[The feed cuts on, showing one scruffy, somewhat scraggly, and slightly worn out Kratt. He's been working on the city every day and tonight, decided to sit around on the network afterwards.]

Hey Hiccup if you're around, maybe after all this is over with we can finally sit down and look at that notebook you've got? So far I've noticed a lot of Digimon are similar to all the creatures I studied back home, and I'd really like to see if that trend continues.

[He rubs his chin in thought- looks like a couple fingers have bandaids around them -and then looks back at the camera with a little gesture.]

And anyone who's had a partner digivolve, I'd like to know what their normal stage is and what they digivolved to? I'm just trying to figure out a couple things for myself regarding the process. [Let's face it, for a biologist like him the whole thing was a little nonsensical, but cool, and he wanted to see if he could figure it out.]

Thanks ahead of time, to anyone who replies! [And he reaches forward to cut the initial feed- wait it looks like that wrist is wrapped up in some kinda brace-?

[Graciously, she flicks her ears and smiles.]

I'm a cat. My partners only vaguely remind me of anything back home. But I've seen Digimon here that do more. ...Swiftleaf's lower form is cat-like, reflecting my own appearance.

Mind telling me more apart your partners? And anything else you want to talk about.

Swiftleaf is a Veemon. She's...like a lizard, her skin is at least. Really, she looks more like a little Two-leg-- human, with a horn. Such a weird color too, she's blue, like the sky.

Bearmon's stranger. She wears clothes. She has fur, so she's obviously a sort of animal. I've heard of creatures called bears, in nursery stories, but I've never seen them. I imagine that's what she looks like, unless it's some sort of odd joke.

Veemon, huh. Sounds interesting~

Ah yeah, I'm familiar with Bearmon. They kind of resemble bear cubs really, except they walk on two legs. [Pause, snicker.] Plus clothes.

She is! I can call her over later, if you'd like to speak with her.

So many Digimon seem to walk on two legs here... Why is that? Even we are made to walk on two legs... Is it really how the world sees everything?

[beingthecreature]

Sure!

Well... [A light sigh.] I know that where I'm from, things are quite a bit... human-centric. I'm among some others trying to change that, but given that they're a dominant species back home, things are a little weighted in humanity's favor.

As for around here, I'm not really sure why that is. It could be that humans themselves had something to do with the creation of the Digiworld, or it could just be how this particular world seemed to evolve. I'd have to look into it further to really find an answer.

I suppose that would make sense... Two legs are just so unreliable! So much harder to stand in a firm, unshakable stance. Much less effective for fighting and stalking.

[beingthecreature]

Yeah, you've got a point there. Going down on four legs is stable and maneuverable, to say nothing of quickness.

'Course, every creature out there- humans included -have evolved to be the best they can be for the environment they live in. Some get along better with two legs, some with four, some even with none at all. It all depends on the situation.

[notmyprophecy]

[She sighs.] That makes sense...but this creature works much better on four legs. I wish I could have them back.

[beingthecreature]

Yeahh, I know what you mean, in its own way... Not having things you're used to around here is rough, and finding out how to do without them is its own challenge.

So what's life like, as a cat? If you don't mind me askin'. I mean, cats are one of the world's most adaptable animals, and I'd love to hear about it.

[Hollyleaf's ears perk. Oh, why thank you for the compliment.]

Well, what's it like as a human? ...No, I can't really ask that, I sort of know now. What would you like to know?

Ahaha, I've had one ask me that already. [Chris grinned lightly at that, then thought for a moment.]

Well, anything you'd like to tell me, I suppose? I'm gonna guess by those ears that you're Felis catus- the domestic cat, as opposed to a lion or cheetah, though please correct me if I'm wrong. [There are small wildcats, after all.] If that's right though, then your life back home could have literally been almost anything! [Was that an actual giggle? I think it was.]

Cats are in EVERY corner of the world, mousing in alleyways and prowling from the highest elevation to the lowest desert. I can't even begin to imagine a typical cat's life, if only because they're so varied.

