themainframe | [Video] First Sweater

[A video suddenly blips into life on the feed, and for a moment or two the only thing that can be seen is a weird, blurry grey mass. A muffled scratching can be heard over the microphone, like something being brushed across it before an even more muffled voice can be heard.]

You're holding it too close!

[The screen moves up sharply and gives everyone a nice, dizzying view of the sky (upside down, by the way) before righting itself, revealing a little girl sitting on a bench with a Digimon in her lap. He huffs and looks up at her, dropping his front legs over the one arm she has wrapped around him.]

I can hold it, I got it this time!

[The girl just shakes her head a little and adjusts her grip on the D-Terminal in her hand before flashing the screen a bright, braces filled grin. She seems to be wearing a bright pink sweater and looks perfectly comfortable in said sweater no matter what the temperature might currently be, with a pink headband, purple skirt, and black shoes to match.]

Dipper! Dipper are you out there? LOOK at what I've got!

[She squeezes Tapirmon a little, who lets out a faint squeak at her added affection. He was hoping his partner would be nice, but he NEVER expected she'd be this enthusiastic about the whole situation. Then again, was she really listening to what he said...?
In a world filled with talking animals, it's a wonder Mabel doesn't think this isn't just all a dream.]

He says his name's Tapirmon, but I was thinking I could give him a nickname, like...Aoshima~ Doesn't that sound adorable?

[Mabel looks down at Tapirmon who flicks his ears in response with a giggle.]

I 'unno, sounds pretty cool to me! Does that mean I get to give you a nickname too, Mabel?

[She ponders that for a moment, swinging her legs over the edge of the bench.]

We'll see! I gotta think of something first. I don't think ANYTHING'S gonna beat out Aoshima though.

[The girl hums, trying to think of something to talk about.]

You said you've been waiting for Donatello to nickname you for months, right? ..How long has he been here, exactly?

Hmm... at this point, around five months. Not counting that incident two weeks ago where he got sent home. He's a total nerd too.

Woah, he got sent home? Why'd that happen?

[Not that she's chomping at the bit to go home or anything, but it would be nice to know for future reference.]

We... haven't quite figured that out yet. But when eh went back, eh had to help hsi brothers stop an alien invasion and a bunch of other stuff. So my guess is that the powers to be sent him home to help his family and brought him back when the crisis was over.

Woooah, that's awesome! So I guess if Dip's isn't here, I'll just be brought back home if he gets himself into trouble..

[Well that's...promising, at least.]

Dips? Who's that? Your sibling or something?

[A door can be heard opening in the background.]

Dips, Dipstick, Dipperdork- his name's Dipper, though! He's my twin brother. We're the Mystery Twins!

Mystery Twins? That some kind of band name or somethin'?

More like a catch phrase, really. Either way I'm surprised he's not here. I mean if I'M a Chosen, it would only make sense for him to be one too, right?

[Aoshima looks back up at Mabel, shrugging.]

Not necessarily. Chosen children require special qualities to be brought here, and I guess you brother just doesn't share those qualities. ..No offense.

Eh, I don;t know if special qualities are neceszary. For example, my parter i an absolute nerd with no social skill and all he ever does is work on hsi toys. How he got picked is a mystery to me.

[Kamemon gulps and turns. A tall, brown-haired teen with a purple mask on can be seen on the screen now, And boy does he look annoyed.]

Were you trying to scare off new people again?

[Mabel tilts her head at the arrival of the boy, absently petting the top of Aoshima's head as she talks.]

Are you Donatello?

[Donnie looks at the D-Terminal when he hears someone speak. WWell looks like Kamemon hadn't scared anyone yet. but he still glares at the turtle.]

I'll deal with you later. [Smiles and turns to the D-Terminal] Yep, I'm Donatello. But you can call me Donnie. Sorry if Kamemon's been bugging you.

Hey, I did nothing wrong for once!

No, it's ok!

[It would take a lot more than that to irritate Mabel ever.]

Nice to meet you, Donnie! Nice mask~

Oh, thanks. [Messes with his mask tails for a sec.]

Yep, perfect mask for a ninja, even if he's bad at it.

Yeah, I... hey! [Glares at the smirking little turtle.]

You're a ninja? ..Really?

[Man first a pegasus and now this?]

[Chuckles nervously and rubs his head sheepishly]

Yep, I'm a ninja. Well I'm more of a scientist, but I'm a ninja too.

Yeah, he's not too terribly bad at it.

[Not that Mabel knows a lot about ninjas, but how often do you get to meet a real live one?]

Yep! I know a lot actually. If you want, I could show you a few sometime.

Spinning a stick around is a ninja move?

One, it's a staff not a stick. And two, it's a lot harder than it looks.

[She giggles, nodding enthusiastically at that.]
