[Maybe it's a good thing there's so little new Chosen this round. Or maybe a bad thing? If there were more, they would have probably helped calm her down...
...In any case, the whole D-Terminal thing is a bit too elaborate to be a scam, and the beast she may have kicked around a fair bit doesn't seem to be a mindless monster. Anyway, the little red... thing is lying dizzy on the floor right now. Eh, it's not permanent. She's got more matters to worry about than a creature who might just be pretending.
Scrolling through the D-Terminal a bit (after tedious attempts, she's not good at mechanics okay_, she's somehow figured out how to broadcast a message. Smart network idea. Her face is a bit too close to the screen, but it's still pretty clear she's angry.]
My name is Edea Lee. [Fuck beating the bush, she's gonna set it on fire.] If anyone knows about the whereabouts of my friends, please inform me immediately. Their names are Tiz Arrior, Agnés Oblige and Ringabel.
If you're trapping us here, father, you still... [...dammit this thing is live isn't it she should've planned beforehand...] ...underestimate us. [Yeah, smooth. Totally intimidating.
Moving on though. Cue the device flashing around wildly before she figures out how to show her fainted Guilmon to the network.] And what exactly is this thing? I get that it's a Digimon, but what is it?
[give this girl a fucking literature degree]

...
Wait. That voice.
It's one of a young woman. Angered, more than slightly confused, yet bearing a forward tone. Feminine, but strong - and one which bears an undercurrent of confidence. He immediately stops what he's doing and crawls from the lift space, loosening a hatch and jumping from it into the main room where Beastboy stands, much to Biyomon's protest. ]
"A break, now? But we're almost finished...!"
[And! He immediately walks to a mirror. Thankfully, though broken, the lift shaft was clean. A quick check for dirt on his face (none, thankfully!) and a very quick go over with a handy-dandy comb... And an adjustment of his collar.]
....
[Then a deep breath.]
Hello, Edea. It's been quite a while! Do let me take a guess. A portal you've no idea you even stepped into- a fall, someone calling your name, and then a dreary, dull room... and that red thing on the ground being somewhat more... animated than he is now. Am I correct?
no subject
...That's you, alright. I doubt my father could fake a replica just as unique as you. [Also hiding the fact she's kind of glad to see him. She actually expected to see everyone, but from what Beastboy said... well...]
So, I take it that you haven't been behaving while we were all absent? [DAMMIT RINGABEL IF YOU JUST ACTED GENUINE FOR ONCE SHE WOULDN'T TAKE YOU FOR THE COCKSURE ASSHOLE YOU ARE AT FACE VALUE]
no subject
...
[But he's just going to look slightly confused.]
I hardly see how the Templar could have anything to do with this. This is a different world entirely, Edea. The Digital World, by all accounts. And welcome! It's made all the more magnificent by your presence. If you'll hold on for a moment, I'll have the Eschalot at HospiTown posthaste to rescue you from such a drab and dare I say it- dull locale.
[Behaving. Hrm. There's a slightly wry smile, but no comment.]
Do say hello, Escha.
[The camera moves to a Biyomon, who is... staring at the floor.]
"..."
Well. I trust you are unharmed, Edea? No monsters, or Eternian infantry came through with you?
no subject
[All compliments from this particular character seem hollow most of the time (yes, offense intended), but he does seem happy. Still- she was worried sick, dammit. Worried over everyone and not exactly thinking straight as she got zipped here out of nowhere, though as much as she hated being in her own room... don't make her fucking regret it.] The Eschalot...? The Eschalot is here?!
[HOLD ON WHAT SHE DIDNT ACTUALLY TAKE BEASTBOY'S COMMENT INTO HEART] None that I know of. And did you name that Digimon after the sky ship?
no subject
The Eschalot is here, yes. Without any trace of the Sky Knight's rough handling, forced dockings on holiday homes, or any improvised weaponry they could bolt onto the decks. Also, she's more than capable of flight. It's almost as if our mutual friend never trashed her Skystone. Tell me... would you know if Eternia commissioned the creation of multiple Eschalots? That would explain it.
