23 Butterflies | Video

[The feed comes to life as Sprout rubs the back of her head, looking a little embarrassed.]

So uh...hey guys...

[While not entirely whispering, she does seem to be making an effort to keep her voice down.]

So...sorry that we uh...disappeared for a bit. The three of us kinda got...swept up in a data stream that dropped us off in some forest...without the D-Terminal, conveniently. [You can hear the sarcasm dripping in her voice.]

We just got back...like literally just got back. Seems we missed a bunch'a stuff, huh?

[Her expression sobers for a moment.] Looks like a lotta people left, huh? [Sprout glances behind her with a bit of a concerned expression, and her next words sound more like she's talking to herself.] Hope she doesn't get too upset...

[Then she clears her throat, turning back to the camera.] So yeah, uh...Just wanted to let you guys know Fluttershy's back, safe and sound. She's doing okay, nothing some days resting up won't fix.

...Oh yeah...Chris, if you uh...whenever you see this, mind giving us a call? I think Fluttershy wanted to ask you something...

[As Sprout moves to turn the D-Terminal off, there's a brief glimpse of Fluttershy - a little scratched up but on the whole looking all right - on the screen behind her, lying in bed with Choco sleeping against her side and a rabbit plush tucked in her arms as she slept.]

[Trixie holds up a hand]

You are excused from the practice. Trixie was not expecting a gift from Fluttershy anyway. Trixie is not Fluttershy's special somepony even if Trixie has developed an appreciation for Fluttershy's kindness and radiance.

O-Oh...um...okay.

But...you still got me something, even though I'm not your special somepony. And giving a gift on Hearts and Hooves day isn't just for somepony special...

Bah and bah again!

You were away from the area struggling to survive. And you have shown Trixie nothing but kindness since she arrived here.

You. Are. Excused.

W-Well...if you're sure...

[She'd still try to find something for Trixie later.]

Trixie is always sure.

Now before you continue to try to make your crest explode with kindness, Trixie insists on coming in so you may speak to her.

O-Oh yes, of course... [She opens the door wider, stepping aside to let Trixie in.]

[Trixie makes her way inside, already familiar with it from when Fluttershy let her hide from Kovu. She turns with a graceful flourish of her cape and waits]

...H-Here, why don't we sit down?

[She may or may not be stalling a bit.]

Hmm?

[She takes a seat that she particularly liked because it put her as the center of view for anyone in the room but she's watching Fluttershy like she's center stage]

Well?

[Walking over to another chair, Fluttershy sits, playing with her hands a little as they rest on her lap.]

W-Well...um...H...Have you ever met, or heard of Chris...? Chris Kratt...Or his brother, Martin?

[Her face pulls flat]

They are both entirely too trusting. One of them is made uncomfortable by Trixie's nudity while the other concocts horrible creations of sandwhiches.

...but both have been very kind to Trixie.

[There was a bit of fondness in Fluttershy's smile.] They're very kind to everyone, I think...

[She pauses for a moment, then clears her throat.]

A-Anyway...um...s-see, they both decided to travel too...to see the continent and get a better idea of the land...

And...before they left...Chris had...had asked me to go with them...

Oh...

[It takes a moment for her to realize what this means]

OH!

[Another moment]

Trixie sees...

...and Fluttershy would enjoy this sort of expedition?

Well...I'm not...sure really. When he asked me, I...I turned him down...The thought of exploring the way they do...is rather frightening.

B-But...after getting lost, and how long it took me to get back, I realized...that as much as I love nature, I...I have no idea how to handle myself in it...

[Trixie doesn't look convinced]

How does Fluttershy mean? Exploring the way they do?

Just...the kind of traveling they do...Camping out, roughing it...that kind of thing. I've never actually done it before...

Interesting.

[Because even though Trixie prefers the luxury of a cart there have been many nights she's had to rough it]

And Fluttershy brings this up because she is unsure if she ought to?

Well...I was at first...that's why I...I turned him down to begin with...That and I...I was worried about leaving...you and Rainbow Dash...and all the other friends I have here...

But after getting lost, I...I realized I had a lot to learn about...wilderness survival...So I wanted to go with Chris and Martin the next time they leave...

I just...wasn't sure if you and Rainbow Dash would be okay with it...

Hmm...

[She stands up and paces away from Fluttershy as she thinks. with her back to Fluttershy she finally speaks playing up the Drama]

Fluttershy, As Trixie understands it you hold the Crest of Kindness correct?

[She blinks.] That...is true, yes...

As she thought!

And, is Trixie not correct in her belief that since your arrival here so long ago you have made many many MANY friends? Many of whom have gotten hurt physically, emotionally or mentally? And because you are so kind you felt the pain as if it were your own?

AND is it not also true many of Fluttershy's friends have already been sent home?

AND FURTHER STILL is it not also true that Fluttershy goes out of her way to make sure everypony she knows and cares about is OK often at the sacrifice of her own time, energy and well being?

[All the while not looking at her]

W-Well, I...I don't know if I'd say all that, but...

Yeah, s'all true.

[Fluttershy may not be able to answer directly, but Choco had no problem with it.]

WELL THEN!

[She flourishes her cape when she spins around and even throws a couple of smoke pellets to the floor for that dramatic effect.]

Trixie insists...neigh she demands that you go on this trip! Do something selfish for yourself and explore what the world and those two boys have to offer! For once worry less about your fully capable friends and worry more about yourself!

If it will ease your concerns Trixie will even look after Rainbow Dash, though I doubt she will appreciate it.

[Because it's not like Trixie is doing it to cling to the only pony left in town nope]

[Fluttershy jumped a little at the display. But Trixie's words were not lost on her, and she can't help blinking at the other girl for a moment.]

R...R-Really...? I-It'd...be all right...?

Yes of course!

[Swishing the smoke away with her cape and stepping forward]

Trixie knows a thing or two about greed, selfishness and pride. In fact Trixie has been working doubly hard to try and make up for those parts of her. But you Fluttershy are the exact opposite of Trixie. You are kind, generous, gentle and loving. If ANYONE deserves to do something they really want to do deep down? It is you.
