[It's a video. Terra's somewhere outside of HospiTown by the forest in the background; it's late but not so late where he can't be easily seen. He looks like he hasn't been sleeping well, but otherwise alert.]

Hey there. I don't know most of you and most of you don't know me, so ... I'm Terra. I've been told in some detail we're here to save this place, and I intend to get to it.

['Now', apparently.]

Minervamon said she'd be leaving more detailed information later on, but for now I know we need to find Titamon and find the ARCloner as some first steps. It's a lot better than nothing to work with at all, but this world's a lot larger--

[A lot larger than most worlds he's been to. He can't say that, and continues after a moment of thought.]

--Than I expected. There's a lot of ground to cover. So I'm hoping to find some people willing to do some traveling. ...A lot of traveling actually. And willing to share what they find when they're traveling with everyone else. If anyone out there's got experience with uh, scouting, reconnaissance, that sort of thing, and willing to help, I'd like to hear from you.

[It's pretty clear Terra's not used to doing this sort of thing, it's all pretty awkwardly stated, with a bit of fidgeting here and there too, but he manages to stay pretty calm. This was a thing he was sure would help. Now if he could find enough people willing to help..]

Yeah... I've seen what happens when people don't.

[ scary digis can be scary. and really, Sora's... mostly all right. thing is, he really WANTS to be friends with Terra. it's super important. Aqua had been so worried... and in his dream his heart still ached when Riku and Kairi became Terra and Aqua. so there has to be SOMETHING, right? ]

Vixie'll probably come. She's just been thinking a lot lately. A little weird, but eh...

[Terra hasn't, yet. But he's been told it's bad. Controlling the darkness to that degree, to not let it be an influence if Dorumon digivolved, was going to be difficult. Maybe it wouldn't have been months ago but now.. now it was.

He'd have to be very careful. And he wasn't so good at careful.]

... Thinking a lot really isn't a bad thing, is it? Maybe she's got all this recent mess on her mind. What with the city getting vaporized..

[And all those people who'd likely been in it. What happened to them? Were they gone forever?]

When I digivolve, I don't know what I'll be yet, but I bet it'll be good for travel. We should work on that! I'm sure Sora's friends already know how, maybe they can help us to get there.

[Dorumon wanted them to be friends too. There had to be a way. At the least they had world-saving in common! He'd just keep making suggestions until something seemed to work.]

Actually, you were on my mind Terra.

[ with a "huh?" Sora and Ryu turn a bit. and there is Vixie, with small smile and a little wave. Sora seems pretty in the dark, just giving her a questioning look. she ruffles the kid's hair, reassuring him that everything's fine. ]

I need to talk to you at some point. Maybe not right away, but eventually.

[ Sora looks like he's about to ask WHY, but oops. sure is a paw covering her partner's mouth. ]

Usually the best way, though, to evolve is under the duress of battle. Training or in the middle of crisis... It doesn't really matter!

Huh?

[A moment later Terra decides he needs to work on responses that don't make him sound as much of an idiot as that single blank statement of confusion.]

Ah. Okay. About what?

[There is the barest tips of dark ears, and then a white nose.]

Evolution tips! Secret methods only the Chosen are supposed to know, but somehow she found out!

... I don't know if it's about that. Besides, she just said battle in one form or another works best.

It has to be! You should make use of it! It's like cheating on a test, but not like that at all! Secret methods!! And then we'll be amazing.

We could help you with that too, you know...

[ Vixie just gives her partner a hug, smile still on her face. ]

I'm sure they can figure it out. Think of it as bonding time! Besides... I have my own business. Secret digimon business.

[ the Renamon looks at those ears popping up. she wonders if the guy suspects... ]

Right, Dorumon?

I already suggested that, weren't you paying attention?

[The size difference between Dorumon and Terra is considerable; Dorumon might be big for a rookie but Terra was still a fair bit taller and it takes a lot of stretching and reaching and work to even get a little bit into view.

It's very clear Terra's aware of this, because he's being veeerryy careful about keeping it just out of reach of his reaching partner.]

