[Maybe it's a good thing there's so little new Chosen this round. Or maybe a bad thing? If there were more, they would have probably helped calm her down...
...In any case, the whole D-Terminal thing is a bit too elaborate to be a scam, and the beast she may have kicked around a fair bit doesn't seem to be a mindless monster. Anyway, the little red... thing is lying dizzy on the floor right now. Eh, it's not permanent. She's got more matters to worry about than a creature who might just be pretending.
Scrolling through the D-Terminal a bit (after tedious attempts, she's not good at mechanics okay_, she's somehow figured out how to broadcast a message. Smart network idea. Her face is a bit too close to the screen, but it's still pretty clear she's angry.]
My name is Edea Lee. [Fuck beating the bush, she's gonna set it on fire.] If anyone knows about the whereabouts of my friends, please inform me immediately. Their names are Tiz Arrior, Agnés Oblige and Ringabel.
If you're trapping us here, father, you still... [...dammit this thing is live isn't it she should've planned beforehand...] ...underestimate us. [Yeah, smooth. Totally intimidating.
Moving on though. Cue the device flashing around wildly before she figures out how to show her fainted Guilmon to the network.] And what exactly is this thing? I get that it's a Digimon, but what is it?
[give this girl a fucking literature degree]

They eat data, apparently. It's quite a difficult concept to grasp - but everything here is data. Even us. Data is... [Oh, this concept's really difficult. Especially for people of their world.] ...everything. If you are harmed here, you.. repair yourself. A scuffle a few weeks ago had my shoulder quite broken. I'd worried if it'd stay that way, but my body repaired itself in time. ...Almost like Eternia's-
[No. best not. He knows that even at this point of time, she'd know what the white magic chambers are, given her mother's condition and all. But... no. Certainly not.]
... Perhaps because we're data, we're fakes - copies of ourselves and back on Luxendarc our "real" selves are somewhere merely sleeping. It would certainly explain why our Asterisks don't work if they're just copies. But I can assure you, the pain of getting hurt is quite real. Maybe we're not fakes, after all.
[And her question!]
There is something, actually. I noted the tower itself is trashed. The interiors are quite a mess. You've a good eye for what looks good, so I'm sure your help in helping put the place back together would be appreciated.
[A wry smile.]
...And correcting what it looked like beforehand wouldn't be unwarranted, either. It certainly needs a woman's touch!
[And a floramon comes over, cheerfully asking for the order. Ringabel, despite saying he was hungry earlier, merely settles for something simple, and black coffee. ]
...Regarding our matter... You might find reading Dim's journal to help. There's... quite a bit in there which should perhaps explain matters.
[Of course, some of it's identical to his own. The other parts still make him want to punch the guy's head in of course, dead or not.]
no subject
What's data? [Of course, Ringabel... kind of answers it. Uh. Yeah. Edea doesn't fucking miss that, by the way, she knows what you mean. The comparison settles more comfortably with her than expected, perhaps because Ringabel decided to retract on it.] So, what you're saying is... we're conscious projections of ourselves... into a world of data? [She knows what they are. Swordmaster Kamiizumi mentioned there were many, many techniques when it came to battle- apparently, some people wielded the ability of out-of-body-experiences, where their conscious can split and view things their physical form can't.
...Well... this could be something like that. God, she doesn't know.] Well, okay then. I'll see what I can do. [She does have good aesthetic eyesight! Ringabel's wallet during their Florem stay can testify.
...The issue regarding Alternis Dim's journal does make the mood drop, though.] His journal...
...Alright, Ringabel. You need to tell me exactly- what happens in the future? If I'm supposed to believe that your words are the absolute truth, since I have no memory of that.
no subject
...Believing we're conscious projections may very well make all of this go by more easily. I've no idea, frankly. But I'll believe whatever I can in order to make this less trying than it has to be. There's nothing implicitly stating we're not, after all. It may very well be the case.
[And there's a small exhale.]
I've no reason to lie to you - not about anything. I remember exactly what you said last happened, the vampire- Lord DeRosso- got us. Alternis Dim carried you to your room to await the Templar... and we were slung into the dungeons. Presumably to rot, who knows. But that was not the case - you used a passage in your room and saved the day by rescuing us.
Of note is the fact the sage Yulyana appears to be a member of the Council of Six. I don't know why... nor why, after revealing that, he helped us escape. Regardless, we all went forward to confront the Templar. We defeated him, but Edea - know this. He lived. If some part of you worried for him - [No. Best not. It's not his place.]
....He is alive. Trust me on this. We overpowered him, but we did not kill him. We awakened the Earth Crystal after defeating the thing which came from it. Airy's broach lit up entirely... then we took the Grandship to where an enormous pillar of light formed, beyond the sea of the Corsairs. Then... Airy started meditating, in order to gather the light and spread it across the world, in order to close the chasm and destroy all of the darkness. We thought we'd finally done it - but Zatz and Datz alerted us to Alternis Dim landing on deck. He'd been waiting for us the entire time - the fact I didn't see his airship...
