Greetings, Citizens of Terminal Tokyo! This is your local Trailmon Job Agency doing its monthly rounds! We've a lot of jobs to fill and more people than normal. Hope none o' you youngins were out here for a vacation! Man-- I remember the good old days of running free, yes ma'am. Now my gears are all rustin' and it's a hard to get on chuggin'-- but never you mind all that!

Since there's a lot of new folk around here I best get'ta explaining, yeah? Beginning of the month or so we post a bunch of jobs. We Trailmon spend a while setting 'em all up nice and organized for you lot.

All ya gotta do is sign up to do it. Remember there's limited spaces for each, so don't be riding the slow'mon about it!

[[OOC MECHANICS: This is how it will work (we'll be doing it similar to gargleblasted). Each number needed will be listed and it's first come first serve. Each character is allowed ONE (1) job, so please don't go signing up for more than that.

To get the job all you have to do is respond! SIGN UPS CAN BE FOUND HERE! Please respond with the CHARACTER JOURNAL of the character you wish to sign up with!

This is where all interactions will be taking place. There is a section for each job, and you will be allowed to set up further things as you like in terms of dates and times and who you will talk to.]]

I...yeah. Wow, I can't really say I was expecting that. Where'd you learn to write with them?

[Oh boy here we go.]

[Hiccup's surprise can be clearly seen in his expression, and almost eagerly he flattens out the paper a bit more.]

Well...I grew up learning how to read and write, just like every other normal viking on Berk.

[Waver paused after that expression of flat astonishment, perhaps realizing that since his bff was Alexander the Great maybe he didn't have a leg to stand on when it came to deciding what was or wasn't unusual.]

...On second thought, never mind. I've heard stranger stuff than that.

...No, no I get it.

[He sighs a little but keeps that smile, moving to fold the paper back up.]

Seems like we're all a little far from home here, aren't we?

Y-yeah. Sorry, I guess that's just a little surprising.

[Sigh.]

So you probably can't read anything in here either, huh?

It's alright, I'm used to it.

[Hiccup pauses to take a quick glance at the books before shaking his head.]

No, at least...not yet. A friend of mine is going to teach me Japanese, eventually.

[Once the near death experiences stop.]

I've been trying to learn the language myself, but...it's kind of difficult. I'm used to using translation-based magecraft and things like that.

Magecraft?

[Hiccup wonders if he should even ask, but....he IS curious.]

Er--magic, basically. Sorcery, witchcraft...whatever somebody wants to call it, I guess.

I can't believe you can read runes too, though. I'm glad to hear someone else here other than me can.

It's a lot more common to write in English where I come from, but a lot of research material and the occasional written correspondence is in runes like these. Honestly, I'm just really happy to finally see something I understand.

[He nods. He can understand that, definitely.]

I doubt there are going to be any books written in runes here, but I'll keep my eyes open anyway. Maybe once I actually know how to read half of what's in here I'll have an easier time.
