[ The broadcast at first starts off as only audio, little cheeps and squeaks and the odd breathy belch in between confused replies of a young male voice with a cultured, vaguely English accent. ]

Ah? No. No no, I'm sorry. I'm afraid I don't really understand what you're asking...

Chirrup! Squee. No no. Peep. Peep-peep-peep.

Oh! Oh this? Push this? Oh, can't the other one tell me? Plea~se, little one?

SCREECH!

*sigh* Haa, yes of course, my dear. Silly me.

[ The video finally turns on, though its upside down and pointing at a chest covered by heavy brocade fabric in rick purple. ]

Like this, then?

Chirp!

[ A small gout of flame puffs in front of the screen which tumbles end over end and clattered to the ground beside a pair of purple suede boots, accompanied by a shrill scream that turns into nervous laughter, then flapping and a hiccuping, sobbing sound. ]

Oh! Nooo, no no no little one. No, I'm sorry, truly I am! You just startled me! Its not every day one encounters an...an infant dragon?

*sniffle* Chirrup?

Yes yes, lets sort this out, shall we? Come here, little one. Oh, be a dear and don't blow anymore fire in my face, won't you?

Peep peep.

[ Another sigh and the D-T rattles softly as its picked up by a purple-gloved hand, rising rapidly - this time right side up - to encompass a handsome you face with a warm smile. Thick brown hair falls in waves around his face and a large gold crown rests on his head. ]

Speak into this then? [ He asks, looking to the side briefly before the flapping comes closer and the screen fills with a tiny dragon. ]

Peep peep!

Brilliant!

Ahem.

Ah, salutations, to anyone out there. My name is Rowan.

Cheep?

Oh, ahhh...this...? [ He reaches up and flicks the crown lightly. ] Its technically King Rowan. That's new, actually. I'm more familiar with Prince though. King sounds a bit stuffy, yeah?

Mm...peep peep.

Oh? That's funny coming from you. No need to be rude.

[ Its not easy to tell if he knows what the diminutive digimon is saying, or merely humoring it. His smile remains warm enough to suggest the latter. ]

This obviously isn't Albion and I wouldn't have the slightest clue where to start looking for it. Ah, the technology is far beyond my understanding and I don't think the shock has quite set in, but I'm used to being "poofed" off to the odd place now and again.

Ah, I was only trying to understand this...device. Its all a bit much, really. Fortunately my little friend knows enough to show me how to get it working. The other one - Culumon? Runs off a bit at the mouth and wasn't precisely dedicated to the instruction. Nothing against the fellow. I blame myself - I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to new gizmos.

[ He clears his throat, cheeks coloring with an apologetic look. ]

Then again I'm being a bit wordy myself. I was wondering if anyone from Albion was here, though I imagine its not terribly likely.

At any rate, ah, I am honored to be here and I do hope we can conquer this darkness...whatever it is.

[ He purses his lips, looking left and right awkwardly before looking at the Petitmon now perched on his shoulder. ]

Is...is that all then? Am I supposed to push something else?

[ Sorry Prince Rowan, he can't understand a thing you're saying, but he can tell something ridiculous is happening so he's just shaking his head with his hand on his forehead. ]

Oh! Oh, look, there's someone! Hello! HELL-O!

[ Because of course speaking louder and slower made all the difference. Tourist. ]

Can he hear me?

Hm. Hello? [ He chimes, smiling happily and waving at the screen. Of course it didn't occur to him another language might be spoken. Squall looked fairly local, after all. ]

[ He notices the waving and can only assume the guy was greeting him. He glanced over to Kudamon with a look. ]

He can hear you but I'm afraid he can't really understand you.

[ Squall makes an annoyed noise ]

Oh! You can talk! That's brilliant. So its just the little one here having difficulty.

Scree!

Oh ho, don't blame me!

[ He sniffs, tilting his head to the side and looking at the screen thoughtfully. ]

I imagine I'll sound very silly asking this but - you're not actually very small people inside of this thing, right? You're like an illusory representation? A magic conjuration?

m... well I guess in a way you could say that? But we're as real as you are so it's not like we just poofed up.

[ Squall gives them both a curious look before he gets out his notebook and seems like he's doing his own thing scribbling around. ]

[ He smiled, arching a brow, lips twitching in an attempt at containing laughter before changing to a mix of curiosity and apology. ]

Are we being a bit rude, actually? The gentleman has been a bit distressed. Frustrated? I can't tell, precisely.

Ah! Does he speak Auroran? I know Auroran. I can stumble through some Samarkand as well.

I'm not sure if he speaks any of that... and don't worry. Squall is just being... well Squall. He's usually like this.

[ Kudamon giggles which causes him to get a sharp look from Squall. ]

Usually what? Socially incapacitated by an inability to communicate? I doubt that. It would seem terribly foolish of this place to be summoning heroes who can't even work together for such a tremendous language barrier.

