I know this might sound a little strange, but does anyone know if there's a flower field around here somewhere? It's kind of important.

[The figure on screen shifts slightly, one hand reaching for the rings that hang from a necklace she's wearing. It's a habit she's had for a long while and being in a new world's not going to make it any better. It just might make it worse, but that remains to be seen.

Before she can say anything else, the feed blurs as it's suddenly moved to face the cameramon. The angle is way awkward, because honestly the d-terminal isn't exactly designed for her paws. To make up for it, the DORUmon its filming has a huge toothy grin as she teases her partner.]

Come on! It's your first message and already you've forgotten to introduce us!

[This startles Rinoa from her slightly moody thoughts and she giggles instead.]

I was getting there, you're just too impatient!

Then you're just gonna have to be faster than me next time. ANYWAYS, before I was so rudely interrupted! I'm Dorothy, a DORUmon, and this- [The feed shifts again as the cameramon turns the feed to focus on her partner.] Is my partner Rinoa. Say hi Rinoa!

[Completely railroaded by her own digimon, Rinoa simply smiles and waves cheerfully.]

You can't see the resemblance? Because I think Squall's a lot like Laguna! Just look at their personalities.

[Okay so yeah, they might seem like exact opposites, but they have to have something in common somewhere.]

Sounds best, I heard people've been acting super weird lately. I'm just not sure how well I can avoid him when he lives right across the hall.

Whatever he did, I'm sure he'll regret it when he's feeling more like himself again. Until then well, I dunno. Maybe we should avoid him together.

Uh...Their personalities are literal polar opposites. Aside from some basic facial structure I couldn't really place any resemblance at all. And I'm usually pretty good with that stuff.

But yeah. I guess it doesn't matter one way or the other. I made a promise.

I'll stick by him and do my best as a friend, but I won't have anything to do with him personally. i don't let people abuse me for any reason and he's lucky I didn't break his fuckin' neck.

[The fact that Roze took her quip seriously is endearing.]

It was a joke. I think anyone who seems them for more than a few seconds can tell they have almost nothing in common.

[All jokes aside, because this suddenly took a turn for the super serious.]

[ She sighs, clucking her tongue and shaking her head. ]

...nothing, nevermind. I'll get over it. He's probably just stressed out. A lot has been goin' on. I'm sure back home he's a real peach.

Anyways, you should get yourself good and settled in. Lemme know if you need anything? I'm up on the third floor at the far end of the hall.

[At the word peach, Rinoa smiles slightly.]

A peach? Well I don't know if I'd go quite that far, but he has his moments.


Actually, do you know where I could find a lock for my door? Apparently I'm going to be living with a sugar fiend. Seifer said to just don't bring sweet stuff home, but that's not gonna happen.

You live with Seifer? Little Squire is definitely all about treats. I'd think he'd be respectful of your things though. Seifer is too hyper critical of the little guy.

I'm sure you could find a lock at one of the shops in town though. They're pretty good about taking care of people's needs around here.

And don't worry, I'm damned nosy myself. Its no offense or anything. If I don't wanna talk I'll just say so.

You got it! Someone's got a bad sense of humor, because there's no way that's a coincidence. [Rinoa nods, eyes crinkling slightly.] I thought so somehow, he's that kind of guy.

I hope so. I know I said it was to save my snacks, but it'd just make me feel safer.

[Living with the guy who tried to feed her to a giant musclebound sorceress is naturally going to be a little nerve wracking at first.]

Alright! Sounds like a plan to me.

Safer? From Seifer? Why...what'd he do? He's always been kind of decent as far as I've seen. What would make you worry about needing locks for?

It's kind of complicated. [She rubs her arms slightly, fighting off the sudden chill the memories bring with them.] What do you know about the stuff that's been going on where we're from?

Not much? Neither of them talk about it much, but there was a bad glitch and people's memories were leakin' all over the place.

Squall cryin' in the rain, Seifer gettin' brain-washed by some spooky witch. Stuff like that.

That's just like them alright. Sounds like neither of them knows the full story anyway. You could say I'm from the end of the whole mess, at least we thought it was the end anyway. Looking around here I'm not so sure it was as over as we all thought.

I know the sorceress had some control over him, but there's a lot of stuff Seifer did that was pretty awful.

Poor guy... [ she sighs, shaking her head, still angry with Squall and Seifer, but being Roze, willing to forgive in time. Feeling bad about something tended to help the process. ]

Hot Pops I think is from further down the line than they are. You oughta talk to him...maybe you two can clear things up.

I guess he has had it pretty rough. [Which has in turn made it rougher for everyone else naturally.]

Yeah, I'll talk to Laguna about making sense of everything. Though somehow I don't think it'll be as easy as just telling them everything that happens.

Oh, I wouldn't assume as much, but he can fill you in on how much they know. He talks to them a bit more personally, I think. I base my relationships with people on my connection with them and our shared times, not their pasts. I don't ask questions too much unless its something I really think needs to be talked about.

Seifer seems to be a pretty big fan of Hot Pops, and I know Seifer and Squall both stuck pretty close while Pops was dealin' with his arm problem. Your best bet is talking to him to find out where everyone stands.

Other than that I don't think I can be much help. [ She remarked with an apologetic tone, shrugging slightly. ]

If today's anything to go by, I don't think they're going to believe me even if I told them. [Which is frustrating, why can't Rinoa know some less stubborn guys? It'd make life so much easier.] Seems like a good idea to me. Sometimes it's nice to get a fresh start and it's hard to get that with people who know you.

That sounds about right! At least from what I know about things anyway, I'm sure there's a bunch of stuff I don't know too.

Are you kidding? You've already been a huge help. I feel a lot better and at least now I have a plan! [There seriously isn't much that'll keep Rinoa down for long. Girl bounces back from things like a freaking punching bag or something.]

[ Roze could only smile appreciatively in response to the quick recovery. She herself was usually quite the same. It just seemed that lately things were a bit more difficult to get past. Of course when people you considered friends suddenly turned on you like vipers, it wasn't exactly easy to look beyond. ]

Well, if there's ever anything else you need help with, or you just wanna talk or hang out, I'm more than happy to. I could seriously use some more chick friends and you're almost as sweet as Shortcake. If I'm gonna hang with girls, I'd like 'em to be more tolerable than myself, haha.

[She's not completely over it, but sitting around all mopey isn't going to help her. So why do it? Rinoa's just going to have to take the bad with the good and work on improving things in the future.]

I'll be sure to hold you to that. I've never turned down an offer of friendship before and I'm not about to start now. [Pretty sure she'll need more friends now than ever what with how crazy this place can apparently be.] Thanks, I think. Is shortcake a who or a what? The way you said it I can't tell.

Ha. Yeah. A person. Her name is Miwako, but if you meet her, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. She's definitely a Shortcake.

[ Making a small sound of thought, Roze eventually looks up at the screen with a smile that didn't look entirely unforced. ]

[Crazy guys aside they'll probably be a good influence on each other. When they're not being bad influences that is.]
