After the human reaper, I didn't think anything could surprise me. Universe just loves proving me wrong, doesn't it?

Come on, Garrus, introduce yourself!

Hmm? [Garrus looks off screen at the source of the high, friendly voice before turning back to look at the camera.] Oh, ah, right. Hi, I'm Garrus Vakarian, and, ah ... hmm ... little help, Patamon? [Once again, he looks off screen at his digimon partner after stumbling through that attempt at an introduction. He's just not very good at this type of thing, is he?]

Wh-wha? Don't look at me!

Right ... thanks. [And once again, the newly human Garrus looks at the screen.] I'm, ah, I'm kind of new here, so ... yeah. [He's not exactly an orator on the level of Shepard.]

[ Okay, don't mind Wally, he's just going to stare in awe for a few seconds. He saw that human reaper video, okay, he's seen what Shepard and her team can do. And now one of them is here. ]

Whoa. You're that guy from the video, aren't you? I mean, you... don't look all... alieny... but it's totally you!

[ His surprise shifts into a grin. ]

I'm sure the Commander will be glad to see you. It's definitely an honor meeting you. Uh, sort of.

[That reaction is one he's never going to get used to, that look of awe. He got it after the Citadel, and on Omega before things went south plenty of times, but it still just feels strange to him. He may have done a few amazing things, but when it comes down to it, he's just a guy doing his job, not some sort of hero.

[Still, there's some part of him that gets all warm and fuzzy, so Garrus finds himself smiling.]

Thanks, but, ah, what video?

[And to be fair, even though he isn't turian anymore doesn't mean he looks completely human. There's something almost predatory in the sharp curves of his face. That, and the mildly creepy fact that where normal human eyes should be white, his are black.]

[ Oh boy let him esplain you a thing about the video... He swallows, remembering that thing. He will likely never forget it, and he wasn't even there. ]

Well, uh, the Commander's Digimon accidentally... aired this video... Mission footage. I think it was called a reaper? I don't think I've ever been so amazed and traumatized at the same time...

[ He shudders. Whatever it was, it was freaky as fuck. ]

Anyway, you were in it. I recognize the armor.

[Garrus doesn't need to be a genius to figure out what he's talking about. The Human Reaper, back at the Collector Base.]

It wasn't a pretty sight, but it's gone now ...

[He leaves out the part of their being hundreds if not thousands more waiting in dark space. No need to completely traumatize the kid.]

Yeah, that's a relief, at least. Talk about nightmare fuel, though. I mean, I love scary movies and all that, but that... Well, it's different when you know it's real.

[ He's almost more impressed at how Shepard manages to cope than the fact that they actually killed the damn thing. ]

It's a whole other thing seeing it in person. At least until you hit it with enough combined fire that it stops moving, and you realize it goes down like everything else. Maybe a little harder, but the important thing is it goes down.

[ He feels a little guilty for trying to equate any of his experiences with this one, because, really, what could he possibly have experienced in his short career as a hero that could possibly measure up to that? He wants to say he gets it, but he really, really doesn't. So he asks the important question instead. ]

How do you... deal with that? I mean, not shooting it, that's obvious, but... like, how do you get past an experience like that? How do you sleep at night?

I tend to think of the worst as it is, so dreaming about it is just a waste of good sleep.

[He turns this over in his head, scratching the back of his neck idly as he thinks of an answer.]

It's a little different for everyone. Some people do some drinking, some just soldier through it. There's not really a universal answer I can give you.

Nothing that horrible's happened to me, anyway... I guess I just want to be... prepared. Or as prepared as I can be? I mean, if I ever get home... I doubt anything traumatizing is going to happen here.
