[The feed opens to Saori in the newbie apartment lobby. Say, when did the ceiling have hanging bundles of green? Saori looks baffled. ]

My dear gods... When did... How...

Does anyone know why there's so much mistletoe here?! This is overkill and screaming "it's a trap." One is just enough, geeze.

Uh listen, if you're not okay with being kissed, you might want to walk through here one by one. Basically, if you're beneath one of these with someone, you have to kiss them.

[Duo hasn't seen the message sent out. He didn't even realize that the mistletoe was out in full force. He just wanted to go out for a walk to get away from Solarmon.

The bill of his cap is pulled down some, and he has his head ducked enough to hide his eyes. Of course, this also keeps him from watching where he's going so it's just inevitable that he runs into Sophia.]

Oomph! Hey! Who's--

[He lifts his head to look at who he's run into. Instantly, Duo stiffens. He remembers her. But does she remember him?]

[Now yes, she's sitting on the floor, but Sophia didn't quite expect to get run into! Commandramon sees Duo first and winces, recalling their last encounter.

As for Sophia, she pulls back just a bit, because her peaceful sitting's been disturbed, with her hands behind her keeping her supported. Recognition passes over her face, because yes, she does remember him. She looks up with pursed lips and a curious face.]

Oh.

['Oh' was right. Duo doesn't even know what to say to her. He could feel his cheeks burning and all he could do was reach up to tug down on the bill of his cap to hide his eyes. He's silent for a long moment before he mumbles...]

M'sorry.

[Well, he apologized, so that's alright. Instead, Sophia states:]

If you're hat's like that I can't see your face.

[Duo hesitates briefly before huffing and lifting his cap ever so slightly. He still doesn't look at Sophia, but at least he's not hiding behind his cap.]

Better?

[Pouty face. ]

[Sophia nods stubbornly.] Better.

[She stands up and dusts herself off.]

You know what's here, right?

[Duo blinks and looks around before raising a brow at Sophia.]

No? What's here? I mean, besides you sitting on the floor.

[She points up, and then she leans in and gives him a kiss on the cheek.]

[Duo barely has time to look up before Sophia is kissing him on the cheek. He blinks, completely confused, and blushes bright pink.]

Wh-what was that for?

[On the other hand, Sophia is quite nonchalant about the whole thing.]

'Cause mistletoe, silly.

...What's mistletoe?

[Yes, he did just ask that...]

[She frowns.]

How come so many people don't know about mistletoe... It's a plant, see? When you're under it, you gotta kiss someone. It's the rules.

[Duo huffs and looks up at the mistletoe.]

That seems dumb.

[But still, she says it's the rules, and while Duo doesn't necessarily obey all the rules, this one doesn't seem so bad. With another huff he leans over and kisses Sophia on the cheek, just as she had done him.]

There. S'okay now?

[She stands bright and proud, grinning.] Mmhm! It's all done now, there we go!

Sophia, you seem really happy about such a little thing.

'Cause it's a Christmas tradition! [She beams. She hasn't had anything Christmas-related in a long time.]

[Duo can’t help but tilt his head some to the side in confusion. But hey, she’s not yelling at him, so he’s counting it as a win. He stands with Sophia, still keeping some distance from Commandramon.]

We didn’t have of this stuff at the Church. Or before I lived at the Church. This is the first time I’ve heard of it.

That's weird. [She crosses her arms.] There was always mistletoe at Christmas.

I use to live with gang of other kids, in this old building the adults tore down. [A shrug.] We didn't care about all that stuff.

Oh. Sounds kinda like some things back home. Some people there didn't care about it either, but mommy said it's nice to feel...normal.

Well it was kinda normal for us. Not having it. And in the Church, it was different. I mean, ya don't go kissin' people in a church. [A pause.] I don't think.

[Correction:] Mommies and daddies get married in churches.

[Oh, well, that's news to him. He's pretty sure no one got married at the church he lived in.]

I don't have a mom or dad, so I don't know about all that stuff.

[It's not said with sadness. He actually sounds like he's just spouting off facts he read in a book.]

Oh. No one decided to be yours?

[That's just what happens. When your mommy and daddy die, you get new ones. Well, sometimes.]

Well, I had Solo for a looooooong time. But he was just a bit older than me. Then Sister and Father...they let me stay at the Church when everyone else got adopted.

But you didn't get adopted. [Sophia sounds sad. It sounds like Duo had his own family sort of, but no one decided to be his parents.]

[Another shrug.]

I had Sister and Father. They took care of me.