Secrets, huh. I'm not bad at training, if that's one of the ways we'll figure it out pretty quick.

But everything's better with company! You should see what she wants. And then tell me about all of it, if it's best I don't know first.

[He might know. He might not. The future is obscure, but Dorumon's aware of everything up until Terra's arrival point.

He's still reaching, but reaching claws never quite get ahold of anything they're trying to get ahold of, and eventually just fasten onto Terra's arm and tug. Let him seeeee!]

Well. Alright, we'll see what secret digimon business she's got, when there's time.

Sorry, Dorumon. Kind of got distracted.

[ by his partner and her sudden need for secrecy. what could she be up to? Sora shrugs. he's not going to worry over it. she likely has her reasons and hey. gotta trust your partner. ]

Right... Where should we start? On the looking around thing.

It's okay.

[Terra was wary of secrets. Or anything at all that seemed like deceptions. He'd gotten more than his fill of those lately, but he's cautiously optimistic that whatever Vixie had in mind, it wouldn't end in disaster. Hopefully.]

Anywhere you'd like. We don't know much about this location at all, and getting familiar with it, and what resources there are to use, would be good.

We scoped out Star City with Wheeljack already. There are some giant rocks there and it's still pretty newish...

So maybe the Metal Factory? It's not too far away from there either.

Alright. What did you note besides giant rocks? Any sources of water that's drinkable? Anything that might be food?

[What Terra's after is specific. Not just roaming around and seeing what's there... but finding the resources to survive away from HospiTown for longer than a couple days. This town just didn't have the supplies for a long-term journey.]

The metal factory sounds promising.. Is it really a factory?

There's only the river on the way. The town itself is a lot like this. The mayor is pretty, uh...

Annoying, from Vixie's description.

[ Vixie nods. Starmon and his challenge... AUGH. ]

[Terra glances down briefly at Dorumon, as if seeking confirmation for something. Whatever Dorumon's response is, he can't be seen, or for that matter heard.]

Do you think you'd be willing to travel that way again, and take Dorumon with you? What do you mean by 'annoying', anyway? That could mean anything from he attacks newcomers to he demands pie eating contests every ten minutes or something.

[There's a whole lot of possibilities!]

Sure! The more the merrier, really.

And Starmon just wants to challenge you. I think he believes you're going to take away his Star title or whatever. It's not like we were interested in that in the first place...

[Dorumon would be easier to carry than Terra, and especially easier to carry than both of them. In theory the digimon would keep an eye out for the things he actually wanted to know about and could relay it afterwards.

If it were true that the digimon were the only defense they had, he'd just have to be more careful til they got back. It was an acceptable risk.]

...'Starmon' is his title? I thought whatever-mon were your species types, that can't be taken away.

It's a name and a species I guess. I'm Dorumon, but there's other Dorumons out there.

... Odd. That'd be like calling me Human all the time, instead of Terra.

[Dorumon makes a small, thoughtful noise at this, but doesn't say anything else yet.]

[ Sora and Vixie shrug. they don't know. they don't really get it either. the digimon had just made a rather big stink about it.

but Ryu perks up, as much as he can anyway. ]

But you are Terra. That is your designation.

[ Ryu is not sure that he can explain this to humans. 8T not overly well. ]

When I was little, my designation was 'hey kid', people only began calling me Terra when there was more than one kid around. Different names mean less confusion when someone calls you.

[Designations don't matter too much. Less confusion is better. Not getting six Dorumons if he calls out instead of one, is also better.]

There's a lot more Dorumon out there but I'm the only me. Do I need a different name?

If you want to be certain I mean you and not every other Dorumon in hearing distance, it might help.

[There's a pause. He knows there was a greater purpose to this entire conversation. Wasn't he going to go look around? .. No, Sora's probably not nearby regardless.]

Aside from that, when might you be able to take Dorumon for a bit of surveying?

Whenever! We could go now, if you're feeling like getting this done as soon as possible.

