1st Transmission [Video]

[brain_behind_purple]

[The screen flickers a bit before static pops up. The static slowly clears until the image of a pair of brown eyes with a purple bandana wrapped around it appears, a few locks of brown hair over the mast. The screen moves in a few directions before beuing oulled back and revealing the full face of the teenage boy holding it.]

Hmm... It looks like I was able to get some kind of video feed working.

[A small bluish-green turtle pops up next to the boy, a yellow ball inside it's plastron and a blue helmet covering the top of it's head.]

Really? That's great Donnie! That means that anyone else with a D-Terminal can see you!

I figured as much Kamemon. Hmm... Now if only I could figure out if this can send a video back to my world. Or at least see if someone can explain to me how the heck I got here and how the heck I got turned into a human.

Why? You don't like being a human? Sooo... What were you before?

[Sighs] As I tried to explain to you before, I was a turtle like you... well sort of anyways. But now I'm human and I ended up being sent into some weird world that is nothing like New York, and I have no way of figuring out how to get home! It's just too confusing!

[The screen shakes a bit due to Donnie freaking out, causing the D-Terminal to shake a bit. It quickly settles back down once Kamemon steadie's Donnie's arms]

Whoa, whoa Donnie, chill! Freaking out is just going to mess you up.. Just take a deep breath Donnie, deep breath.

[The screen shows Donnie taking a huge deep breath before his facial features relax.]

Okay, okay, feeling calm now. Still confused, but calm.

There you go! Sorry guys, Donnie can... over-react sometimes. But don;t worry, he's not a bad guy... usually.

That is true, even in my world where there are alien robots, ninjas trying to kill my brothers and me, and weed monsters, being pulled into a digital world is very strange.

[Sighs] Here we go again...

It's okay, I've explained a few times now. To make it simple, my brothers and I used to be normal turtles until the man who bought us at a pet store got hit with an alien chemical. he became a mutant rat and my brothers and I became more human. Since this would freak everyone else, the giant rat, Master Splinter, took us to the sewer to hide us and he adopted us as his sons.

[Perhaps Kaldur shouldn't be as surprised by the story as he is, given what all he has seen, but nope he's still surprised.]

I see. I can understand that to some degree. For awhile there was unrest in my home by purists who believed that those with visibly aquatic features such as fins or tentacles should be driven out. It cannot be easy being different.

It's not, my brother tried meeting a human twice, and both times it went bad. But we did meet at least one person who accepted us.

Yeah, his girlfriend.

Kamemon, for the millionth time she isn't my girlfriend! [Clears throat to clam himself.] sorry, Kamemon likes to say things that he shouldn't.

[Slight smile, gee where has Kaldur heard such things before. Oh right, he's on a team full of teenagers.]

Yes. Well, I am glad you found one human to accept you. There are more out that, I assure you...they just might be harder to find.

Yeah, and I guess we never get much of a chance to find anyone who would accept us. Hopefully we'll find some other people one day.

That... all sounds kind of normal, actually. Including the digital world part.

Admittedly I haven't dealt with ninjas myself, but I've definitely fought alien robots and weed monsters.

At this point, I think a lot of people who ended up here have fought robots and some kind of monster.

And evil corporate bosses that are small enough to fit into your hand?

Hmm... Not yet, but it won;t surprise me if we do.

[Hiccup offers Donnie a sympathetic smile and a shrug, not really sure what else to say other than that.]

Who knows. Don't worry though Donnie. I'm sure your family is doing fine back home.

[He says that while giving Gomamon a bit of a look, and that gives the Digimon cause to let out a huff.]

Humans are such a pain... well humans and a turtle turned human.

[Heavy sigh] Looks like we both have to endure a lot, huh?

Yeah looks like we got the...extra opinionated Digimon.

Oh lucky us... Maybe they'll learn to keep quiet later on.

Hey, Kamemon, are ya hearin' this? These humans ain't got ANY respect for their partners.

[Gomamon looks back over at the screen with a sneer, just prompting Hiccup to roll his eyes.]

I know, right? I've been trying to tell Donnie how to find his apartment, but he won't listen. It's annoying!

[Sighs] Why do I put up with this?

Probably because you- we- don't have much of a choice.

Why do I even bother with this kid?

Probably because you got forced with him, like I did with this guy.

It will happen. After all, there are billions of people out there. []Pause.] And, given our current situation, apparently even more than that.

Yeah, that is true, SO far the people I've met haven't been too horribly freaked out when I tell them that I was a mutant turtle. That was a huge relief.

I am friends with a boy who has squid-like features, not to mention the various other Atlanteans with fins, scales, and tentacles. It is not so strange to me.