[There's a small look to Escha, and a tilted nod of the head as he realizes she's gone. Strange... ]
Yes. Any woman deserves a beauteous name, does she not? By all accounts, she rather likes it.
no subject
[That should be enough to tell him there's something off with his perception of timelines here. In Edea's case, she's dismissing his lack of care for being here a period of time already, and barely noticing Escha being missing. Also, her Guilmon is... beginning to stir, okay! By this point, she's placed it on her lap.] Well... okay, I guess that's fine if she likes it. But it's still a touch egotistical, isn't it?
no subject
[A hairflip. But he soon turns serious, looking off into the distance before he returns his gaze to the camera. The earth crystal... No. No, that isn't right. Talk of the Eschalot entirely abandoned, (not like he'd tell her that piloting this, the feel of it, indicates it isn't a "similar model", instead it is the Eschalot) he balances his chin on meshed, gloved fingers.]
Edea... The Earth Crystal is awoken. We fought through your father to reach it, and used Grandship to reach the pillar of light in order for Airy to use that light to purge the darkness from Luxendarc. Alternis Dim is also dead. He dropped this, do you not remember?
[He's just going to walk offscreen for a moment, and return with two books, both battered, both black covered, and both bearing a D on the cover. His, and Alternis Dim's.]
His face was mine. You asked me what I was, and then-
[Both books are placed down.]
Tell me what you remember.
no subject
Moving on, though- that change in expression doesn't pass by her unnoticed. What really takes the cake is what he says next, though.]
Alternis Dim is dead? [The Earth Crystal being awoken is a pleasant surprise (but more of a surprise), fighting her father is a given- Alternis Dim's... journal?]
Don't joke around, Ringabel! He was my childhood friend, we trained under the same master. [She tries to say that matter-of-factly, but she knows this guy well enough to understand that he wouldn't joke about something like this. They traveled the continent, after all, and activated... three Crystals. It's a lot to take in, so Edea is just going to answer the last question and trust that Ringabel can find that useful to figuring out their situation.]
...We were all knocked out. In the Eternia Council Headquarters. I was brought to my room, and you all were locked up someplace else. [Not going to touch on her father's conversation unless it's needed.]
no subject
[Escha isn't mentioned at all. No- they're onto far more important things. Either! Edea's lost her memory, or he's recovered some (but why would they be about that man? He'd have expected any memories regained to be far more geared toward anything but a male.) Or! Somehow! They're from different points in time. Somehow.
The concept is a strange one. A very strange one, but who knows what happened in that pillar...
But one thing's for sure, she's actually looking quite rattled. It's time to stop this conversation.]
... Will you come to StarCity? If Tiz and Agnés haven't come from that building yet, they're not likely to. But we still shouldn't split up, even here.
no subject
Why didn't we stop him from falling off? [She doesn't stop herself in time, though. Dashing through her old friendships and breaking bonds with people she once considered as white as the driven snow, falling on the ground of the village, though it never had time to settle before they ran out of their houses and kicked it all up together while they-] ...Nevermind.
Well, I don't have anywhere else to go or anyone else to listen to, do I? [No use lumbering around in the past. Even though it hasn't happened yet. Ringabel- hell, no one has anything to gain from messing with her like this. She's mostly dropped the notion that this is a trick and the Sky Knights are spying on her, but she's still going to be quite jumpy.] How do I get to this StarCity?
no subject
I'll pick you up in the Eschalot. If you'll go to the cliffs south of HospiTown... [A small amount of playing with his D-Terminal... and Edea's should bleep.] There, I've marked it on your map. It's a five minute walk, at a brisk pace. I'll be there in ten. Oh, and you'll want to take that red monster of yours. We're powerless here, I'm afraid. While I've some asterisks, they're not good for anything but spare clothes. Our Freelancer abilities just don't work either, and potions...
