[There's a new arrival on the network today. She's dressed like she's ready for a performance, but she doesn't really look happy about her situation. Anyone familiar with the area will notice Hibiki's taken to Tokyo Tower to try and figure out where the heck her apartment is.

She doesn't realize her device is filming, mostly because she's just trying out.]

—does it even work? Hey, Psychetaro, can't you even tell me that?



That's not my name, and if I teach you everything, you won't learn.

[There's a bit of joy to Psychemon's voice as he stands on a railing behind Hibiki, almost like...he's enjoying antagonizing her.]

If I can't figure it out, I can't learn it! And what about where we're going to live? I can't see it, even from up here!

If I don't tell you, you'll get a better feel for the city, right?

T-that's not the issue here! I need to ask everyone where F3...004 is! Just tell me how to turn it on!

I'm sure you'll figure something out! Besides, you already turned it on about thirty seconds ago.

...H-huh? [Blink.] ...Are you tryin' to be cute? T-that's not funny at all! [Oh. Wait. It is recording.] How do I turn it off?!

[After a few seconds of fumbling, Hibiki manages to turn off her communicator.]

[He's being sincere. ...So much so that he doesn't even realise it's making her suspicious. Oops.]

[Suddenly, a voice of common sense! ...Not that Connor often listens to him.]

[For obvious reasons, Hibiki isn't exactly listening to her partner, either...but her partner is kind of a jerk. Psychemon opens his mouth to say something, but Hibiki interrupts him before he can speak.]

That's...that's fine! I don't really know what's goin' on yet, but I it'd be better if we shared, right? I can't just take it from ya.

[Armadillomon beams cheerfully.] Then it's settled! I'm Armadillomon, and this is Connor. Nice to meet you, new roommates!

[Psychemon interjects quickly, trying to beat Hibiki to the punch.]

D-don't listen to Psychetaro! I'm Hibiki, and it's nice to meet ya! I've never had a roommate before...but I'll do my best, alright?

[Armadillomon's ears droop and he looks dejected. Connor, on the other hand, ignores Psychemon.]

I am accustomed to sharing quarters with far more people than this; I do not think it will be an issue.

Hey, before we get into that, can I see that guy a bit closer? Armadillomon, right?

Yes, of course.

[Connor looks surprised, but complies, putting the D-Terminal on the ground so it's more at Armadillomon's level. The Digimon still looks a little upset, but getting her attention makes him perk up a little.]

What can I do for you, Miss Hibiki?

[Why does Connor get such a cute Digimon? When Hibiki's eyes light up, Psychemon quickly jumps down and waves to try and get her attention.]

This one's such a cutie! He's really polite, too! I've never seen an animal like this before...How about we call you Armusuke?

"Armusuke"? What does it mean?

[Armadillomon looks pleased with himself.] Call me whatever you want!

"Suke" is a popular suffix for boys' names where I come from! Just like "Taro" is.

[Hibiki nods, approving of her own impromptu nickname.] Okay! Armusuke it is! Maybe Psychetaro can learn a thing or two about behaving from ya.

[Armadillomon beams.] I'll be a paragon of good Digimon behaviour, promise! I'm house-trained and don't malt.

[Connor shakes his head and smiles slightly. Armadillomon you're ridiculous.]

Where are you from, then?

You don't...malt? [She blinks, then laughs.] That sounds great, Armusuke!

[She has to shift her attention back to Connor eventually, but it kind of takes her a moment to realize that he needs to pick up the communicator...she just moves around a little like she'll be able to see him better on her end.]

I'm from Okinawa! Where are you from?

[Connor, on the other hand, is oblivious until Armadillomon nudges the communicator pointedly towards him with his snout. There's a view of... not a lot besides his moccasins for a moment, until Connor realises and crouches down, peering at the camera. Oh right, cameras are a thing.]

I have never heard of that place. [He pauses, then decides there's no point lying; they're in another world, what does secrecy matter?] I am from a valley, northeast of New York.

[Oh, wow, someone worse with cameras than Hibiki. She doesn't say anything while he goes to peer down at the camera. It's a bit easier for her to talk to the Digimon, but it's okay! She rubs the back of her neck, feeling a bit awkward still.]

You've never heard of Okinawa? [Now she just looks a bit disappointed.] It's part of Japan...and New York is part of America, right?

[Connor is oblivious to her awkward! ...Don't worry, he'll get the hang of this thing eventually. Hopefully.]

I have not. Is it a city, or a village? [Then he nods.] Yes.

Neither! [And this gets a big smile out of her.] Okinawa's a prefecture! It's the southernmost one. It's made up of a bunch of islands! I could walk to the beach from my backyard.

[Right...given what she's learned so far, she probably won't be able to go back for a while. Hmm. After a moment of silence, she forces a subject change.]

What's your home like?

Japan is divided into prefectures, then? I see.

[His geographical knowledge mostly spans North America and the Caribbean; his knowledge about other countries is more lacking. It's interesting to be able to learn about a faraway culture, though.]

My hometown is a small village in the Mohawk Valley. It is in a forest, on the shores of a vast lake. My second home is on the coast and further south, closer to Boston.

Mmhmm! Okinawa wasn't part of Japan for a really long time, but now it is! It has been for over a century now.

[Hibiki's knowledge of the world is limited to everything she learned before switching to an idol school...and pop culture.]

So you grew up surrounded by nature, too? That's really awesome!

Yes. A city like this is very different to the way of life of my people. [Seriously he's pretty sure he hasn't even seen a single tree yet. He's fascinated by the place and its dizzyingly tall buildings, but it's by no means somewhere he could imagine living forever.]
