[Donnie had had a very rough week. The first day of the dark incident, his partner was killed by Fearless, Hiccup's partner. He had spent the next few days hiding in his apartment, only going out on occasion. He also left today for work, but that was it. He wasn't willing to be seen right now, he just wasn't up for it.

Still, he did have people who did need to know that he was mostly okay. Plus he was planning on leaving soon, so he supposed that he should tell everyone. But he felt better using the audio feed.]

Umm... hi guys. Sorry to bother anyone, but I just want to tell my friends that... I'm going to be leaving in about a day or two. I need to Primary Village to fetch my Digiegg. I just wanted to let you know so that anyone who went looking for me wouldn't be worried.

[He almost said 'as if anyone would anyways', but he resisted.]

So ugh... I guess that's it. Thanks guys. I'll hopefully see you when I get back.

[It's quiet on Mikey's end for a few moments, only the sound of Leader calling Mikey's name softly registering. Finally Mikey spoke.]

You're not planning on going without me, are you?

[Donnie wanted to say 'no, of course not' but then he'd be lying.]

Mikey... I'm sorry, but I want you to stay here. I'm planning on going alone.

[There is the sound of a door slamming shut on the other side, Leader yelping, though she is clearly still with the d-terminal. A moment later there was a growl covering up sob, coming from Mikey, proving that the slammed door hadn't shut either of them away from the d-terminal or each other.]

Why?! Why don't you want me with you? I'm your family, aren't I?

[To say he sounded upset was a bit of an understatement.]

[Okay, he hadn't seen that outburst coming. If it were Raph,t hen it would have been, But with Mikey? No]

That's not it! Mikey I do want you to come. Believe me, I do. And of course your family, your my brother for crying out loud. But it's too dangerous. Who knows what is out there, Leader can't Digivolve yet, and... and I can't risk the chance of losing someone else.

[He wasn't sure if Mikey was listening, but he said it anyways]

[Normally Mikey isn't this moody, or easily worked up, but normally he was at home with all of his family and providing the distraction from all of the tension.

He is quiet as Donnie talks, a space of quiet after he is done even, rough breathing with small hiccups in them audible, Mikey trying to fight down the frustrated and upset tears that he couldn't stop.]

S-so instead I have to wait here? Not knowing if you are okay... Even if we can't defeat these digimon we can sure get around anything that tries to get in our way... You don't even have- [Kamemon, he almost said that, but cut it off, knowing it was the wrong thing to say.]

You can't risk losing someone else, but you want me to sit here and be okay not knowing how you are... out of reach if something happens and you could use a brother?

Mikey...

[He was trying to think of what to say, a way to convince Mikey that him staying int he city where it was safe was for the best. That he would make sure to call him every chance that he got and that he would only be gone for 24 hours at most.

But right now, the sound of his brother crying and frustrated were alarming him too much. Sure Mikey had his moments of over-reacting, but this was rare. And he didn't want to leave while his brother was upset and feel horrible if something bad happened to either one of them. Not again.

The feed was cut then. But a mere few minutes later, wherever Mikey was hiding, he would hear a knock.]

[When the feed had cut Mikey had given up trying to hide that he was crying, Leader having squeezed herself between his knees and his chests to nuzzle up against his face, trying to comfort him.

As it was he was in Leatherhead's apartment, having taken over the bathroom to have some privacy to talk to his brother and was still in there, curled up in the tub, the place the most comforting and familiar at the moment.

He jerked when he heard the knock, his expression looking up at the door a very pathetic one with tears all over his face.]

W-what?

[There was no way to hide the sound of him having been crying from his voice now, and he hated that because he felt so weak when he was supposed to be convincing his brother he was strong enough to come along and stick with him.]

[The door slowly opened, revealing Donatello. He merely stared at his crying brother, worry immediatly gripping him. It was rare to see Mikey like this, even when things were at they're worst, he was often optimistic and keeping everyone's spirits raised. But he supposed that not being back home where he was around his loved ones all the time was gettig to him, and it worsened Donnie's guilt. He hadn't been neglecting Mikey... had he?