[Ugh. There's a small hairflip. He's... actually pretty disgusted at himself for that one, even though there's no way he could have known what was inside the pillar. It was too bright.]
...Regardless, he intended to kill us. You as well, eventually.
[No. He's not going to explain about the marriage proposal.]
We had to defeat him. He was bloodied, and gravely injured, but you stayed your blade. Then his helmet fell off. He looked at me, and questioned why. Then the pillar exploded - he fell off the edge of Grandship. We all tried to grab his hand, but the shock was too violent - the distance too great. We were too far away from him, for obvious reasons. He's quite deadly when he's in that condition.
[Extremely disconcerting. He might actually be fidgeting, slightly. What can be said. Even for him, seeing his own face on that man is beyond disarming.]
...You would know if he had a brother of some sorts, wouldn't you? We're identical, Edea - and it's the only explanation for any of it... albeit the "evil twin" thing being a very tired old cliche.
[A small exhale. He's going to stay quite quiet about parts of their journals being identical though. There's just no explaining that.]
...After that, I woke here. With Escha.
[Who is woefully silent, and looking to the ground in disgust.]
no subject
Her head is propped up and Edea is not keen to look at anything but the wall right now. At least... her father isn't dead. She could... if there was a way to go back, then, she could easily change the order of events. The only positive thing was how they did awake the Earth Crystal, and she could break them out.]
...There's no way of telling if he did. He was a child from the streets. My father took him in. [Aka, 'there could be, but the chance is low'.] He liked to make sure we all knew that. Along with recounts we all didn't want to hear...
[As Ringabel lands on his last word, her eyes shift to the Digimon temporarily. There's- she can't read the expression on her face well enough, before her Guilmon sneaks down and tries to take a closer look at Escha's face.] But, if you look exactly like him, Ringabel...
...Are you sure you don't remember anything about your past? [Her tone is a mite bit dangerous here.] Exactly who or what are you, Ringabel...?
no subject
[There's a hint of disdain in that. Textbook orphan story. Nothing new there, and a dismissive wave of his hand shows the fact he's... rather biased against the dark knight.]
...
Do order something, Edea. You're the one acting like a clone!
["Clone" is a new word to him. It's only after speaking to Aiden that he understands what that actually is. He's... just going to take a small sip of his coffee, crossing one leg over the other and leaning back in his chair. Something copied from an original subject - existing independently. It'd certainly explain the memory loss, if what he's forgot never actually happened, but...
No. There was definately something there to lose. He knows it. As unlikely as the Long Lost Twin Brother thing actually is, it's viable. Technology that just simply doesn't exist in their world isn't.]
You said the same thing upon the deck of Grandship when you saw. "Exactly who or what are you", indeed. Well. I've no idea - the past is, to me, still as blank as blank can be. And I'm afraid it's showing absolutely no sign of improvement.
[Aside from the number five. But he's going to stay quite quiet about that one. But his eyes are quite serious as he looks to her]
Why would I lie about not recalling anything? Brazenly lying about anything like that isn't my style, and likely would have saved myself a lot of scrapes and scratches down the way, I'll have you know.
[The coffee... is disgusting. Watery. Not bitter, not at all. So he merely sighs, moving it across the table to Edea. Hers, if she wants. Escha blinks shortly, turning her head to Guilmon, her voice coming out in a low whisper.]
Wh-what do you want?
no subject
[But in any case, Edea has basically lost all her appetite. She's not sure how to approach Ringabel describing Alternis like that- as... flowery as he is, he is still her childhood friend. Or at least, was. Because he's. Dead. Not yet, as Edea is concerned, though- and hopefully won't be.] Actually, if it's important, I'll make him tell me himself.
I'm sure that if I go back to our world with this knowledge, such a mishap won't occur again. [There's a bit of hesitation with that. As if she's trying to convince herself.] And what even is a clone?
[As for the whole 'lying' thing. Well. Uh.
...This is all second-hand from Ringabel's mouth, after all. And the way it's all said- how she can see it happening, yet can't quite imagine- she's traveled the whole of Luxendarc with those three for the greater good of the people, right? There's no way she can up and say right now that she can't trust him entirely.
Because she wants to. But it's all so out of place. Everything is out of place. It's a mess. As much as she knows it's not possible now- she likes her surroundings to be in control. Or at least, to have some possible opening for impact by her. Guilmon, though, is in a different predicament of his own.]
You look sad... are you okay? [Because angry = sad, isn't he right???]
