First Verse : Video
This...is nothing like Lima.
[Despite the fact that she's not at home, Marley's actually looking rather upbeat about it. There's a friendly smile on her lips as she looks down at her D-Terminal.]
It's not a bad thing! It's just--It's different than home. But the little creatures are so adorable, and they're all being so nice!
You're nice, too, Marley! [Everyone, please direct your attention to the little Native American bird hovering just over Marley's shoulder. Marley laughs nervously as she leans her head just enough to bump against Hawkmon's.]
Aww, thanks Hawkmon. See what I mean? So nice!
[Hawkmon all but perches on her shoulder, though it doesn't seem to bother her. She's still all smiles.]
Oh, we saw the Statue of Liberty here! Can you believe it?! I know this isn't New York or anything close to it, but just seeing it reminds me of home. Or rather something that happened at home.
Oh? I didn't think a statue would be so important to you.
Yeah, it reminds me of my audition for the glee club at my high school. The show choir. I sang "New York State of Mind".
You can sing? Will you sing now?
[Marley's eyes glance to the D-Terminal as her smile falters before they focus on Hawkmon.]
I...I don't think anyone is going to want to hear me sing. Maybe another time? I'll sing just for you when we find our room.
Fourth room on the second floor, right?
That's what it says. It shouldn't be too much farther.
[Marley waves to the screen, once more smiling brightly before she cuts off the feed.]

[...Holy crap, show choir is intense. Cam is quiet for a moment. Even he can tell she sounds sad, what does he do?]
Um. It's. Well. ...That stuff happens in sports all the time, though. They're not the best, they just made themselves look like it. You guys deserve it, sounds like. If they hadn't been using in the first place, you probably would've gotten in.
[DEEP BREATHS CAM. Where did that come from?]
[Audio]
[There's the sound of wings flapping in the background.]
I let everyone down.
[Audio]
[Oh. That hits close. Far too close. It hurts a bit. No, it hurts a lot, and he can't think about it.]
...You're here, and you can't help that. So. That's not letting...people down, that's. You couldn't. And it's not, you're.
Um, hi, I'm Cam.
[When in doubt, introduce yourself!]
Re: [Audio]
Oh. I'm Marley. Marley Rose.
[Thank you for that. She really does appreciate the quick change of subject.]
[Audio]
[It's as much for her as it is him; he can't talk about...expectations.]
So you...just got here?
Re: [Audio]
What about you? When did you get here?
What if he doesn't want to tell, Hawkmon?
Oh. Don't worry about it, then!
[Sigh.] Sorry about that.
[Audio]
It's fine, I don't mind saying. About...a week? A week. Besides the first bunch...six months ago, we're... Well, that's when we all stared showing up.
Re: [Audio]
It's a manners thing, Hawkmon. You're suppose to be polite.
Oh.
Has much happened since you showed up?
[Audio]
Not...all that much. We've just been...settling in. Meeting our roommates. ...A pasta night.
Re: [Audio]
[Don't mind her. She likes meeting new people, even if it does make her nervous at first.]
[Audio]
I guess... I mean, not there, but...everyone's kinda...interesting here.
[Audio]
Marley! Who are you talking to? Why can't I see them?
Ah! Hawkmon?! I'm...This is Cam and he just--Maybe he wants to keep it strictly on audio.
Ooooh, okay.
...Sorry about that, Cam.
[Audio]
What? It's fine, my partner's a bit...overbearing too.
Campbell, I heard that!
I know, Lucemon. [A small, light laugh.] See?
...Everyone seems pretty nice here, you're right. Maybe it's a pretty good place.
Re: [Audio]
[She chuckles when she hears Lucemon in the background.]
Aww, you two sound perfect for each other!
[Audio]
I gue--
[He's cut off by a squeal; Lucemon sounds quite close now.]
You think?! Thank you, thank you! Campbell, I like her, you should be friends!
[Her giggles and excited squeaks get farther away, as Cam's presumably pushed her away.]
I think you've made her life.
[Audio]OHMYGODSOCUTE!
That's so cute, Cam! And I agree with her. I'd love to be your friend.
Will you be her friend, Cam? I'll be your friend, too!
[Audio]/bows
[!!! Just straight out asking? That's. A bit. But what if he lets her down? But he really does like people, he really is a bit lonely.
This internal debate comes across as a little unintelligible stammer.
I'm. Yeah. Okay? Okay, sure. We can be friends.
[Audio]
Hawkmon! Oh my god! Cam, I'm so so so sorry!
[She sounds absolutely horrified. Hawkmon, you're so embarrassing!]
[Audio]
I-it's fine! I mean, you just got here, and you don't really know anyone here, it's. Natural, don't worry.
[Audio]
[Marley's flashing back to life at her old high school, before McKinley. She's glad he can't see her right now. She wants to make friends, but she's not going to force any friendship with anyone. She'll let him decide...]
[Audio]
...I'm not really good at...saying things. Or good at a lot of things. [He makes his voice light; to joke, to hide.] But if you're okay with that, friends would be nice.
[Audio]
[Audio]
[She sounds happy, and that feels good. He did something right. He made someone happy.] Great. Then...we'll be friends.
[...Sorry. Not good at saying things.]
[Audio]
Great! Awesome. So, Friend [A little playful emphasis here.], what do you like to do for fun?
[Audio]
Well...
Yeah, Campbell! You haven't really told me a lot either.
That's. I guess... Some shows? I mean, I like Lost a lot. Just kinda...hanging with friends. There was a...karaoke night.
