[The feed cuts on, showing one scruffy, somewhat scraggly, and slightly worn out Kratt. He's been working on the city every day and tonight, decided to sit around on the network afterwards.]

Hey Hiccup if you're around, maybe after all this is over with we can finally sit down and look at that notebook you've got? So far I've noticed a lot of Digimon are similar to all the creatures I studied back home, and I'd really like to see if that trend continues.

[He rubs his chin in thought- looks like a couple fingers have bandaids around them -and then looks back at the camera with a little gesture.]

And anyone who's had a partner digivolve, I'd like to know what their normal stage is and what they digivolved to? I'm just trying to figure out a couple things for myself regarding the process. [Let's face it, for a biologist like him the whole thing was a little nonsensical, but cool, and he wanted to see if he could figure it out.]

Thanks ahead of time, to anyone who replies! [And he reaches forward to cut the initial feed- wait it looks like that wrist is wrapped up in some kinda brace-?

[Shiki's on the screen now, Crest of Light hanging from her neck.] We got crested during the battle with Titamon. It's the Crest of Light -

[From off camera, Lalamon whines.] More like the Crest of Digilame. Can I digivolve now?

Yeah, yeah. Hold on. [The camera turns to show Lalamon in the middle of a slightly messy room, although the mess is mostly bits of ribbon and thread and yarn all over the floor.] Okay, go.

Lalamon digivolve to - [D-d-d-digivolve. Now there's a . . . well, there's the neck-down of Sunflowmon.] Sunflowmon!

Wait, you're not in frame. [Shiki tilts the camera up to show Sunflowmon's face. It's a sunflower. With a face.] There! . . . If you digivolve to Lilamon, are you gonna crack the ceiling?

It'll be fine. Sunflowmon digivolve to - [D-d-d-digi - the newly digivolved Lilamon hits her head on the ceiling and can be heard falling over.] Ow.

[The camera is shaking slightly, because Shiki's laughing, but it's showing Lilamon sitting on the floor, rubbing at her head.] It's not funny, Shiki!

[Chris cringed in sympathy but there's a little laugh in his voice too.]

Thanks for showing me.

[Drawing in a breath with a little snicker, he starts thinking out loud.] So I've seen Digimon that are only tangentially related to what they digivolve to, and others that follow a clear theme...

[Lilamon is so confused.] Aren't humans like that too? Neku and Shiki don't look anything alike.

That's because he's Neku and I'm Shiki. [Such exasperation there, Shiki. The camera turns toward Shiki.] The little diablo's kind of right, though. It's like how some people don't act anything like they did when they were younger.

Lalamons turn into other things too, I think. Sometimes we're ninjas.

[A shake of his head and hands after a moment. Back to that later.]

Y'know, I hadn't considered that angle at all. It almost makes it sound less like evolution and more like... growing up. [Hmmm.]

[The D-Trminal's propped up on a table, and the picture is of Shiki sitting next to Lilamon. It's worth nothing that Shiki looks tiny in comparison. Lilamon's about twice as big as her.]

Shiki says humans digivolve! It's called puberty.

I did not say that! You asked if humans change and I said we go through puberty and sometimes change. That's not the same thing.

How is that not the same thing?

[Shiki just. Puts her face in her hands.]

[Chris laughs in a friendly sort of way, and smiles brightly.]

Puberty might be the closest thing humans have to digivolving. It's the point when our bodies go from being a child to an adult, though for us, it doesn't happen all at once. Puberty usually takes a few years, the time frame a bit different for boys or girls.

Your digivolving takes years? [Lilamon looks horrified.] That's awful.

For once, I agree with you. [She's a teenage girl, everything about her life is terrible, except she usually doesn't say anything about it.] It's horrible.

Yeahh, it's... one heck of a process, that's for sure.

I'm not sure I'd call it "digivolving" though, only because it does take so long. It's just the aging process, the way humans go from being children to adults.

It would be easier if it was a super mode.

You're just bitter you don't get awesome power-ups like me. I could have been a ninja, you know.

[A slight finger wave and a matching grin.] Ah, but depending on the human, we do get power-ups!

Some can become powerful, even world-leading. Others are athletic superstars, or researchers that flood the world with inventions and new technology. Humans can even be fighters, drawing prizes and protecting their home or country. Then there're those that consider the gaining of a family their "power-up."

So really, it depends on the human.

Shiki's only powers are being digilame and doing arts and crafts. Which is definitely not as cool as digivolving.

Are you ever going to stop calling it arts and crafts? Nevermind, that's a stupid question. Chris is right, though. Our powers are just mor subtle than yours.

Hey, there's a lot to be said for "arts and crafts" anyway. They're rarely as lame as other people might think.

Arts and crafts is about the only thing that stops Shiki from being the digilameest. Because she's good at it.

[SKEPTICAL LOOK.] Who are you and what did you do with my digijerk of a partner?

Digivolving makes you, like. Mature and shit.

[A muffled snicker that only makes it out as a loud, slightly snorted exhale.]

About the same is said for people growing up, too.
