[when the screen turns on it shakes a little, like the D-Terminal was jostled. The video shows Jinora walking over to and sitting on the edge of her bed, a pad of paper and a pencil in hand. Her partner sits on the floor next to her.  Neither appears to realize that the video feed is on.]

-about "Gawa"?  She was on the council at the Western Air Temple; Dad says she was noted for always being able to find joy in things.

Sounds like a possibility.

Okay, we'll keep that one on the list. [she circles the name] Hariti?  She was very devoted to caring for Air Nomad children.

[Leormon shakes her head vigorously]

[giggling] Strike that one, then. [she strikes a line through the name]

We don't have any gods, but the Nomads have always been very spiritual and tried to keep in harmony with nature. And we've always had much respect for the Avatar.

Sorry to make you have to walk through your canon but Jinx is fascinated.

You've mentioned that term before. What is the Avatar?

Well, the Avatar was created ten thousand years ago when a human named Wan merged with Raava the Light Spirit in order to defeat and imprison Vaatu, the Spirit of Darkness so that he wouldn't plunge the world into Darkness during the Harmonic Convergence. Since that time the Avatar, whoever he or she is, has been the bridge between the physical world and the spirit world. It's up to the Avatar to maintain balance between the four nations and between humans and spirits. That's why the Avatar is the only person in the world who can bend all four of the elements instead of just one.

I do so love the culture and history of new worlds. It's one of my favorite parts of this little adventure we're on.

So you guys only have four elements people can control?

Mm-hmm. [Jinora nods.] Air, water, earth and fire. There are some subsets; experienced earthbenders can bend metal, firebenders can manipulate lightning, and some waterbenders can bloodbend.

That sounds almost blessedly simple.

In my world there are people with such painfully vague powers you never know what they might come up with. Like a boy who can transform into any animal he thinks of, a girl with telekinesis, telaportation, healing magic, and the ability to read and devour emotions...or me. I manipulate probability.

So...you can change the outcome of events?

I can. Not after they've happened but before or during.

For example if you were playing a game of chance I could determine if you win or lose.

But if I creative I can cause metal to rust and break, or tidal waves to rise up from the ocean.

It's all about swinging the odds one way or another.

Of course growing up it was mostly bad luck. But I learned how to channel it away from myself so that others would take the hit.

So...you made bad things happen to others.

I've always had a bit of a wicked streak.

But better them then me. Until I learned to control my powers it was like I was cursed. But someone saw the power and potential I had and helped me to control it.

What do you do with your powers now? Or, before you came here since our abilities got taken away.

Ah well...before I came here...

...I suppose you could call it a journey to find myself. I was feeling pretty glum because despite my best efforts everything I was trying to do simply fell apart. And a woman I had idolized for years turned out to be selfish and rotten.

So I was just trying to get away from everything and sort out my feelings. Then this digital world thing happened and I REALLY got away from it all.
