The British have sustained major defeats, Chesapeake the latest amongst them. Monmouth before that. Even now Washington leads his forces to Yorktown; I do not doubt he will claim victory. As for the British, the cost of sustaining a war in a faraway land is crippling them at home, and it is becoming less and less practical to maintain a grip on the colonies.