He walked inside the room slowly before sitting along the edge of the tub. He hated seeing Mikey cry, it only added to the already immense pain that was building inside of the young genius. He figured that the best thing that he could do was allow his brother to let it all out.]

Mikey... I guess I already know, but... do you want to tell me what's wrong?

[He would let Mikey talk, to see if he wanted to let his feelings out or not. Either way, Donnie wasn't planning on leaving his side for even a second. He would never leave his baby brother like this.]

[Even though he should have been expecting it to be Donnie he really hadn't, so when the other opened the door he scrunched himself up a little bit more, looking all the more like a child as opposed to a teen. His shifting caused Leader to make a startled sound and she moved a bit until she was able to settle again, understanding her chosen child needed the physical comfort right now.

He hiccuped slightly as he struggled to try to get himself under control, he didn't eve know why this one thing suddenly had him so angry and sad. When Donnie didn't try to make him stop it helped in some way, to know that he wasn't going to be told to get over it just because he was upset at the moment.

He nodded at the question from Donnie, trying to find the words to express everything that he was feeling.]

W-why don't you trust me? Why won't you let me come with you? Why have you changed? I hate that everything has changed... why do I have to be human? why is it just us here? N-nothing feel right. The only good thing about this place is seeing Leatherhead, and... and even he has changed.

[As he vented all the stuff in his heart hot tears made fresh tracks down his face, his breathing heavy and labored.]

Mikey?

[Even though she knew he was hurting and lot of his words were from that.. Leader felt a little hurt at Mikey's last statement.]

[Donnie merely listened to his brother's words, but that didn't stop the pain within him from growing. Hearing Mikey like this, so upset and broken, sounding the exact opposite of his usual optimistic, eternally happy self, it was horrible. It had been so long since he saw his brother act like this.

He sighed before reaching hand to his face. He grasped and pulled off the purple mask, using it to wipe away his brother's fallen tears. He tossed it aside once the job was done and placed a gentle hand on the younger teen's shoulder.]

I'm sorry Mikey. I'm sorry that you had to be hit with all of this like this. I don't know why it had to be us, or why we had to be human. Even after five months I haven't figured it out. We're here to stop something, that's all I know. I've been here for five months and Leatherhead four, and... a lot happened.

[He looked at his left arm, a long scar running down along it. Yes, a lot had happened. Things that he had yet to tell Mikey, things that sooner or later he would have to reveal. But not now.]

I was alone Mikey. I didn't have you, or Leo, or Raph, or Sensei, or April, or anyone. I had to change as things happened, it's not like I wanted to. I missed you guys so much, I had nightmares about something horrible happening to you guys and... [He shook his head] You dpn't wanna know.

But one thing hasn't changed, I do trust you Mikey. I trust you, Leo, and Raph more than anyone else int he whole world. When I found out that you were hear, I was happy. I finally started to feel less alone. I finally had at least a small apart of my family. And... after all that happened I... I just don't want to lose you. If you went with me and anything happened to you I... I don't know what I would do...

[He turned his head away, taking a hard breath. He almost felt like crying, but he refused. he needed to keep strong, for Mikey's sake. As long as Leo and Raph were gone, Donnie needed to be the big brother, to keep all of his pain in and help his brother. He had to...]

[He didn't pull away from the purple fabric being used to wipe his tears away, even slightly leaning into the touch, finally looking directly up at Donnie after he cast aside the mask and put a hand on his shoulder.

With a quiet that only ever happens in the overactive teen when he's been fairly well emotionally drained, he sits quietly and mostly still and listens to his brother, his eyes misting up again.]

'M sorry Donnie... I have had you and Leatherhead and I... I'm being a whiny little kid.

[The last few words came out sound more like something Raph would say, which only brings more tears to his eyes.]

I just... I want to stay with you... we are strong, we could do it.. together. I... I want to be a part of your team still. Wouldn't we be safer together anyway?

[He knew he was pushing a bit much but he knew that even though he was acting so strong, Donnie wasn't used to doing what Leo did for them all, and he wasn't as okay as he acted. He wanted to make sure that his brother wasn't alone if he reached his limit.]

