anyway! just look at that face and try to disagree. he takes a moment to look over to Renamon with a grin. ]

And we get to make new friends. More help never hurt, right?

Maybe we'll have enough time between battles so that you can see what it's like. What I've seen of the place is pretty cool.

Hope so! It'd be nice to learn more about this world. It's so different from back home.

I'm Chris, nice to meetcha. So, Friendship huh? Pretty cool!

Same to you, Christ. And for me? It's the perfect crest.

[ Kyokyomon pops his head up and nods, agreeing one hundred percent before fully laying back down once more. ]

This world... It's different, yeah. But each one usually is. Guess that's why I've always liked being able to visit 'em.

If you've got enough friendship in ya to earn the crest, then I believe you.

You've been to other worlds?

[heartdive]

Yeap. Lots of different worlds. Where I'm from, some people can travel between them.

I'm originally from some islands. [ pause. ] Where are you from?

[beingthecreature]

Oh-ho, now that's cool.

I'm from Canada. Well, originally from New Jersey, but home base was in Canada 'til my brother and I started traveling around. [Then, on the likely? off-chance Sora isn't familiar with it, he continues.] The area I'm from is a temperate forest region, boasting both great cities and vibrant, varied wildlife. [He snickers a little.] Useful when your job is studying it.

[ very good chance he hasn't been there. just saying. ]

So you get to have seasons. Neat!

[ not a thing that really happens at the Destiny Islands. ]

And study animals?

[beingthecreature]

Sure do! [Varying degrees of 'winter' count right?] Hard to say which one is my favorite. A lot of people might say spring or summer because of all the life around, but there's always interesting things going on, if you look hard enough.

[Chris smiles brightly and nods.] Yeah, both my brother and I have dedicated our lives to studying and, if needed, saving the various creatures of our world. It's really exciting work, even if it's a little tough sometimes. But it's worth it!

You might not say that if you stayed at the Destiny Islands long enough.

[ because everything is always the same there... not like this Canada place. as if there is anything but moose and snow in Canada pfft welp, Chris. Sora likes that sort of attitude. indeedy he does. ]

Sounds like you and your brother are kinda like heroes too.

[beingthecreature]

Ahh, even the smallest places have something about them. Take for instance, the Galapagos Islands back home. They're famous for having some of the most varied wildlife in the world, because of their isolation and different habitats. The creatures living there even helped inspire the theory of evolution, that all animals are modified over millenia instead of having been spontaneously created, which was the general thought at the time.

Heroes? [He laughs a little, somewhat sheepishly, but before he can reply a Dracomon nudges his way in under Chris's arm.]

Yeah they're heroes! You should hear all th' stories about villains they fight and days they save!

[Chris rolls his eyes good-naturedly, then gives the Digimon a light shove on the snout that... does absolutely nothing to get him out of the shot.]

We're not trying to be heroes, though. We just try to keep animals safe, living free and in the wild.

[ Renamon is interested. well, if only because this is news to her. ]

Creatures in the human world evolve too?

[ Sora's focus though? on the important stuff. like the hero time and saving things. ]

I think that's just kinda what good guys do, though. Not everything can fight back or stand up for itself, so someone has to stand up and do it instead. Kinda the definition of a hero if you ask me.

They do! Not as quickly as Digimon seem to, though. But it happens, and it's always going on, even if some people might not believe it.

[Hard to fight with that logic.] Well... I guess. We don't call ourselves heroes though. We're just a couple'a guys out there learning about creatures, and protecting them along the way if we need to.

So which is the older brother?

[beingthecreature]

Martin is. [Chris laughed a little and smiled brightly.] I'm about four years younger than him.

Though you might not always know it.

[Chris gives a wry smile to a Lopmon that popped up over his shoulder, who giggles.]

Only child over here. Must be nice to have someone around, even they act younger.

Ahh yeah, no doubts about that. My brother's been there my whole life; we even went into similar jobs together. I wouldn't have it any other way.
