1st Lullaby [Text >> Audio >> Video]
D3pxKD 8ksi4 4L/'nsysk!840] jma
[Hello, Terminal Tokyo. It seems someone has opted for the 'start pushing buttons and see what happens' method of getting to know their D-Terminal, with the initial result being a nonsensical text message. A moment later, though, the audio cuts in, with a little girl's voice coming over the airwaves.]
-nk I got it to do something! Did that message just get sent? [slight pause] Oh wait, it's sending now! I think...? Wasn't there supposed to be pictures too?
[There's the faint sound of a few more buttons being pressed before a second voice pipes up, also sounding young and female, its tone fondly amused.]
Here, let me.
[A moment later, the video turns on, showing Terminal Tokyo a close up of the smiling face of a Salamon, who seems to be the owner of the second voice.]
There we go.
[The Salamon moves out of the way and the owner of the first voice can finally be seen, a little girl with big orange eyes and a face that's two-tone tan, as well as oddly soft-looking. The girl's face is framed by what looks like equally two-toned hair, mostly red with a broad purple stripe, that's pulled back into a short pony tail atop her head. Those looking closely might notice a few oddities, like the fact that her eyes have slit pupils, rather than round, and that a set of tiny fangs can be glimpsed in her mouth when she speaks.]
Thanks! So... um... hi, everyone. [waves to the camera with a bit of an uncertain smile] First of all, I'm Wily-Kit, and this's my partner, Emerick.
[She briefly turns the camera back on the Salamon, who waves a fore-paw, before turning it back on herself.]
Second... um... does anybody know where I can get a winter cloak, or something? I'm not really dressed for the weather around here...
[Skilled observers of backgrounds will notice that she's still in the main terminal building, apparently having opted to stay there for the moment rather than trying to find her way to her apartment in the cold, so anyone who wants to find her can do so there.]

Re: (Video)
[Well, she guessed technically that the mine was in Cloud Peak rather than on it, but details, details.
She smiles at the idea of a griffon that made food too.]
I think Viragor's the only griffon around where I'm from. Or at least, the only one who's that big</>; he could've eaten Cheetara in one bite! He almost did too, before we found out he was a good guy.
(Video)
Ponyville got to help out in bringing the water up to Cloudsdale this past year.
(Her eyes widen in amazement while smiling. She could think of a few friends of hers who would be intrigued by that.)
Really? He's big enough to eat ponies whole?! Who's Cheetara? A friend of yours?
Re: (Video)
And yep! Cheetara's a friend of mine back home. She's a Cleric, so she can run really super-fast. Course, all the Clerics could do that, since that was part of their magic, but I bet Cheetara was still the fastest.
(Video)
Super-fast, huh? That sounds crazy awesome! Nice to know you have some cool friends back home, Kit. Wouldn't mind racing her just to see if she was faster than me.
Re: (Video)
And what's cloud busting?
And well, I dunno how fast you are but Cheetara was beating the Thundertank and its little little riding pods that Lion-O and Tygra were racing in. At least before Kat accidentally fired a bunch of missiles at everybody when he was trying to make the 'Tank go faster, and they had to dodge them.
...We weren't allowed to touch the controls in the Thundertank after that.
[The mention of her brother makes her smile turn a bit sad.]
Wily-Kat's my twin brother. He... didn't get brought here with me.
(Video)
Hehe, you wanna find out how fast I am one day?
(She nods sympathetically, not having siblings herself but knowing what it's like to have someone look up to you.)
...Maybe he'll be brought here someday. Until then, I could look out for you if you want.
Re: (Video)
[Most of the sadness fades away from her smile at that.]
Thanks. I mean, I can take care of myself, and it's not so bad with Emerick around, but... I'd like that.
(Video)
(Her grin softens a bit.)
Okay! I'm not trying to replace him, but if you need anything just ask.
(A beat, and she remembers!) Oh, yeah-you asked about cloud busting? That's the job of Pegasus ponies: we clear the clouds away so the sun can come out, or bring 'em together so it'll rain. Things don't always go to plan, like we could miss a scheduled light drizzle so we make up for it with a downpour.
