If you and your boyfriend are still getting to know each other, something nice and simple is always good: I'd say sweets or maybe a melon? Ah, or something you made yourself if you can bake.
If it's something more serious, say... longterm, something that will last is better.

Well, everyone is different, so what they might like is up in the air. But I know back where I'm from it's a big deal for a girl to give a boy she likes chocolate that she made herself.