Well, what do you recommend I order? [Best attempt to topic shift temporarily ever]
no subject
[Some part of him hates the fact he's even giving this advice. But it's for two reasons. Primarily, Edea. She seems devastated, it hasn't passed him by, and even that man's death hurting her makes him want to punch him. Secondarily... she turned down his proposal.
Regardless, ...he's jealous. Very much so, actually - and there's only one way around it. A terrible joke, and inciting her ire.]
Ah, to be the man with the key to your room... A charming reverie, if I do say so myself.
[Yes, he's expecting her to explode. But if it stops her feeling sad, even just for the short amount of time it takes for her to yell at him, it's worth it.]
A clone... is hardly important. It's a concept put to me while I've been here. An identical copy of a person, without their memories. Nonsense on our world. Some digimon are clones too, apparently. They call them SCOPE digimon. Or so I've heard.
[And! What would he hate, simply by the amount of sugar... yes, of course.]
I noticed a few millefeuilles in the window as we entered. Most likely they'll do multiple varieties. As I said, I don't intend for you to pay a thing. Guilmon, too.
[And! speaking of the digimon, Escha's just going to hang her head again.]
Everything they're talking about is wrong. I don't know what you know about your chosen, but you see it too, right? Please say you see it. I thought... I thought that her actually turning up would mean the witch hasn't got a hold on her any more, that she'd know what she did to him while she was under the witches' control, and that she'd be sorry. But it's not that way at all, she's still believing these stupid lies, just like him.
["Witch" of course being the wind vestal. Or at the very least, Escha's perception of Agnès.]

...ringabel
not cool]
And what is that supposed to mean?! [You know exactly what 'that' is, Ringabel. He does succeed in his intention, but mostly in a way that would probably make him more jealous, because I don't care if it was Artemia or Einheria or Victoria or Dim you don't crack a joke like that over a chat about the deceased- but kind of slumps back on her stool, because there's just too much information processing in her head to allow enough energy for her to yell any more.]
...Millefeuilles it is, then. [She has half the mind to drain all of his wallet once again just for that joke Ringabel :| Though...] What about you, Guilmon?
[...Guilmon, still currently unnamed, isn't exactly paying attention to Edea. His voice drops to the same whisper as Escha, because that does not sound good.]
I'm sorry! I don't know about my Chosen... but they're under the control of a witch...? That's... bad, how do we stop her? Um-
Guilmon?
[SQUEAK and he slams his head against the coffee table jumping in shock. GUILMON...]

Well, he's still angered by the contents of Dim's journal. Speaking of which! He moves a hand to the inside of his jacket, pulling out the book. A small check by flipping through the pages to see it's the correct one (because even the scuffs and scrapes on it are identical to the other, it's an easy mistake to make) and...!]
Some reading material for you. Naturally, I compared the notes between the two books of D... so I've no further use for it. Take as long as you like - it appears he was watching us for a very long time. ...It might not mean much to you, Edea, but I truly hope it helps.
Mine doesn't know... or says he doesn't know what really happened. Yours-
[Well. What Edea's actually said is true. Minus Ringabel's presence. And the fact she hasn't mentioned katana!shoving him off a ledge into magma is... worrying.
Despite her worry, Escha instantly buttons it when Guilmon brings attention to himself in such a ....loud way, padding off, out of the establishment. Guilmon can follow if he likes, but Ringabel sees his opportunity after she's left.
Normally, he wouldn't burden her. But it does concern her, quite a deal.]
Ah, something else. I'm under the impression Escha harbors a some resentment toward you, Tiz, and Agnès. Since the entire reason they're here is to save their world with us - I assumed initially that she was a little concerned about me leaving in order to go back to our world. Regardless of this places' troubles, I would in a heartbeat. However, it appears that's not the case. It's something else - and I intend to find out.

...The two books... [She does take it, anyway. She has flipped through Ringabel's journal before, but never really studied it, apart from looking at the events that may be pretty useful to remember.] I- oh, Guilmon...!
[ARGH FUCK. The Digimon shrinks and scampers out the shop with Escha, just leaving Edea blinking.] Harbors some resentment...? Well, I'd be lying if I say that doesn't sound familiar. It even looks like Guilmon is already in cahoots. Why Agnés and Tiz as well, though...?
[That traitor! Just like his partner. Welp. Even jealousy might not be a good explanation for this- if what Ringabel says is true...] I've only been here a while, but I don't believe Guilmon means me harm- even though I did hurt him quite badly when we first met. [Still feeling a bit angry at her about it, tbh.]
...Do you think there's a misunderstanding going on? Enough that even Guilmon already needs to be involved. You haven't sparked off any unsavory gossip, have you, Ringabel?
[As for Guilmon, he's literally tripping headfirst to catch up.] I'm sorry! I'm sorry! What- what did mine do? I need to know...