Could you possibly apologize to him for me? I would be ever so grateful. And perhaps assure him I mean no offense? I truly do not.

Peep cheep cheep.

Of course my dear, wherever you like. This way? Tally ho.

[ He smiles cheerily, walking along and following the little fluttering dragon. ]

I do hope there is food for normal human types around here. I don't imagine I'd like whatever my companion prefers. Probably...raw animal meat of some kind. Or bugs.

[ Kudamon can't help but smile. He seems like a wonderful partner and his Digimon seems to love him too.

Squall clears his throat to get the guy's attention. He holds up his notebook to show an odd attempt at drawing a house. Beside the house is a stick figure with a crown. He points to the picture then to him. Then he adds a question mark to the picture right next to the house.]

[ Looking down at the screen again, Rowan blinks and squints at the picture. He vaguely remembers playing a game with Ben Finn like this, but he hadn't been very good at it then, either. ]

I like that crown there. Funny. I do have a house but it isn't here so--

Grr. Rowr...

Oh! Yes of course. No. I mean mean yes, I--the housing for people that are brought here? I will be heading that way. I have no idea what the arrangements are, however.

[ Well it looks like he could slightly understand. That was progress. He flipped to the next page to doodle some more. ]

Sorry, I think he's being a big stubborn right now. He doesn't want to just rely on me to translate right now.

Well, I can understand that kind of frustration. No one wants to be misunderstood. I don't mind, however. I'm quite patient when I need to be, and very used to dealing with people of temperaments for more, ah, volatile than my own.

[ He nodded, clearing his throat and walking along, reaching out to catch the Petitmon as it started to fall. ]

You shouldn't tax yourself so much. Tell you what, if you want to give me directions, and you think you can do it without setting me aflame, you can blow a little puff of fire in the directions you want me to go while I carry you for a while. Seem fair?

[ He clears his throat, leaning his face away from the glare of the little digimon. He was just lucky he'd stopped before he'd finished saying "small". He was fairly certain he'd been close to getting singed. ]

Its rather like having a younger sister. Shouldn't I try to be a big brother she can look up to?

[ That was the first flicker of a falter in his easy smiles. It came back quickly enough, but it was obvious he had some manner of discontent involving family. ]

At any rate, we need to get along if we're going to succeed at all, right?

That is right. We all should get along with each other and learn to grow and everything. We will help protect the world after all!

[ He seems so happy to see them interacting though. It seems anger seems to be around a lot lately. ]

[ Squall clears his throat again and holds up a slightly odd looking map that he drew from memory. There is a star where people first arrive and then an arrow that leads all the way to the new arrival's apartments. ]

Indeed! Heroes uniting under a common cause! Haha, I am glad you approve of me. I was--ah, what's this now?

[ He holds up the D-T, squinting at the screen and the map drawn before smiling brightly. ]

That's quite clever! So that way in order to find the local boarding house? Wonderful. should I head right over then? [ He asks, looking at the Petitmon on his shoulder...who has apparently passed out, a little snot bubble on her nose as she snores. ]

Ah, yes. It seems I should! Haha.

Oh, certainly not. However it has been a rather long day, even before i came here, and I would like to know where I'm expected to sleep after all of this. Besides, the little one is clearly overdue for her nappy-time.

My heart is running a little quickly, though I am trying to contain my nerves. Its difficult to explain my position here. While I'm used to being suddenly displaced from my normal time and location, I never imaged I'd end up anywhere quite so alien.

Yes we do indeed have running water, although it still has its kinks and our sewers could do with an overhaul. I recently passed an order for sewage reclamation facilities to improve the situation. I do hope it proves fruitful. I'd hate to think I'd made a wasteful decision...

Don't know a lot about history or...sewage treatment, but I dunno, sounds like you did an okay thing. Won't have to worry about that here, at least.

So it seems. There are a lot of things that don't appear necessary concerns here, and yet other things seem significantly more terrible.

Out of curiosity, this great disaster on the horizon - how does anyone know for certain it isn't already too late? I mean if there's know particular date set as a reference how does anyone know this isn't all an elaborate ruse to distract the people that could feasibly do something about the entire thing?

I don't mean to sound fatalistic but I've been in that sort of situation before.

I think if it all happened, we'd see more of it. I dunno, more people would be here. You sure got a cynical mind, though, jeez.

What I mean to say is, what if the damage already done cannot be undone, and we're here more to mitigate damages than really reverse anything? And the creatures causing trouble are more a means of distracting us from our labor than anything else.

That is to say, what sort of security do we have that all of this can in fact be fixed? I will fight for any noble cause, particularly in effort to protect my country. I simply want to truth of it all. The last time I let myself be led around by the nose, I nearly lost everything, you see.

I guess...we don't. But protecting this place is something, at least. And it's more than doing nothing while we try and figure out how to fix things.

Right now takin' care of the Dark Fields -- you heard about those? There's a pamphlet -- might be something, and it might get us closer to some answers.