[Being Leo was hard, and Donnie knew that he wasn't Leo and couldn't do this for long. Sure, he had provided mental support for his brothers and he was used to caring for their needs, but being the emotional support when he himself was a wreck was hard. Really hard.

But what Mikey was saying, he didn't know how to answer. He wanted Mikey to stay in the city where he'd be safe. At least Leatherhead could protect him if he stayed here. But he also didn't want to leave Mikey, he needed his brother. He needed the younger teen to distract him from everything and make him feel better like he did back home. But he'd rather be an emotional wreck than to endanger his brother.

Then again, he knew that Mikey could handle himself despite his childishness. He had already proven that a good while ago. So maybe...]

Okay, hypothetically speaking lets say that I do let you come along. If I do, then you would have to listen to me. If I tell you to keep away from something or to not touch something, you would have to do it. If I give you certain and very specific instructions, you need to follow them. Would you be able to do that Mikey?

[He knew that Mikey could, he did so against the wasp virus. But he wasn't sure if this Mikey was from the same time period as him. He hadn't had a chance to question it yet. So this would have to do for now until he could.]

[Even just hypothetical meant that Donnie was actually considering it, which helped him to calm down a little bit, not that it stopped his tears, the crying needing to come out now that it had started. He listened to the question and though about his answer before giving it, honestly thinking and trying to prove to Donnie how much this mattered to him.]

Yes. I'd listen, and do what I'm told... I know I'm not the best at it all the time... but for a bit... I know I can.

[He wasn't about to say that he was the best at it all the time, but he knew he could do it if he had a reason to do it.]

[Donnie pondered his brother's words. He supposed that Mikey would listen to him in a situation like this. Plus Mikey could protect himself and he had Leader with him. So...]

Well... okay, I give up. You can come Mikey. But you need to do exactly as I tell you, no getting overly-distracted. Is that clear?

[Mikey nods, but unlike when he is stressing his upset his eyes stay wet and the strained look on his face only relaxes, rather than being replaced by some excited express.]

Yes Donnie, thank you.

[Donnie sighed when he saw little change in his brother's expression. He couldn't take seeing Mikey like this anymore. He stepped into the tub, reaching down and then pulling Mikey into a firm embrace. It wasn't something that he did normally, but Mikey needed it right now. Donnie wanted him to now that he was here for him, that he would be okay.

Despite his own pain, he woukd do whatever it took to rid Mikey of his sadness.]

[If Mikey realized how much it weighed on his brother at this moment he would have forced a smile. Instead he held onto Donnie in the embrace and just held there for a moment, quiet and still, taking in the moment.

After a little bit he realized where they were and couldn't stop a lazy laugh.]

Think we should get out of their bathtub?

[Okay, laughing was a good sign that things were improving. So Donnie pulled back and stood up]

Yeah, I guess that might be a pretty good idea.

[He stepped out before offering a helpful hand to the younger teen.]

[Mikey accepted the hand letting himself be helped to get out of the tub and giving it a soft squeeze.]

Sorry... for being a brat there... I bet I sounded like a whiner Raph.

Nah, you had every reason to whine. Besides at least you didn't start kickig and screaming like Raph does

[He laughed there as he squeezed Mikey's hand back, hoping to lighten up the mood,]

Heh, that's true... probably would have hurt myself on the bathtub anyway. Can't go with you if I get myself all hurt.

[He was already feeling much better, showing his normal resilience in bouncing back now that he had been reassured that Donnie wasn't as distant to him as he had feared.]

Okay bro, you think that your'll be okay for the rest of the night? If so, I guess I should head on back.

[He started to head out the bathroom door, getting ready to head back to the Love Crest District.]

Yeah, I'll be okay! Now if I could find water balloons I would be fantastic.

[He made the comment to test the waters, as it were, and see if Donnie could handle some pranking.]

[Yep, he was fine]

Yeah, good luck with that bro. I better head back now, I gotta get things ready for the trip. Later bro, keep out of trouble. [Starts to head for the door]

[Before Donnie leaves Mikey gives him a sudden hug from behind.]
