[Hello Chosen of Terminal Tokyo. Your D-Terminals, TVs, computers, and anything else with a screen have now been hijacked by the Digital World's resident computer geek. He looks good, better than he did the last time he showed himself. There's a bit of dirt covering his face, but he either doesn't notice or he doesn't care.]

Hello everyone. I know I haven't been the easiest to get in touch with. I've been...well, out of town is a good way of putting it.

[It's certainly one way of putting it, Koushirou.]

I have received a report from Jyou about the state of the city, and it seems the damage is more extensive than anticipated. Looking at the pictures and videos, I don't think the Digimon alone can clear it out. They're going to need some help, so if anyone of you are willing to go out and give them a hand, I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated. I have no doubt you will be compensated for any aid you provide.

[He lifts a hand, as though ready to shut off his device before he pauses.]

Ah, one more thing. Tohsaka-san, if you would please contact me, there is something I wish to discuss with you. Something about the Trailmon...?

[And with that, he turns off the feed. You will be returned to your previously scheduled programming in 3...2...1...]

Oh, am I in trouble now?

[ She doesn't appear to be all that upset. In fact, she seems pretty pleased to be able to speak with him. ]

You really are a difficult person to get in touch with.

Sorry about that. My computers and even my own D-Terminal got corrupted by some of the Dark Field data. And I've been away working on a few things off the island.

And no. You're not in trouble. Not with me. The Trailmon that managed to live through your...improvisation aren't all that happy with you. They wanted me to make sure you knew you were no longer welcome to use them as travel. And I've had to change a few things around for them so you couldn't have a second performance.

[He looks a mix between impressed and perhaps slightly annoyed. That was time away from his project that he shouldn't have had to give up. Oh well. On to the next part of business.]

By the sounds of things, though, you wish to speak with me. How can I help you?

Corrupted by the data? I suppose that could happen if you don't better protect yourself, but I suspect you've already done what you can to counter them in the future.

[ Oh those Trailmon sure could hold a grudge, can't they? ] They actually survived? I was hoping to kill them so they could be reborn in Primary Village, but I suppose not everything goes according to plan.

Oh, but you really shouldn't challenge me. I've got endless amounts of time and energy to waste in this place. [ It's not meant to be a threat, so much as to play into her next bit: ] Which is why I want to help you.

It was a variable I hadn't accounted for, but that's not important.

[He waves his hand dismissively.]

How can you help me? I'm curious.

I don't know--how can I help you?

[ Propping her head up lazily. She doesn't even seem to be in the city limits today, but hardly seems phased by his question. ]

The Chosen here are a mixed variety, but you might have noticed I don't even have a Crest yet. I have no interest in fighting, but rather my interest is in this world itself. I feel I could help if given the opportunity to.

--But if you guys prefer I come up with my own creative solutions to things, I could keep at it.

[Koushirou listens quietly, and it's obvious that the wheels in his head are turning. She could prove to be useful, especially in the future...

His focus finally returns to Rin and he straightens up.]

There is information I'd like from Sakuyamon. She's currently in stasis from injuries obtained from the battle --Jyou told me-- but she's the one with information about the ARCloner and the partners. For now, I'd like to know more from her since I cannot be there myself. If you would be so kind as to find out what you can and send it my way, that would be appreciated.

[He gives a small smile.]

I will also send you a specific program that should allow you to not only scan Digimon, but compare the data of each species. Not only that, but it will show the difference in the data between the SCOPE and real partners. It'll take me a couple of days to fine tune it. I'm hoping that getting this information will provide us a better understanding on how the ARCloner works.

You may keep the program, and a copy of the data you retrieve so long as the original information is sent to me. I will grant you the means to contact me personally so as to make this trade easier.

[He glances up a moment in thought.]

Of course, your time will be rewarded. Monetary compensation if you want. It's about all I can do for the time being, and all we can do as well until some other hints turn up. Whoever is behind this is really covering their tracks, even by my standards.

[Koushirou levels his gaze to Rin.]

This should be enough to satisfy your curiosity and desire for the time being, yes?

[ That was a better response than she was hoping for. Lots of things to keep herself busy with. Either he was a genius who knew how to deal with an enthusiastic and prone to boredom hacker or he could really use her help. ]

I don't need compensation. [ It comes out suddenly. ]

That's to say--I used to do this sort of thing back home because I wanted to help improve the world. There was a terrorist organization that owned over half the world and it's resources--I fought against against them. I suppose in the end that made me the terrorist, but we did good work for the good people of that world.

If I could do the same thing here, it'd put my mind at ease.

[ Covering their tracks though? She considers an idea, contemplating it over for a few delayed seconds before bringing it up. ]

Why don't we trick them? I mean, after I get you this data, it'd be all too easy to set a feasible trap to try to draw them out.

That explains the Trailmon...[It's muttered more to himself than anything. But it's the talk of a trap that gets his attention.]

Hm...a trap? That is something I hadn't thought of before. I suppose it could be possible...

[He trails off, his musings turning inward.]

Oh come on, I only used the ones at the graveyard. [ Grumbling: ] May as well call them Grudgemon at this point.

Wait--you're actually listening to me about setting up a trap? It doesn't have to be much, but enough to draw them out.

Hm? Oh, I was just musing. I hadn't realized what it was that allowed you to be able to control them as you did.

[Another dismissive hand.]

The trap is something I don't think any of us had considered. Of course, when I first came to the Digital World, so much happened at once that none of us had time to plan a trap. And when you don't know who your enemy is, it's difficult to really prepare for a trap.

--But now we actually know who our enemy is.

[ Or at least one of them. She's not actually going to voice just how many they might possibly have out loud. ]

Do you think it's something we can do? Once the city is all cleaned up, that is.

It's not impossible. Improbable, maybe. Perhaps impractical. But it should confirm just who it is we're fighting against and if there are any others doing their bidding.

[His eyes flick to the screen.]

My only objection is that if this is successful, then we are looking at more damage to the city. Are we willing to risk Chosen and Digimon to go so far as to call out our enemy?

Why does the trap have to be inside the city? Sure, there's a risk they could retaliate and attack the city out of their frustration. However, we run that chance every day we live here.

[ Waving a hand to the terrain he can't see. ] There's plenty of places outside the city we could use that are already a dump.

[Koushirou falls silent as his gaze loses focus. He's thinking, and you can almost SEE the gear turning in his mind. Yes, there are plenty of places that could be used to draw out anyone hiding away. But the perfect place...it would need to be something that could be useful to the enemy, wouldn't it? Would they come if it were just out in the middle of a field? On a mountain? The ocean?

And what would it take to draw them out in the first place? Would Chosen used as bait work? Maybe partners? Could they use the SCOPE partners or would the originals work better? Maybe one of the original Chosen...

...Um, Koushirou...you might actually want to remember that you're suppose to be talking to someone...]

Well, I can leave you to think about it. Just do consider the idea.

[ Rin's smart enough to know that look. ] We'll be talking again shortly, won't we? By then you could have come to a decision, I hope.

Hm? Oh, yes! Of course. I'll try to remember to open up a line that you may contact me on. I've been busy out here on this project, so please forgive me if I seem to have forgotten. Tentomon has his digi-digits full reminding me to eat.

[Ah, the downside of being a very focused individual.]
