[The view that shows on the D-Terminal is nothing more than the giant crater left behind after the attack. There's some lingering dust floating around, but otherwise, it's just a vast...nothing. Duo's breathing can be heard in the background, heavy as though catching his breath. That was a pretty steep slope to climb, but he did it...

And now there's nothing to go back to. He's lucky to even be alive, he knows, but of course, he made a deal with Death before. That's all this is, right? This is part of the deal? He can live while others die.

Like Solarmon.

The screen moves to focus on a Digiegg that seems to be resting next to Duo. His hands are shaking ever so slightly now, either from strain or from nerves it's hard to say at first. That is...until he actually speaks.]

I-I found it...Solarmon's gone and I found this when I woke up. I dunno what it's for and I dunno where I am and...and...

[There's a quiet sniffle before his voice drops.]

Why does this keep happening?

[The feed cuts out just as the view of Mount Fuji shows up.]

Action:
[Duo is sitting on the edge of the crater with a Digiegg sitting next to him. His D-Stream and D-Terminal are also on the ground with the Digiegg. He's covered in dirt, his cassock is torn, and the only thing he has left from the party was the mask Roze gave him to wear for the masquerade. It's hanging around his neck, the actual mask turned around backwards to face behind him.

He's shaking, and in an attempt to try and stay warm, he's curled up some with his knees pulled to his chest. His eyes are focused solely on the crater, though really, he's not focused on anything at all. He's simply staring, lost in his own little world.]

Duo!?

[ Chika's not completely sure what to think about this, seeing Duo there like that on the video. And that he has an egg near him. It's... it's obvious what that means, but... but... ]

You're still there!? Are you hurt or anything!?

[ She'll deal about what it means that he has an egg instead of Solarmon later. Right now she needed to check on her friend. ]

...I ain't hurt...

[The words are quiet when he answers some time later. He looks at the screen for a brief moment before he looks away, likely at the crater.]

You okay?

[ Chika sighs, glad to hear it, though she can't help but keep frowning a bit. ]

I'm okay. I... I got some people out of the city before... before the blast hit.

Did you...get caught in it, too?

No. I didn't...

Biyomon and I were... well, we were going to head back in when it happened. We... when we could barely see anything afterward, we didn't think to go back and check.

[ She frowns a bit. ]

I... I'm sorry.

...I got trapped somewhere. Dunno where. Someone...they tried to find me.

[He shrugs, but he looks away, still shaking.]

No one could find me, so s'okay. I guess.

No. It's not okay. This... this whole thing shouldn't have happened.

[ They were the good guys, they were supposed to be strong and be able to STOP things like this. Not run while they happened. ]

Well, it did. Nothin' no one could do.

... I know that. That... that digimon was so powerful, and we were completely powerless to do anything.

[Duo looks off-screen. It's true. They couldn't do anything, and all Duo did was run and get trapped somewhere. He huffs and moves, the D-Terminal catching just the top of his head.]

Th-This is so stupid. All of it. Why're we even here if we can't do anything?!

I... I don't know.

[ She's from a world with digimon. She and Biyomon could get to Ultimate before they even came to this Digital World and it's the exact same thing! It's so stupid! Why were they this weak? Even ShineGreymon couldn't have made much of a difference, from what Masaru seemed to think.

She... she didn't know what to tell him. What to say. Nothing could make this better at all. ]

[Duo sniffs a little, the screen moving to reflect the slight shift. He’s quiet for a long moment before he lifts his head to look up, first at the screen, and then into the crater.]

S’like what happened to the Church…

[He doesn’t even know why he’s saying it. He just...needs to. For some reason…]

[ That's... not good at all. She... she knows that whatever memory there is painful, and seeing it basically happening again can't have helped at all. ]

I... I'm sorry Duo. We... the rest of us should've been able to stop this.

[It's just too soon. Much too soon. The Church had only just been blown up when he was brought to this new city. And not even a month later, this new home gets blown up, too. With memories so fresh, it's hard to really move on...

But he still shakes his head, his focus still on the crater.]

S'not like I blame you guys. None of ya blew it up...

[Jupitermon and Minervamon? Yeah...they get all the blame.]

I'm... I'm not saying that you are.

[ Though considering how some of them had been here and what they were used to dealing with, maybe he should. They were supposed to be able to stop all of this, after all. They were supposed to be strong enough to handle whatever the Digital World threw at them. That was how it was supposed to work. ]

[Duo nods his head slowly and falls silent again. It's just a lot to process, and he doesn't really want to think about it. He hurts from climbing. He's tired and he just wants to go somewhere, anywhere but here.]

[ Well, okay. Now what exactly can she say? It's... kinda hard to think of something that might be able to cheer him up. ]

Hey... if... if you want to talk to someone later, just give me a call on my D-Terminal, okay?

[Duo nods his head slowly, trying to offer Chika a small smile.]

Later?

[ She gives a little smile too, but well, it's no where near like what her smile is usually like. ]

Yeah. Later Duo.

[Duo offers a sort of half-wave before he shuts off his D-Terminal. He'll find her later. When everything has settled down...]