Re: (Video)
[Meanwhile, Emerick has been pulled into her lap, with her free arm wrapped loosely around the little Digimon.
The explanation of 'cloud busting' puzzles her, though, and she tilts her head a little to one side, curious.]
I always thought clouds just kinda... did that stuff by themselves?
[Though from a farm-kid's perspective, that sounds like a very handy ability to have.]
(Video)
The only place in Equestria the clouds do that by themselves is the Everfree Forest, and it's not a place for kids to be. I've been there a few times myself, but made sure I wasn't alone.
Re: (Video)
Huh... That's weird. Must be nice for farmers though, to have clouds that rain when you tell them to.
And is the Everfree Forest anything like the Forest of Magi Oar? That's where we met Viragor and the Wood Forgers, and it's one of the most enchanted places on all of Third Earth. It's spooky, but it's not so bad long as you don't make Viragor or the tree spirits mad.
(Video)
(She gives it a moment of thought before shaking her head.)
Kinda wish I could say yes, but the Everfree Forest is one of the most scariest places in Equestria! That's where we had to fight not only the trees, but also the dreaded Timber wolves...!
(Give her a second...Rainbow suddenly emits a FIERCE roar that sounded very much like a wolf would.)
(Video)
[And OK, that roar makes Kit jump, and Emerick tense defensively on instinct if only because it's so unexpected to hear it coming from Rainbow. Kit giggles a little right after, though.]
Hehe... that's a really good monster impression. But I bet a timber wolf still isn't as scary as a giant rock monster.
(Video)
(Rainbow giggles a bit herself, letting off a quiet roar but just as accurate.)
Hehe, thanks! I don't know...if you've smashed 'em to pieces, the timber wolves can pull themselves together into one, gigantic timber wolf that backs down from nopony!
(Unless a rock is lodged in it's throat, but the chances of that happening?)
Re: (Video)
But then, I played my flupe and my friend Aburn and the other elephants joined in and we played a note that made him crumble into little pieces and saved everybody!
[She's clearly very proud of that.]
Aburn said we could do it because we achieved perfect harmony, and that's a beautiful and powerful thing.
[She nods sagely, though it's pretty obvious that she's quoting her friend rather than using her own words.]
(Video)
Really? Sweet~! What's a flupe? Is it some kind of musical instrument? It sounds awesome! Is it hard to play?
(Video)
[She pulls out the ring-shaped instrument and holds it up so Dash can see it.]
Back home, It's not hard to play once you know how, but it can take awhile to learn. It takes a lot of practice.
Back home, it used to have some magic to it too; I could play it an put people into a trance, or even put them to sleep if I wanted, though the sleep thing usually only worked on pets and things. Emerick told me that won't work here, though, so now it's just a regular flupe.
(Video)
(As far as she can tell, it's just a ring similar to a horseshoes game she and Applejack once played but Rainbow's certain Kit's instrument is more than that, even without magic.)
(Video)
[Kit sets the D-Terminal down in her lap, since the flupe takes both hands to play. At this new angle, Dash can probably see the various finger holes and things on the flupe, but the instrument's appearance becomes immaterial once Kit puts it to her lips and begins to play.]
(Video)
That...was AWESOME! You were so good! You could be a natural at this! You trained how long with that instrument?
(Video)
Hehe... thanks!
And it's been a few years now. It was a present our parents got for for me after I gave my lion doll to my little sister. They were proud of me, and wanted me to have something to play with too.
...Do you really think I'm that good?
(Video)
(Video)
[At least she doesn't think so.]
Wish I knew what it was about this place that makes it not work, though.
(Video)
(Also something to run by Twilight later, if she wanted to try following up on it. Rainbow was hinting at not just her wings, but Kit's tail as well.)
(Video)
[pause]
Huh... ya know, maybe that's why. Maybe this world wants us to learn how to work together with our partners instead of just trying to do stuff ourselves all the time.
