A Break from Rumors [video]

[Saori's in her room, sitting on the bed. Both Guren and Kiyomi were asleep with their heads resting on her lap. Looks like the morning training did a number on them.]

Well, that was one hell of a month to say the least. So I think a good break is in order. I'm going to leave in two days for File Island. I promised Monzaemon that I'd visit often to check up on them because of those Black Gears from earlier. If anyone is interested in tagging along, please let me know. I'll be staying there for a few days to see how the rest of the island is doing. If I find anything of interest, I'll be sure to let you guys know.

Now if you excuse me, I got to find a way out of this. I don't think I can feel my lap anymore...

Oh...you're going to be traveling...?

[Somehow, she hated how that always seemed to make it a little easier on her conscience.]

I'll probably going there twice a month to make sure they're okay. Apparently these Black Gears have terrorized File Island before. And to be honest, I need a change of scenery now and then but I'll be back sooner than you think.

A-Ah...I see...

I-It's...okay though. I...The reason I'm asking is because...well, I...I'm thinking of...traveling too...

Eh? Oh, I see. Are you traveling with just your partners or with someone?

[She can't help blushing for some reason.] Y-Yes, I...I'm going to be traveling with Chris Kratt...

And Martin...b...both of them...

[She switches the setting to private since ...well, that blush was rather obvious and she'll give Fluttershy her privacy.]

With the brothers, huh? That blush...you like Chris, don't you?

[So much blushing now.] W-Well....I-I...

Yes.

[She softly smiles.]

Aww, that's cute. Sorry to put you on the spot like that. So have you been able to...you know, tell him?

N-No, that's okay...I've wanted to...tell people, I just...wasn't sure how...

W-Well I...I actually did tell him...back during Ch-Christmas...it was...kind of an accident, though...

Oh! You did? Then....

[She doesn't want to jump to any conclusions. Though considering Fluttershy never mentioned she was dating anyone.]

I did, yes...He...He wasn't sure how he felt about me though. And to be honest, I still don't think he does...The...fact that I have feelings for him kind of...surprised him I guess...

Right now we're...w-we're just trying to spend some time together...and see what happens...

That's a very good plan. Building a relationship takes both time and commitment. And besides, you never know unless you try, right? I mean, look at me and Laguna. I didn't think I'd click with anyone, to be honest.

[Fluttershy smiles a little, though it fades after a little as she glances away.]

Did...you ever worry that...you wouldn't?

[The smile on her falls a bit. She bites her lip before nodding.]

Yeah, I do even now, to be honest. I'm mostly afraid of the day when the subject about who I am back home will ever come up. Normally, if someone says they're a god, the potential backlash can be rather devastating. So, it becomes a matter of "you never asked". I want people to judge me for I am as Saori, not by who I am as a goddess.

I'm glad Laguna was able to accept me.

[She seemed a bit curious about what Saori was saying, but decided it might be better not to ask, especially if that was something Saori had been worried about all this time.]

I-I'm just...worried that, eventually...Chris will decide that he...he doesn't feel the same way about me. And I know...I know, if he doesn't, then there's nothing I can do about that, but...

Even just thinking about it hurts...And I don't know what to do if he says it...

Hmmmm...It's good you realize you can't force him to like you if he doesn't feel the same. Still, it's too early to think about rejection. You still want advice about it, don't you?

[She nodded.] Y...Yes, please...

[ Chika's not really looking to happy to be reminded of everything that was going on with the month, but well... yeah. It was pretty crazy.

Though at least she's giggling at the sight of the two digimon pinning their partner down. ]

... Umm, how many days are you going to be on File Island for?

Hmm...I'm not sure how long it takes to learn about the island. Maybe 3 or 4 days if I have Kiyomi digivolve into Aquilamon to survey first and then meet some of the locals.

How are you doing, Chika?

Oh. [ She was thinking of going there with Saori, but well... that's a bit of a long time. And she and Biyomon still weren't completely recovered yet. Maybe it wouldn't be a good idea. Either way though...]

Anyway, I'm doing okay. Kinda still tired though. Everything was kinda busy and stuff.

[ Also she and Biyomon went up against a Mega Digimon. So... yeah. You're lucky she's still not passed out or whatever. ]

Ah, you wanted to come along? Well, how about next time?

That's good. Rest up and don't push yourself too much.

Okay. I will...

But... umm... [ Chika blushes a bit. Because it didn't really take Saori long to guess. ]

Was I really that obvious?

[She nods.]

Yes, but that's not a bad thing. After you all, you were the one who rallied us to go. So, it's understandable you're worried about File Island. Don't worry, patrolling and defending others is something I did back home too.

[ That was a good point, and Chika does perk up a little bit. ]

Okay! You be sure to stay safe though, and don't be afraid to call for help if you need it. I'm sure I can get Masaru-niichan and Agu-chan to get us back there if you need us!

Well, the only place that I really went to during the whole mess was the icy areas. So... umm... if you could check there that'd be really nice.

[ She knows it's not Frigimon's fault that she got blasted by her snowballs and she wants to make sure she and the Mojyamon and everyone else is okay. ]

Thanks Saori-san! I hope everything's okay with them. And that we figure out what's going on with those gears soon.

Do we have any idea where they came from?

I'm afraid not but maybe I'll find out when I'm over there. Let's just hope they haven't striked again while we were taking care of stuff here.

I hope they don't. It was bad enough the first time.

[ She still remembers what the snowball to the back felt like. Frigimon's attacks hurt a lot. ]

Monzaemon? The giant toy teddy bear Digimon?

Yeah. Guren and Kiyomi were able to get rid of the Black Gear lodged inside of him. You know him, Harley?

Not personally...but come on there are Digimon that look like stuffed animals. How am I NOT already in love with them?

What's he like?

True! I told him my kids would love to be in a place like the town he's in.

He's a good guy when he's not controlled by a black gear, actually. And surprisingly strong on top of that. He told me I'm always welcome to come back.

Aww how cute!

So basically you're just gonna go back and make sure we didn't miss any gears or anything?

Yeah. It seems odd that these black gears suddenly appeared. I'm going to check on the locals and their rumor mill about anything. It helps to build a network with them.

Well if you need some help I can skip on after ya. Most of my clients these days are over the network anyway.

It'll be a regular road trip, except without the roads.

Yay! Quality time with one of my gal pals. The only way it could be better is if I could get Black Arachnia to come. But I don't think you two would get along so great.
