Perhaps this is the beginning of the digital world aligning us with what we should truly be. Of course, it is entirely possible that it's just another glitch, but what is that old saying? Prepare for the worst, hope for the best? I'm sure the concept of being restored to the way we were before coming here is one that many of us find worth hoping for.
And for any digimon who feel that they may become unneeded in such an event...consider how we Chosen feel. Our purpose seems to be nothing more than to serve as batteries and, at best, tactical advisers. Isn't it natural to be asked for our help only to find out that we ourselves are helpless? But regaining our abilities wouldn't necessarily mean a reversal of those roles. Quite the contrary, such an event could make the term partners seem less token, almost laughable. We could carry the weight equally, act as true teammates rather than support that needs to be protected. Perhaps not all of us, but enough to make a difference in our mission, I'm certain.
*Half of that is lying through his teeth, but the pained expression of someone who has lost much is genuine. But despite that, Veemon looks confused from his seat on the bed behind Jin.*
You seemed pretty on top of things at the time. It was good thinking, having me digivolve to Wisemon so I could stop things from falling on us.
*Before Jin can respond, his other partner, a Dracomon, pipes up.*
Survival tactics are far more difficult to disrupt than charitable impulses. Any worthwhile warrior is able to consider his own safety even when nothing else crosses his mind.
Precisely, Dracomon, thank you. At any rate, a status update and apology aren't the only reasons I've opened the D-Terminal today. In light of the fallout of the attack, I've taken the time to update the file on likely questions new arrivals might have. Since we still seem to be getting new Chosen at the start of every month, feel free to share it with anyone who seems confused.
For the new arrivals, my name is Jin Uzuki. I was among the first of us to arrive here, so feel free to ask me directly if you have any questions I haven't already addressed.
*Attached to the post is a list of questions and answers.*
How many t
imes do we have to go over this
? [His voice keeps warping. Something about data and deaths, technical errors. Nothing particularly worth note or interest. Yet.]As many times as you believe it will take. [Another voice interjects patiently. Gabumon knew from the moment he'd seen his Chosen that the boy would be somewhat difficult, but even so-]
[This was almost to the point of ridiculous.]
I believe we've been over the general outlay of this world several times. The known problems, the current visitors. The underlying issue that is concern for us all. [A pause.] Are you sure you won't reconsider?
There's no
bene
fit to fixing this world. [A bland reply. The speaker clearly isn't interested in what's already been said, voice getting fainter as he moves away from the holder of the D-terminal.] You want my opinion? Let it rot.
Burn it. And if you survive all of that, move
on.[After several moments of silence, the video turns on to reveal Gabumon, eyes focused further afield.] I'm afraid my Chosen has proven to be rather obstinate against... involving himself, so far. If anyone happens to recognize Vanitas, perhaps it would be best to contact me. He could use the motivation of friends from home.
*The video turns on to show a worried looking Jin, but something's not right. The language he's speaking isn't anything that anyone else would recognize, although it seems to have its roots in German, Russian and other north European languages. But if someone is paying attention, they'll be able to catch the name "Joshua" somewhere in that mess of nonsense words.*
I am sure I'm not the only one who finds this heat oppressive. As neither my partner nor myself are particularly fond of such extreme temperatures, we have decided to take it upon ourselves to create an area of reprieve for those who prefer cooler climates.
Jin and I are in the Roaming Park, although I am not quite sure how long I will be able to maintain this snow storm. I suggest anyone who wishes to find a break from the heat come quickly. And bring a coat.
*True to the digimon's word, there is a small but cold snowstorm in the park, with Sorcermon and Jin at the edge of it. Both seem to be in relatively good spirits, although Jin might throw a snowball or two at anyone who gives him a good shot.*
ITS SNOWING!
LADY ROZE! I INSIST YOU COME BACK INSIDE!
SHADDAP!
[ Never had anyone heard her shriek in such young and girlish excitement. ]
I'M FREEZING MY TITS OFF BUT ITS SNOW!
LADY ROZE!
SHADDAP.
Oh my god I'm so excited! I'M SO HAPPY! Yesterday was horrible. TODAY IS MAGICAL! I love the snow. Jesus fucking Christ this is actually really cold... [ She looks off to the side, squinting against the wind, cheeks already ruddy from the wind and ice whipping across pale skin. ]
Oh for goodness sake. LADY ROZE!
Musashi, I will kill you.
[ When she looks back at the terminal her lashes are crusted with snowflakes. ]
I'm gonna go get a cute coat and some tights! Oh, but...okay! I'm gonna hit the cafeteria and rustle up them Damemon!
People.
PEOPLE!
Go outside and play if you love the snow. But I'm coming around door to door with delicious cold-weather treats.
Lemme know if you need any warmin' up. [ She chimes with a grin and brow waggle. ]
I LOVE YOU GUYS!

( She was true to her word... )
I see people are still arriving even in the midst of all this...my condolences to those of you who have arrived in the past few days. I assure you that the city is usually much brighter than this and far less dangerous.
If anyone, new arrival or old, feels in need of protection, please feel free to contact me.
*Wisemon leans forward, putting a hand on Jin's shoulder and pushing him aside slightly to get closer to the screen.*
I would be happy to dispatch any of these corrupted digimon for you. It's perhaps a bit dark to study properly, but I would still be loathe to miss the chance.
*Jin clears his throat and moves slightly away from his partner.*
For those of you who are unfamiliar, Wisemon is a highly levelled digimon and should be able to be of great assistance.
[The screen comes on to Yu looking... rather upset and worried. In the background one can easily hear heart breaking sobs. Not childish crying or whining for attention- more like someone young grieving]
Ah.... excuse me but... is it normal for a digimon's evolution to be... really different in personality then originally?
[He looks back at where his partner is crying off screen]
Raidou... it's not your fault...
I-i never wanna digivolve again!!
...alright, if that's what you want. I won't force you.

[It's late afternoon on the day she arrived. After she rediscovered her partner, they found themselves on a random rooftop. She rubs her left side where she received a headbutt from her Elecmon. Said Digimon is sitting right next to her and huffed.]
Well you did disappeared on me without warning. I think it's only fair I get one crack shot at you.
Okay, okay, you got a point there. I missed you too. Remind me we should work on your nickname later since we didn't have a chance last time.
[Saori rolls her eyes and then realizes the d-terminal's on.]
Oh, um, sorry about that! I'm not sure if people would remember me but I'm Saori Nakagawa and this is Elecmon. Apparently, I disappeared a while ago but I guess I was called back. It's nice to meet all of you either again or the first time.
We're back. [ With a lazy wave of her hand. ] Even though I still think he should have stayed on File Island with his newest fan club.
There are things that we are going to have to discuss with all of you in the coming days, [ For those of you who are more perceptive, her jaw clenches, her gaze finding something off screen. ] but for now, hero boy is sleeping, and I need someone to update me on what's been going on here.
