22 Butterflies | Video (Possible Action)

[Sprout's face appears onscreen when the feed comes on, looking a bit confused.]

So uh...anyone else having this problem?

[The camera shifts to show Choco trying to calm down a rather frazzled Fluttershy...or at least one could assume it's Fluttershy. The yellow feathered wings are familiar, sure enough, but despite the human clothes, she clearly was not human at the moment. Her flowing tail, the same color as her hair, flicked anxiously as she paced on four hooves instead of two feet. She seemed to mutter an "Oh no..." with each turn, passing by Choco over and over as he tried to talk to her.]

C'mon, Fluttershy...it's nothing to worry about...

[The camera turns back to Sprout.] ...Little help?

((OOC: Can stay video, or can move to action. Most likely she'll be either in her apartment, or on the hospital roof.))

Yeah, but you did all right, didn't you Fluttershy? You even beat a cockatrice for those kids!

[She laughed softly.] W-Well I...I-I wouldn't say beat it...I-It...I-It was nothing...

A cockatrice??

Okay, now I've GOT to hear this story.

O-Oh...um...o-okay...

S-See...my friend Rarity - a unicorn - and my friend Applejack - an Earth pony - both have sisters; Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom. Along with another friend of their's, Scootaloo, a pegasus, they call themselves the Cutie Mark Crusaders. See, the three of them haven't...gotten their cutie marks yet, and so they spend a lot of time trying to find ways to earn them. They...haven't quite succeeded yet.

One day, they were supposed to have a slumber party at Rarity's...but something happened that forced Rarity to work overtime, and she couldn't watch the girls so she was going to cancel their slumber party. I couldn't see the girls looking so disappointed, so I...I offered to let them spend the night at my house.

[She shook her head a little.] I never should have...I made the mistake of thinking I could handle children as well as I could animals, and I was so wrong...I had no control over the girls, and they caused such a ruckus. There even was an incident with my chickens getting out of the coop. I got most of them back in, but then one of the chickens, Elizabeak, got out again and went in to the Everfree forest - the forest on the outskirts of town that are filled with some of the more mysterious and dangerous animals.

Including the cockatrice...

[Chris leaned back on his hands (weighted just the slightest bit away from the previously injured one) as he listened, smiling.

It was certainly an exciting story, one he wouldn't really have expected out of the shy little pony. Suffice to say, he was hooked.]

The girls were the first ones to discover that Elizabeak was missing, and had gone into the Everfree forest to look for her, even though I had sent them to bed. When I found out they were gone, I...I went into the forest after them...

Even though she's scared of going into the Everfree Forest. [Sounds like someone's heard this story before.]

W-Well...yes...But I was responsible for the girls, and I had to make sure they were okay...

That was very responsible of you, Fluttershy. And pretty brave. [He doesn't say it, but he's impressed.]

[She smiled a little.] I had offered to take care of them...so I had to make sure they were safe.

...Which wasn't easy, considering how dangerous the Everfree Forest is. When I went in looking for them, I found that a cockatrice had already turned Twilight to stone.

And they wouldn't listen when I tried to get them to leave the forest...They thought the way a cockatrice looked sounded silly. Unfortunately, it wasn't so silly when the cockatrice found us...

Oh no. [He sat forward a little, looking at her with slightly wider eyes.] What happened then?

Well, since cockatrice turn their victims to stone by staring into their eyes, I had the girls stand behind me.

Then I...out-stared the...cockatrice...

You out-stared it?

Th...Th-That's what the girls told me. At the time, I hadn't even realized it...I was just...upset that the cockatrice had been threatening the girls, and I was so angry...And so I started chastising it.

And I guess...while I was, the cockatrice was starting to turn me to stone...But I was giving it The STARE, and...eventually it got intimidate and...whatever part of me was stone just...went back to normal...

A-At least...according to the girls...I hadn't realized that was even going on.

[He was silent for a moment, and then he grinned broadly.]

Fluttershy, that's incredible! To have had the power in you to take care of a cockatrice like that, and to have saved the girls?

See, I told you you were special.

[What's that, is that Martin's voice calling over from the D-Terminal?]

Hah, definitely special!

[Yep, it is.

He's been listening to the stories with interest, although how he managed to keep quiet this long is impressive.]

H'I've gotta know though, what's "The Staaaare"?

[It had sounded capitalized to him. Also as if it needed it's own motif. ...Preferably with dramatic lighting.]

[Fluttershy squeaks a little at the sudden voice, at least until she sees Sprout holding up her D-Terminal. The Floramon then hands it to her, and she somehow manages to hold it between her hooves.]

Th...Th-Thanks...

O-Oh...The...The Stare is just...something I use sometimes to control...unruly animals...and only when...absolutely necessary.

It's scary and not fun.

[Judging by the pouting, it seems Choco may have been hit with it more than once.]

[Chris jumped in kind at the sudden voice, then blinked and glanced off at the D-Terminal.]

How long have you been listening in??

[Suddenly this became very important.]

[He grins up at her from the video.]

You're welcome.

[He inclines his head as if trying to see Chris somewhere off-screen, smiling awfully unconcerned.]

Hah, not very long, Bro, don't worry.

[He looks back at Fluttershy with a bright smile.]

H'by the way, Fluttershy, Chris is right, you're one pretty pegasus.

[He glances up aside again thoughtfully.]

Aha'although I am kinda curious about what this Stare of yours looks like...

[Sorta sounds like it would come in handy too.]

[More blushing.] Th-Thanks...

O-Oh, I...I couldn't tell you. I only do it if I really have to...when animals are misbehaving.

[Choco and Sprout are both pouting in the background.]

[He smiles cheerily at her, completely ignoring or oblivious to whatever reaction his comment caused his brother.]

[He chuckles, relenting just a little and giving a nod.]

Aaah'I've got ya. H'I guess you don't want to overuse something like that.

[With great power comes great responsibility and all that.]

Mm...It's not...good when I use it for the wrong reasons...

[And she can't help running her tongue over her teeth after that. She had to learn that lesson the hard way.]

[Chris glanced up at the motion, blinking twice as he tilted his head slightly.]

Uh, Fluttershy...?

[Did he just see what he thought he saw?]

[She blinked at him at first, then realizing what he might have seen, she opened her mouth a little, revealing - yes, fangs.]

Wh-When I had disappeared before...it was because I had been sent home for a while. And when I was there, there was a bit of an...accident with some...vampire fruit bats...

Hah, vampire fruit bats?

[He's both amused and intrigued. After all, back home they've got vampire bats, and they've got fruit bats, but not vampire fruit bats.]
