[ The feed opens to Kazu looking a little awkward. Like he looks like he's excited to ask something but at the same time he also feels like it's a stupid question and he should totally just bail out now before he embarrasses himself. Luckily Psychemon has got this covered. ]

Kazu wants to know if anyone around here knows how to skate too and if you wanna go skating with him sometime!

Psyche I was just gonna- urg. Well, yeah, any skaters around here? And you know, I mean even if you don't I can show you how if you're interested or something. I found a shop that sells normal inlines and stuff at the mall too so...

What he means is he's lonely and he wants to skate with his friends again instead of just alone!

You're really no help at all Psyche...

[ He sighs and fiddles with his cap. ]

But uh, yeah! If you're interested or something just give me a call... or I'll be at the mall this afternoon anyways.. there are some nice rails and stuff outside...

[ He trails off a little awkwardly before shaking his head and flipping the D-Terminal off. ]

[You know what, Hibiki's just been moping around in his room for days, and his partner is currently asleep in a flowerpot, and he really can't handle another night of barely sleeping and agonizing over all the things he's done wrong and what could be going wrong while he sits here doing nothing. This world is surreal but it seems safe enough. And he really needs to get his mind off home.]

Is it a problem that I haven't been skating since middle school?

[ Kazu seriously just looks utterly thrilled that someone actually responded to him. He's got the biggest dorkiest grin ever right now. ]

Nah, not all! You might be a little shaky at first but the basics of something like this isn't something you just forget.

[The smile is contagious.]

Then I'll be there. I really need to get out of the apartment.

[ Smiles are great like that! ]

Awesome! You know how to get there?

[He nods.]

My partner showed me around on the first day.

Great! I'm actually almost there myself, just come over whenever you feel like it, I'm not planning on going anywhere.

I'll be over in a bit, I just have to... water my digimon.

[His life is weird. Also, I'll switch to action tags after this~]

Yeah sure, take your time!

[ Kazu gave up on what's weird and what's not a long time before even coming to this crazy place. ]

[He turns off the feed.]

[About half an hour later, Hibiki arrives at the mall, fiddling with his d-terminal and wearing his normal bunny-hooded jacket. He's trying to figure out how exactly this thing works when paying for things-- he's going to need skates, and he might as well replace his dead mp3 player while he's here.]

[ Kazu's been here for a little while, and had just decided to take a break sitting on some steps outside. He looks up and recognizes the kid from the video chat earlier. ]

Hey-

[ And then he realizes he doesn't know his name yet. Oops. ]

-you!

[In almost the same moment, Hibiki realizes he hadn't introduced himself on the feed. He laughs a little, but he's smiling. No harm done.]

Hibiki Kuze. Sorry I forgot to tell you earlier.

Nah I forgot too kinda.

[ Well Psychemon took care of it kinda actually. But it wasn't like official really or anything. ]

I'm Kazuma Mikura. But my friends just call me Kazu.

Kazu it is then. You mind if we stop by an electronics store while we're getting my skates? My mp3 player's been dead since I got here.

Yeah sure.

[ He reaches down to flick his wheel locks on. He doesn't have sneakers and the last time he tried skating in the mall he almost got tossed out. ]

They have a pretty nice one in there. I was thinking of getting a new pair of headphones myself. You know, those big chunky studio style ones?

[Kazu, stop being the kid that old people don't want on their lawns.]

I've always liked those, but they don't fit in pockets so there was always the problem of bringing them to school. Guess that doesn't apply here, though.

[Come on, Hibiki, just admit that you could never settle on a color because it wouldn't match all your clothes and you're the 'hide in my headphones' type.]

[ He is ALWAYS that kid... he's just a little better about it here because the 'old people' around these parts frequently have lasers beam eyes or swords as big as he is. ]

I don't see a problem bringing them to school. Just hang them around your neck.

[ He grins and shrugs. ]

I mean the worst that'd happen is the teacher yelling at you to put them away, but that's easy to ignore.

[. . . I can see where that would pose a problem.]

That'd probably snowball, unfortunately.

[He laughs a little and shakes his head.]

My best friend is... not the greatest student, and we really only get away with sharing homework answers because I'm so well behaved they think it must be a coincidence.

[ He snorts. The majority of guys in his class are at least somewhat delinquent so finding someone 'well behaved' is like... finding a unicorn or something. ]

You gotta rebel a little though, you know? Bet you could get away with stuff if you really are a good student.

[ He shoulders the door open. ]

You wanna hit the electronics store first?

[Hibiki is that unicorn.]

It is my last year... Might be time to cut loose a little.

[Assuming they ever get back. And the world isn't ruined when he gets there.]

Sounds good to me. That'll probably be quicker, I don't know what I'm doing with skates.

