Hey there gang!

So the lights are back on, boy was that fun huh?

[Eye roll]

So with that nasty dark area in the middle of town, I figure people probably wandered into it. Aside from that being both hilarious and horrific, I'm offering my services for people who need someone to talk to.

After all, I am a professional psychologist, and the only one in town.

As for those of you who already have standing appointments, I expect you on time after last week.

[Brushes past him letting herself in casually as if she owns the place]

[well, he'd just follow and take a seat on the edge of his bed, looking more than a little nervous.]

So, er..where should we start?

[And she sits on the windowsill, putting her hair into a single pony tail and plucking some costume glasses out of her pocket to put on her nose and make her look more professional.]

Let's start with who you are. The basics. Likes, dislikes, family life.

Uh...o-okay. My name's Waver Velvet. I'm eighteen years old and I like...academics. Studying magecraft, alchemy, that kind of thing.

[He hesitated, hands fidgeting as he debated how to continue.]

My--my family life was fine. My parents were good people that never mistreated me, there's really not much else to say.

Mmmhmm? Nice to meet you Mister Velvet.

[Even her voice seems to change to a lower more professional tone]

What sort of academics did you enjoy?

Just call me Waver. And I'm a student at the Clock Tower--it's a university in London.

[Beat.]

...A magic one. I...study magic.

[She doesn't even bat an eyelash]

I see. That would be interesting. I never had the chance to study that in school. But I guess some people are just more prone to magic then others. How'd you get involved with that?

[...honestly, he was expecting more of a reaction than that. But hey, he'd roll with it.]

I was born into it, kind of. My family's had a magical bloodline for three generations. Which is...almost pitiful, compared to most.

Is that so? Lots of long lined families where you come from? Like legacy?

Magical society is mostly run by aristocratic families. It's all an archaic, backwards mess--kind of hard to explain in any detail.

[A soft smile]

Sounds like you think a little differently about all that huh? Not one to follow the crowd?

Yeah, I do--everyone's so obsessed with how powerful bloodline makes someone, but my theory is that effort has the potential to produce magi just as powerful as generations of one family geared towards producing skilled heirs.

A sound theory if I ever heard one.

I may not know much about magic, But I know humans. I know if humans want something bad enough? They can make it happen.

Y...you really think so?

[Despite how much of a mental and physical mess he looked like, Waver brightened up almost immediately at that.]

Everyone in the Clock Tower thinks it's completely absurd--obviosuly none of the aristocracy would ever want to listen--but this is the first time anyone's ever agreed with my theories.

Well like I said, I dunno about your world but this world has shown me that humans are pretty alike from one universe to the other.

And you know why humans are so great? Because we can adapt, evolve and change to fit any environment. We're stubborn enough to keep trying when people tell us something is impossible. We're foolish enough to chase our dreams!

And brave enough to dare to love.

So if anyone can shake up the status quo? It'd be someone like you.

I...wow. Not many people have ever talked to me like that before. That's...that's really nice of you.

[Bright smile]

I'm just a great girl like that. What can I say~?

So what sort of magic have you learned? Do you know alotta spells?

I'm an alchemist, mainly. Unfortunately I'm not much more than mediocre in most respects.

[She back to scribbling notes]

In the right hands though I bet alchemy can be a powerful tool hmm?

I guess so. It usually needs some kind of materials or preparation, so it's not all that applicable in a fight.

Lots of fights can be won by the right preparation. Just gotta think ahead!

Now, how have you adjusted to life since coming to this weirdo world? No Alchemy, no school. What do you do with yourself all day?

Well...it's kind of difficult to say. It isn't all that bad, not having to worry about the kind of things that come with being a magus on my level. No one's really looked down on me or things like that--everyone's been nice. It's a little weird.

The whole place is weird, to be sure. But it might not be too awful overall, as far as sudden and extreme circumstances go.

Mmhmm~ I can see where that might be strange.

Do you have friends? A job?

I work at a bookstore. It'd be nice if I could read half of what's there, but I don't speak Japanese very well. Friends, uh...I don't know. I have people I like talking to, and both my roommates are really nice. That counts, doesn't it?
