August Jobs!
Greetings, Citizens of Terminal Tokyo! This is your local Trailmon Job Agency doing its monthly rounds! We've a lot of jobs to fill and more people than normal. Hope none o' you youngins were out here for a vacation! Man-- I remember the good old days of running free, yes ma'am. Now my gears are all rustin' and it's a hard to get on chuggin'-- but never you mind all that!
Since there's a lot of new folk around here I best get'ta explaining, yeah? Beginning of the month or so we post a bunch of jobs. We Trailmon spend a while setting 'em all up nice and organized for you lot.
All ya gotta do is sign up to do it. Remember there's limited spaces for each, so don't be riding the slow'mon about it!
[[OOC MECHANICS: This is how it will work (we'll be doing it similar to
gargleblasted). Each number needed will be listed and it's first come first serve. Each character is allowed ONE (1) job, so please don't go signing up for more than that.
To get the job all you have to do is respond! SIGN UPS CAN BE FOUND HERE! Please respond with the CHARACTER JOURNAL of the character you wish to sign up with!
This is where all interactions will be taking place. There is a section for each job, and you will be allowed to set up further things as you like in terms of dates and times and who you will talk to.]]

He notices the leg, though, and...the fact that it's got a lot to be desired. His 'chewing' (if you can chew ice cream) slows, giving a soft smirk as his gaze turns back to the kid's face.]
'd by lyin' if I said I wasn't. You holdin' up since ya got back?

[He chuckles, lifting his leg and giving it an experimental bend. While it doesn't hurt like it did before, it's still not in the best shape in the world. It squeaks loudly with every step, and sometimes causes him to stagger as it threatens to completely rust through and fall apart. He can only hope he'll land somewhere soft when that happens.
Hiccup eyes Wheeljack's bowl of ice cream while he moves over to wipe down a table nearby. Fearless sits over at the window, working on cleaning them instead of opting to actually serve ice cream.]
I should have enough to buy parts for a new one...soon enough. I missed a lot of work last week, so-
[He gives a nonchalant shrug, moving on to the next table as he does.]

He sets his bowl to the side for a moment, grabbing a cloth to clean out the inside of the scooping area. Might as well chat while doing work, instead of the silence of doing it later.]
You make it yourself?
[Speaking of You, she scurries down off him, and over to the window, to assist Fearless if needed. She didn't like hanging around if that cold door was going to be open.]
no subject
[Hiccup pauses in his own cleaning to glance at Wheeljack, before looking down at his leg with a small shrug.]
No, my uh....a good friend of mine, Gobber, made it. He taught me everything I know about building things.
[The boy says this with a clear fondness in his tone. It's obvious he's talking about someone he deeply cares for.]
no subject
No kiddin'. Seems a shame, the state it's in now.
...
[He finishes cleaning the glass, shutting the door of the ice cream area before shaking his hands to get the feeling back in them.]
Bit of a mechanic, myself. Built my own ship and everythin'.
[Although the time period of Hiccup might lose the effect that has on the statement.]
no subject
[To be honest, Hiccup isn't thinking about the ships Wheeljack is thinking of at all. The only ships he's ever known are viking ships, and that's definitely not what he means. Still, the boy is impressed.]
You built it all by yourself?...Without anyone else to help you?
no subject
Yep. Bulkhead helped, of course, but just us two.
I'm a mechanic--work a lot with machines.
no subject
That's pretty amazing. I guess you can say I'm...sortof like that. More of a blacksmith's apprentice, really. I've made catapults, and saddles, and prosthetics for dragons...but never anything like my leg.
no subject
...Huh.
[It's not condescending in the least. In fact, that's probably one thing Wheeljack would be impressed with.]
...
How do you feel about collaborations, kid?
no subject
He perks a little at the suggestion, moving on to the next table to clean it before answering.]
Collaborations?.. I don't have any problem with that. Heck, might get things done faster if you've got an extra pair of hands on the job.
no subject
Thought so. How about we make an improved leg as a test run?
Pretty sure it could use it.
no subject
That...that sounds like a great idea, actually! I mean I wasn't sure where I was going to work, or where to get parts even.
no subject
As for a place...what about yours?

[He walks over, ruffling Hiccups hair as he picks up the empty cups on the other tables. And maybe the not-so-empty ones.]
no subject
Yep! Looks like we've got a lot of ice cream scooping to do between now and the next few weeks.