[A pause.]
Just as disgusting, with absolutely no effect, more's the pity. Your monster is your weapon here. Ours are useless.
[And something that maybe, might, possibly cheer her up. Possibly. ...Maybe. Just a little.]
You'll love StarCity. It's quite unlike anything we've ever seen.
no subject
Some things need to be discussed face-to-face, though. For example, what did he mean by Alternis Dim having Ringabel's face? Shouting over the network-thing won't help much, and honestly, she's still slightly paranoid someone is tracking this.]
I see... [None of them work? Either they're all dud, or some powerful magic... or maybe, this is actually a really separate world with different laws of nature and magic!!! Wow.] I'll be there. With my... Guilmon-
[-who happens to have just opened his eyes and slammed his head upwards with a screech.]
WAH!
GYAH! [Such splitting imagery. Well, the camera view just flew straight down to the ground unceremoniously.]
I'm just going to hop right to action if that's ok with you
[A.... wince.]
...Edea?!
[And there might be a sound of a (returned!) Biyomon laughing abruptly.]
no prob!
I'll be there. Just... [oh lord her chin hurts why don't potions work here fml fml fml] Just get there!
I'm sorry! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to! I know, it's fine. [She doesn't even know Biyomon is laughing. If she did, though... tbh that timing is frankly pretty creepy]
If you can't be nice-
Don't even think about excluding me from this! I'm not going to leave you alone with her. Least of all over some cliffs!
...
[When she's recovered, Ringabel's going to look a touch resigned, but he's going to force a smile.]
We'll be there posthaste.
[The feed cuts out, and later! At the cliffs where Ringabel marked Edea's map, give or take 10 minutes later, there's a dull rumbling in the sky. True to his word, the ship docks at the cliffs after a few moments (Ports make this sort of thing far easier, but thankfully he's managed to procure a pretty long ladder in order to make boarding here not so impossible. When Edea boards... it's the Eschalot, alright. And Ringabel's standing at the helm, looking more like his usual self. There might be Escha by the cabin though, distinctly staring...]
A lovely day for flying, if I do say so myself. And, as always, I shall take you whereever you wish to go, my lady! There's an entirely new world to explore after all, and I shall always be your wings.
[Okay, maybe he's trying to break the tension the Biyomon's supplying in spades. And Escha might roll her eyes at that. All of it, actually, even as she moves protectively closer to her chosen without even a hello toward Guilmon.]
....
[action]
...maybe it's just him...
Anyway, she does pick up Escha's words. What's that all about? Don't tell her the little thing is jealous that Ringabel is paying someone else attention. That would be adorable and also creepily possessive. Unfortunately, the truth is far worse than that, but still.
When the ladder does fall, there's a strangely long pause before Edea makes it up on deck, Guilmon coiled so tightly around her neck it may just pass off as a scarf. Or a murder attempt.]
Sorry for the wait. He's scared of heights.
...Sorry...
[Honestly, the only reason why Edea is being so patient with him is because she frankly feels pretty terrible right now after realizing what an excitable almost-child he is. With a chronic need to apologize for everything, but that's all she's gathered as of now. She's going to... uh, ignore that Biyomon as of now. Yeah, definitely jealous.] Someplace to rest would probably be a good first stop. [Since we need to Discuss Things.
You know.
OUT OF THAT THING'S LINE OF SIGHT.]
[action]
[His tone is light. The red dragon/hound(?) thing, upon closer inspection, is actually kind of adorable - and anything other than Escha's dry nature is quite welcome by now. But there's something about it- the mark on his stomach and head. It looks... familiar. He doesn't put too much thought into it though, his concern's on Edea.]
And eat. I'm unsure about you, but I'm famished - and you and yours needn't pay a single bit. Now. Guilmon, I'd hold onto something if I were you.
