4th Lullaby [Video]
[A cheerful-looking Kit appears on the D-Terminals of those who happen to be watching]
Hi, everybody! I got a great idea that I wanna see what you guys think about
See, now that the weather's starting to warm up a bit, I was thinking about planting a garden. That way we can grow fresh vegetables and things! And even after we go home, it'll still be there for the digimon, long as they keep it up.
Problem is, planting and taking care of a garden is a lot of work for just one person, even if they had their Digimon helping. So I wanted to know if anybody'd be interested in helping me out with it? Anybody who does'll be welcome to a share of the harvest at the end!
[Private to SG Starscream]
Hey, Starscream? Aburn showed me how to make this so only you can see it cause I wanted to ask just you something else.
I wanna know... will you teach me how to read and write? Cause I can't right now, and I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of stuff because of it. You seem pretty smart, and you're one of the only grown-ups I know around here.
So, uh.. will you? Please?
(Video)
Of course we'll help you out! All for 6 and 6 for all! Am I right?!
Um...I don't think that's how the saying goes...
(Rainbow's facepalming in the background, if she can be seen between the wings of both Bird Digimon.)
Re: (Video)
Yeah, I don't think that's how it goes either.
(Video)
They've got a point, though. Whenever you need us, just let me know and we'll be there! Promise.
Re: (Video)
And thanks!

[Tony can be seen just coming into the room from the background.]
What are you signing me up for?
no subject
I'm going to be planting a garden, and was looking for people who'd be willing to help, since even with two digimon, it's a lot of work for one person. Your digimon said you might be able to build something to help with that.
no subject
Garden, huh? You'll be needing a sprinkler system. Not something especially hard to put together. Only real thing I could help out with.
[He looks at Port.]
What did you think I could help with?
Building something awesome.
Of course.
[He rolls his eyes.]
no subject
[She seems a bit unsure what that is at first, before remembering.]
Oh! Like those things they have in the buildings here that are supposed to squirt water out if there's a fire? Yeah, that'd be really good! We wouldn't have to worry about whether or not it'd rain enough, then.
So, uh... once I find a good spot for the garden, would you make us one? Please?
no subject
I could probably see my way to doing that, sure.
Probably won't even take me very long.
no subject
[Because dry seasons used to be the bane of their existence back on the farm so a way to reliably get water to the crops even if the weather doesn't cooperate is a very good thing.]
I'll let you know when I find a good spot, OK? [pause] Oh! And do you need us to try and find you the stuff to build it with, like pipes and things? Or are you getting those yourself?
[a surprisingly somber audio]
That sounds really great. Count me in.
Re: [a surprisingly somber audio]
[The voice sounds familiar, meaning Kit's likely heard it over the terminal before, but she can't really place it.]

I had a friend who was really into gardening. I never had a thumb for it, you could say I'm all thumbs but none of them green. But I'll still lend a hand.
no subject
[And ah, now her sounding a bit sad makes sense.]
That's OK. I'm sure we can find something for you to help with. That way, if your friend ever shows up here, you can show them what a good job you did!
no subject
[She lightens up a bit at that and smiles.]
Yeah, I bet she'll be real impressed!
no subject
And yeah, I bet she will! Our garden is going to be the best!
[Because grow all the things!]

What's your name, by the way? Mine's Wily-Kit, but you can just call me Kit.

Just wonderin', but... have you ever worked in a garden before? Cause one of the other ladies who said she was gonna help doesn't really know much about it, and I should probly know what people can do before we start.
no subject
Mm-hmm. We've got a lot of gardens on Air Temple Island; we try to be as self-sufficient as possible and not rely on constant supply runs to the city. So we grow as much as we can.
no subject
That's a good idea when you're living on an island. That way, if there's a storm or something, you always have food on hand.
no subject
Do you know what you want to plant yet?
no subject
Uh-huh. I've got seeds for carrots, parsnips, tomatoes, two kinds of peppers- spicy ones and sweet ones-, cabbage, and strawberries.Strawberries aren't really a vegetable, but I have the seeds so I figure why not?
no subject
no subject
Yep! Plus if anybody finds any other seeds in the General Store that they want to try, we could do them too.
private
Of course I will help you, Kit. Had I known earlier, I would have asked if you wanted to learn.
Re: private
Well, I thought about saying something earlier, but then things got kinda crazy what with the trouble on File Island and all the weird things going on around here.
But anyway, thanks! About when do you think would be a good time to meet up for lessons and stuff?
private
Now then. I can give you my room number or we can meet somewhere. Any time is all right, really. It's not as if I have pressing matters to attend to.
Re: private
I don't really have any books or anything to practice with, though. Think they might have some at the General Store?
Video
Re: Video
[Hahah, yep, up with the sun for some of it. You may regret this later, Chika.]
Video
So, what type of veggies were you thinking of growing? I mean, I'm pretty sure that the stuff we can grow here is different from what you could back home. Unless you had seeds of plants with you, it might be a bit different than what you were thinking about doing.
Re: Video
Plus any the general store might have that anyone wants to grow. Aburn read me the growing directions for each of them, and they all sound like something we can do.
Video
[ She pauses, a bit confused on why the digimon needed to read the stuff since all writing should be translated but that's not really important. ]
And that's good. Because I'm sure that even if we grow everything you have some of us might want to grow more stuff too. But I think we're really off to a good start with all of that stuff.
Re: Video
[And it would've gotten wrecked by Jupitermon anyway, so just as well.]
And yeah, it's good to grow a variety of things. If you grow just one thing all the time, after awhile, it sucks all the good stuff out of the soil. You gotta plant something else every so often that puts the good stuff back into the soil. Least that's what Papa told us.
[Because Thunderans have mastered the concept of crop rotation.]
Oh, and I should probly ask, have you ever worked in a garden before? Just so I know what everyone can do and all.
Video
I mean, don't all the plants need the good stuff?
Re: Video
That's part of why some soil is good for growing grain, but not for growing fruit and stuff too.
