[There's an awkward pause before Shepard responds.]

Neku... How exactly did they go about playing this game? Did they hook you into virtual reality or make you 'play' with your injuries?

... [He makes a small pained noise before continuing]

[She takes another moment to take this in. You can hear the deep breath she takes over the line.]

I believe you. I'm not sure I get what you're talking about with the game, but. I know coming back from the dead is... possible.

Guess I'm kinda a hypocrite. About earlier and all the crazies here.

[Shepard laughs, but it's less amused and more 'what else do I do here everything is crazy'.]

Kid, I'm dating an alien and a bunch of scientists put me back together after a spaceship blew up with me on it. I'm starting to think we're all a little crazy.

Yep. A squadmate of mine. He kept me sane through some rough patches, and it's easy to get attached to someone who always has your back, even if you never thought you could like someone that different.

So the ship you mentioned before was... and the armor...

[Well, he's certainly cheered up. Shepard is grinning on her end of the call.]

Best spaceship in the fleet, with the best damn pilot too. I was the first human to be made a Spectre, we're basically black ops for the whole galaxy. So I've seen a lot of weird shit.

[She laughs.]

We'll have to compare notes.

Maybe we can even put together some vague idea of how all our bullshit lead us to this point in time.
