This is how you work it--

[ The feed starts rolling to show a large pair of crimson eyes. The scene shifts with a small "h-hey!" as the D-Terminal is shoved into the hands of a man with light blond hair. He looks from his partner to the device and sighs. ]

I'm crazy.

[ He's gone insane. That's the only rational explanation for all of this. Conrad Verner has finally, truly gone insane. ]

You're not crazy! Now, come on, introduce yourself!

[ While he really, really doesn't want to, the man takes a deep breath and exhales slowly. ]

Right. Okay. [ He looks at the D-Terminal with a solemn expression. He wanted his omni-tool back. ] Uhm. Hello. Everyone? My name is Conrad Verner. I, uh... I'm from the Citadel and I'm very, very confused right now.

See? Was that so hard? Now give me that! [ There's another protest from Conrad but now Veemon is center stage and smiling into the camera. ]

And I'm Veemon! You can call me Veemon! It's nice to meet you all!

[What luck for Monodramon, he's watching the feed when this broadcasts, and he knows that word! The Citadel is one of Shepard's buzz words, she told him to get her if he ever hears them!]

[He turns on the feed and grins excitedly at Conrad and Veemon.]

Hey there! Hold on a second while I get the Commander! Oh, I am getting so many points for this!

COMMANDER, SOMEBODY FROM HOME'S ON THE LINE!!

[There's the sound of footsteps and muffled swearing before lo and behold, Commander Jane goddamn Shepard in a loose-fitting t-shirt and jeans, armed only with a bowl of microwaved mac and cheese she apparently didn't think to put down in her rush to get to the d-terminal.]

[And you can see the excitement turn to disbelief.]

Conrad?!

[Oh, for the love of--]

[This is happening. This is actually happening. Of all the people.]

[Okay, okay. Conrad's slightly crazy, but he is from home, and he's also just as lost and confused as anyone else. Let's do this.]

Hello, Conrad.

[Monodramon looks at his partner, clearly confused. She puts a hand on his nose in what has become their code for 'Monodramon, shut up'.]

I'd get used to the dragon, if I was you. You'll need him.

If you've got guns [She really hopes he doesn't have guns.] they don't work anymore. Neither do biotics. The dragon, though? He's got firepower.

[Monodramon peers back into the camera and Shepard pats him briefly on the head.]

The ca-- Monodramon here can catch himself on fire, when he's a little bigger.

[Monodramon looks a little bit put out when she skips on the nickname, but he cheers right back up when he realizes she's praising him.]

[ ... The Citadel? That sounds vaguely like it could be the Watchtower in the future, if the Commander is right in her assumption that her present is Wally's future. He's still not too convinced about that, but... ]

The Citadel? Is that what the League is calling the Watchtower in the future? Or, well, actually, not the League, I guess, since they don't exist anymore...

Oh. Well, it's not as cool-sounding as The Watchtower, but I guess it's alright as far as naming things goes. It could be worse, like... I dunno, Satellite 5 or something.

Cool, nice to meet you, Conrad. I see you know the Commander?

[ He only briefly saw their conversation, but yes. ]

Oh, really? That's pretty cool! Did you know her when she was, like, my age? Cuz I'm trying to imagine it and I dunno, it's hard to picture a teen Commander. I bet she was still badass, though.

[ blink blink ]

... What's a Spectre?
betrayalcutsdeep: (Of course of course.)

*Suddenly blue dragon face!*

Hey Jin, Jin look! It's another Veemon!

*Jin grabs the D-Terminal away from his own Veemon with a pat on the head.*

Yes, I can see that.

*And then to Conrad.*

You're not seeing things. Before I explain, did you read the letter?
betrayalcutsdeep: (Of course of course.)

[personal profile] betrayalcutsdeep 2013-05-15 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
*And there's Jin's Veemon scrambling up onto his shoulders so he can see and waving back.*

I realize it sounds somewhat...farfetched, but it's true. This is a world separate from either of ours, evidently comprised of data rather than matter. The digimon are its natives and seem to be able to form a symbiotic relationship with humans that allows them to become more powerful and helps to ensure our safety here.
betrayalcutsdeep: (Just leave it to me.)

[personal profile] betrayalcutsdeep 2013-05-15 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, there's been some questioning. But the digimon have proven themselves to be loyal allies and seem earnest in their hope for our assistance. There are also some humans here who have been through similar situations before.
