Act 006
[Apparently Ryan's given up on keeping the D-Terminal away from Mimi (or he's asleep), because she shows up on the screen. She seems slightly less cheerful than usual, although she's wearing a flower crown. Mimi dangles Ryan's Crest of Light in front of the screen.]

Morning. Ryan got this a couple days ago.
[The audio fritzes out, and although Mimi is clearly talking, she can't be heard. Instead, Ryan can be heard saying "Hey, now." Then, the video starts fritzing too. It looks like a girl is overlaid on Mimi's image for a moment. "I know what you can do, Ryan. So why not do it for us?"
Suddenly the video settles. The shot is now entirely focused on a guy, Chad Danforth, wearing a red and white baseball uniform. "Look, if you want to play ball? Then grab a mitt, but I don't dance."
For a moment, the video focuses on the ground, but then it swings back up at Chad's face. "You don't think dancing takes some game?" There's laughter from the surrounding crowd, and then Chad scoffs.
"You got game?" "A little."
There's a brief nod from Chad, and then someone tosses a baseball bat, which Chad catches. Ryan places his hand above Chad's, and Chad places his other hand above Ryan's. This continues until Ryan places his palm across the top of the bat. There's a cheer from the crowd at that, and Chad smirks, pointing toward the camera. Someone hands Ryan a mitt, and he calls for the pitcher, taking the ball and tossing it up.
Then, a musical number starts. In case you don't feel like watching the video, let me sum it up: Ryan and Chad spend three minutes flirting with each other about how if Ryan can play baseball, Chad can dance. After the song, there's a view of the ground. Chad calls out to Ryan, who lost.
"Hey, Evans! I'm not saying I'm gonna dance in the show, but if I did, what would you have me do?"
The screen glitches. "What would you have me do?"
Again. "What would you have me do?"
Static. Mimi pops back up on the screen. She sighs.]
I don't know, what do you think?

video;
I think your partner has a cute singing voice.

[Does she look impressed? SHE MIGHT LOOK IMPRESSED.]
How can Two-legs perform such complicated movements and focus on training at the same time?
[Yes. She thinks baseball is training. Battle training.]
[There's a kind of groggy whazzup from behind Mimi.]
How can you dance and play baseball at the same time?
[A semi-coherent response that could be words, but kind of sounds like mumbling.]
He says it's a musical thing.
Mimi, who are you talking to?
[Mimi looks behind her.] This girl on the D-Terminal. I don't know her name yet. [And now Mimi looks back at the screen.] What's your name?
[Mimi turns the camera so it focuses on Ryan, who has clearly just woken up and looks a little incredulous.]
. . . Are you seriously using the video function now?
[The D-Terminal switches hands.] Okay, here. Oh, and um. Don't be mad, but you had a memory leak.
[About eight emotions all flick across Ryan's face and then he sighs.] It happens. Anyway, hi. I'm sorry this is how we're meeting for the first time.
Are you kidding? That...musical training was amazing!
[OH NO...]
. . . It's not really training. Lemme guess, not originally human?
Cat. You catch on very fast.
Do you know how to go to the Heavyside Lair?
You can understand cat in your home world? I'd never met a Two-leg who could speak it.
Only when they wanted themselves understood.