[Quietly pinged. He did recently talk to Nil about skating, so...] Um... Yeah, I've...got my own. Not real good at anything like...rails, just...skating.

[ Yesss... another skater! Oh man, he's pretty happy 'bout now. ]

Hey that's cool man. All skill levels are totally welcome.

[Oh, he takes a little offense to that! Playful offense, but offense.]

I didn't say I wasn't good. I just...don't do grinding, rail-slides. That's not the kinda stuff we worked on back home.

[ Kazu winces a little and tugs at the edge of his hat. Damn. He didn't fuck up already, did he? ]

Sorry. I'm kinda used to riders who do lots of tricks and stuff. What sorta things do you work on then?

Don't worry about it. Mostly, uh... Speed, agility, dodging... ...D'you know hockey?

I do speed skating too.

[ That's actually like... his primary thing. But tricks are way more fun. ]

And yeah, vaguely. It's not that popular a sport where I'm from, but I watched a couple games last time the winter olympics rolled around.

It's what I practice for. Er, practiced for, anyway. Mostly on ice, but I'm good at in-line skates too. So a mix of speed and...endurance.

[When to dodge and when to let yourself get smashed into a wall. The way some of those kids play it's dangerous.]

I bet you got loads of that. Geez though hockey...

[ He shudders a little... mostly in slight terror. ]

A guy like me'd probably get killed playing that.

[In somewhat surprise, Cam laughs.] What? It's not that...

[He trails off and thinks for a moment...and then nods his agreement.] Yeah, never mind, hockey's pretty rough.

[Looks can definitely be deceiving; 5'7" is not short but at first glance Cam's kinda gentle and puppy-like. Who would think he's the hockey player type?] But uh, freestyle and rail grinds, I'd probably break my neck doing that, so...to each their own?

[ And it's hard to tell from the screen but Kazu is seriously skinny. He's barely 110 lbs soaking wet. He figures he'd be a smear on the ice before the first minute went by. ]

It's honestly not as difficult as it looks! I mean I've only been skating for about a year myself. If you've got the speed and agility that's pretty much half of it right there.

[ God knows he was a spectacular failure the first month or so. ]

[Cam raises a skeptical eyebrow, about to deny the plausibility of him trying it, but.

Well, then he smiles and shrugs.] I...guess I could try it. Yeah, why not? You...still up for company? [Wait--] Uh, right, and I'm Cam.

'Course I am! And I'm Kazu.

[ Oh wait. ]

I think Psyche already mentioned that... but yeah, swing by the mall whenever you're free.

[He holds back a laugh.] Yeah, he did. 'Kay, I'll, uh...bring my own skates.

[Feed ends, and in about ten minutes, Cam trudges on over. Lucette follows, interested in seeing more skating.]

Now, Campbell, you don't need a DexDorugamon or a Beemon to skate?

[Snorts.] No, Lucette, I usually don't dodge giant monsters. [He spies Kazu and waves, tentative.] Uh, hey!

[Well she's tired of being cooped up in this place and she loves being active.]

Ah, I would be interested. It's been a while since I've gone skating but I've always enjoyed it.

It's really fun! You should swing by.

[ ...really cute girl to hang out with him? Yes pleeease. But oh god what if he does something lame while she's there? What if he falls flat on his face? That would be awful. He'd never recover... ]

That sounds awesome!

[Well she's actually looking forward to this. She's smiling.]

I'm Marino. What's your name?

[ He's smiling back.. okay so maybe it's a kinda half dorky half nervous sort of smile but... hey! It's a smile. ]

It's Kazuma. Eh, but you can just call me Kazu if you want. Most people do.

[ Trying to be smooth... smooooth... ]

Oh. Mmm...okay.

It's nice to meet you Kazu-kun.

[Not like she's an expert with guys but he seems nice...and at least he doesn't wear a mask!]

Are you good at skating?

Good?

[ He grins a little. He senses an opportunity to show off in the very near future. ]

Yeah, I'd say I'm pretty good.

Now you really need to show me some time. Any specific moves you like doing?

[Well it's been a while since she has done anything fun.]

[ And here's Wally, looking pretty excited. Skating means going fast and that's almost like running, so why the heck not? ]

Hey, we could have that race after all. I mean, I haven't been skating in ages, so I'm probably a bit rusty, but I don't give up too easily. Who knows. Skating's like riding a bike anyway, right? You never really forget how to do it.

Yeah, maybe. I never really stopped once I started so I don't really know. But if you're really up for a race, we should skip the rails.

[ He grins, he figures Wally'd appreciate this next bit. ]

Cause I found this street on a REALLY steep hill. It's a pain in the ass climbing up, but going down...

[ Oh yeah, no way Wally's saying no to this. ]