[ this kid is up and rearing to go. ]

[Eartips can be seen again from Dorumon, but not the rest of him. Flying? Maybe?? He had little wings but not enough to hope to ever get him off the ground.]

Sure, that sounds fine. You know what to keep an eye out for?

I think so, yes. You're staying here?

Yeah. It'll be easier.

...Will you be okay by yourself??

[Terra pauses for a long moment, clearly working on finding a better way to say what first came to mind.]

I'm used to being by myself. It'll be fine. Just make sure you stay close to the others. I'm sure if anything happens, Sora and his friends will make sure you don't get hurt.

Sure we'll keep him safe...

[ but Sora and his partner still feel uneasy. to separate the two... they're aren't so sure that this should be something they should support. ]

But are you sure about this?

[The fact that both Dorumon AND Sora question it draws a blank look. Why wouldn't it be okay? Is HospiTown going to come under sudden attack or something? There's a brief glance around, but everything seemed perfectly normal to him.]

Sure. Why not? Do you think something will happen?

Thing is... You don't know when something will happen. And I'm sure that Dorumon doesn't really want to leave your side.

We wouldn't leave Sora unprotected.

[...Nope. None of this seems terribly relevant to him. He doesn't need twenty-four hour protection, nobody's out to get him.

Not here anyway.]

Dorumon understands the reason you send someone qualified to do a certain task. Sometimes that means doing something the other person can't. I'll be dead weight, he won't.

{Dorumon isn't happy about it, no. But he also trusts that Terra has some idea of what he's talking about, whether or not he actually does.]

It's okay. We wouldn't be gone for days and days anyway, right? It's just a short flight, if we're flying. If I can't trust my own Chosen, who can I trust?

[He sounds a little uncertain about it anyway, even though he's doing his best to hide it. Something could happen..]

... Maybe Vixie could stay with him and make sure nothing happens, she wanted to talk to him anyway right?

[Terra sighs at this, but Dorumon sounds a touch hopeful. Then he could do what Terra wants him to do (which will surely get him brownie points!), AND he'll know his Chosen is safer than he would be alone.]

You wouldn't be dead weight, Terra. You've been on other worlds and know what you're specifically looking for.

[ ah duh? experienced with exploration. they can never have enough of that...

but Sora looks to Vixie with the suggestion. she nods, indicating that she could stay, if that is what it takes. Sora doesn't mind and neither does Ryu... but it doesn't matter if the four of them don't mind. what matters is... ]

If Terra agrees to it, Dorumon. It's all up to him.

[That draws a genuinely amused sounding chuckle.]

I already said even I don't know what I'm looking for. Except for the resources bit, and anyone can do that. Food, water, shelter. Places that look like they might hold a lot of people, or places good to train at. Noteworthy things that might be useful later, or things that look out of place. That sort of stuff.

[Things any sharp-eyed person should be watching for, in a new world. Terra had heard fine that Sora had no teacher, but it didn't sink in exactly how much was absent from his education.]

If you're only doing a fly out from here to where Starmon is and back, then that's not too far or too much for you, is it?

[Maybe it was. Maybe they were insisting because Sora needed more than two digimon to keep an eye on him.

... No. Terra couldn't keep an eye on the people he cared about most, he'd be terrible for keeping an eye on people he barely knew.]

... I don't really think I need a keeper but if it'll make you feel better, it's alright. I'll .. I don't know, feed her dinner or something.

[What do you do with other people's digimon? What did Vixie even eat? Mostly he just had a lot of bread and meat.]

It'll make me feel better.

[ what do you need resources for when you just make friends with the people that are already there? not to mention that he can manage. mostly. Sora shakes his head, a little amused himself. at least Terra actually laughed. a little. that counts for something. ]

It's not too much. I think part of it is just... It's hard to bond with your partner if you're not near them. And, again, without that bond? Might as well kiss evolving and being able to do much of anything goodbye.

[ which means there are things that can be done. work arounds. but this is the easiest by far. ah well... ]

But if you two are okay with it, we're okay too.