Well, I'm not domesticated, for starters. [Hollyleaf puffs up her chest. ...That probably looks a lot different as a human than a cat.] I'm a wild cat. I live...well, lived in a group, ThunderClan. We made our dens in a stone hollow surrounded by cliffs, centered in the middle of a forest. We're one of four groups living by the edge of a lake...

...and I could tell you more... I don't think many of us belong to the same world, so it's not like you humans would come looking for us.

[Her bushy tail flicks.] We don't really like being looked for.

[beingthecreature]

[Chris is certainly listening with full attention.]

You wouldn't have to worry about me even if it turned out we were from the same world. [Highly unlikely, but.] Wild animals need their space, to be able to live their lives free and uninterrupted. Even if I knew where you were... I wouldn't go, nor would anyone else in my crew.

So if you wanna tell me more, hopefully you can have an easier mind of it.

[Hollyleaf...smiles oddly.] Well... Alright, then.

I'll stick to telling you about ThunderClan first. As I said, we hunt in forests, usually squirrels, voles, mice, and a lot of birds. Thrushes, magpies, starlings-- mm, oh, excuse me. [She swallows; seems like just thinking about it's gotten her hungry.]

But we don't hunt and eat our prey right where it lands. We bring it back to the Clan, to the fresh-kill pile, so those who can't hunt like elders and kits and queens can get their pick first. The Clan must take care of it's own, after all, it's in the Warrior Code.

That... is very noble of you. It reminds me some of other groups of animals out there, providing for the rest so the entire society stays strong.

[notmyprophecy]

But of course. It's just...natural. They're our Clanmates, we have to take care of them.

[She pauses, in thought.]

The other groups hunt different things, sometimes. WindClan lives on the moor, and they usually hunt rabbits. They're...smaller, quicker. RiverClan in the wetlands, and they hunt fish, of course. ShadowClan has a lot of the same kind of prey as us, but they live in much thicker trees, and somehow also eat frogs.

[She makes A Face.] ShadowClan is weird. [Hollyleaf be nice.]

That I'm not really surprised to hear either. Even the same animals can have different diets based on where they live, and cats are as opportunistic with hunting as they come.

So, there's other clans around, then. What's the interaction between the groups like?

[notmyprophecy]

We're rivals. We have boarders and rules to not mix Clans. Though, every full moon, we all gather at the island in the middle of the lake, by fallen tree-bridge, for the Gathering. We share the news. New kits, new warriors, new apprentices. Even new leaders or deputies, medicine cats. How the prey's been running. We all have to keep in balance with each other, so everything works right.

[...So naturally they don't all the time. That's something Hollyleaf isn't going to say.]

Y'know, that's a good practice, and something that can help a community- even a secluded, clan-like community -keep the peace and strengthen the overall unity.

I haven't ever heard of animals doing it, though from what you've been describing I'm not surprised that your society has formed that way. [Looking up in thought.] It almost reminds me of human council meetings, the sort where local cities or villages will hold get-togethers for the good of the population.

[notmyprophecy]

Everything we do is for the good of the Clans. [Hollyleaf dips her head.] All of them must be working well for everything to function right, and if they aren't, or if we're arguing during the Gathering, StarClan puts a stop to it right away.

...You're going to ask, "what's StarClan," aren't you?

[beingthecreature]

Maybe, but from the sound of it StarClan are the peacekeepers?

[notmyprophecy]

StarClan is where our warrior ancestors go after they die, to watch over us from the skies. They cover the moon when Clans argue, and they communicate with us through signs and omens interpreted by medicine cats.

[Okay, so it wasn't quite what he'd been thinking, but.]

I can't say as I've ever heard of anything quite like that. [Certainly not from animals, at least.] That's amazing.

[Hollyleaf dips her head; she's trying to appear modest, but she can't hold back the pride in her smile.]

Yes, it really is. StarClan guides our every day lives, lights our paths, and keeps us hopeful. [She sighs.] Their presence in the skies keeps us from feeling fear.