[With that, he moves to hoist the ladder up, and returns to the controls. The airship's up, up, up~ and the view's quite astonishing, really. There's castles of some sort to the north and mountains, a rather large tree and a lake - and to the south endless ocean. But they're going northwest, and the sight of StarCity - a city made of metal and glass shimmering in the sun really is quite something. Soon enough, the ship comes down at the cliffs to the south of that, and Ringabel moves from the controls again, the engine slowing and stopping immediately as soon as he puts down the anchor with a push of a few buttons.
The ladder's out again - and he checks it once, twice - no, three times, before allowing Edea to use it first, stepping back for her. ...And yes, Escha's still staring. Creepy.]
[action]
It's like having a pet. Except it's easily around human sentience. A mom, then? Parenthood is hard work, even dismissing the fact that your kid might just backstab you and break half of your bones in the process]
Come to mention it... I could use a bite. Matter of fact, after all that's happened at home, I'm starving. [Yeah, push away all those important discussions till later.
...And holy hell Ringabel was not joking when he said StarCity was certainly something. She's leaning over the side of the ship, admiring it like the city of Florem, except with more lights and shiny things (and there's her Guilmon tugging her boots whimpering something around noooo edea come back you'll fall off!!! but is unfortunately thoroughly ignored and definitely does not accept the offer to crane his neck up to look at the city from bird's eye view either.
Edea's a bit wary for Escha, but at the same time, it's hard to be intimidated by a pretty pink bird. Especially with her current experience with Digimon being the timid kid she's currently trying to maneuver down the ladder with.] This city... it's almost like a huge piece of machinery, but much brighter than anything we've dealt with. It's like the sun itself it reflected twofold here!
no subject
Excellent! I noticed a pastry shop I've been quite willing to try within. Perhaps it's better than everything else here.
[Some explanation required on that one!] HospiTown... is not the place to eat, I'm afraid. Everything's distinctly... steamed. [Just like hospital food.] And there's no animals here. While likely Agnès' dream, for those of us which actually enjoy eating... the cuisine of the digital world in HospiTown anyway leaves a lot to be desired.
...And did I mention their coffee is appalling? Such deserves mention, even thriceover. It's far worse than Anchiem's, even.
[Once Edea's (safely) down, he moves - offering his arm, whether she wishes to take it or not. Probably not, but he can only hope.
And not show any reaction if it's refused. Of course not.]Ah. This place - StarCity, is inhabited mainly by digimon now. Originally, it was from someone else's world. That someone - Beastboy - whom I believe you were speaking with earlier. For the moment, I'm working with him on something. It's his intention to have a certain tower operational. He's something called a "superhero", which.. apparently works to protect innocents on his world.... something he intends to do here. A good a cause as any, of course - His tower's a big part of making that happen, and I've given my word I would help. I'm sure he'll allow you residence while I'm there, though.
[And! As they enter the city and he speaks, his eyes might focus on ....rather scantily clad digimon of the female variety as they walk. ...Just slightly. Fleetingly. Occasionally. But they always return!]
no subject
...Uh... Oh, Beastboy...? Yes, I did speak with him. An entire ship could be taken from out world, and an entire city from his?
[THAT IS. PRETTY SPECTACULAR, ESPECIALLY SEEING SHE DIDN'T KNOW DIFFERENT WORLDS EXISTED TILL NOW.] A superhero... that doesn't sound too bad. [don't let her get ideas oh shit] Is there anything I can do to help too?
After we settle our own matters, of course. [DON'T FORGET ABOUT THAT.]
no subject
They eat data, apparently. It's quite a difficult concept to grasp - but everything here is data. Even us. Data is... [Oh, this concept's really difficult. Especially for people of their world.] ...everything. If you are harmed here, you.. repair yourself. A scuffle a few weeks ago had my shoulder quite broken. I'd worried if it'd stay that way, but my body repaired itself in time. ...Almost like Eternia's-
[No. best not. He knows that even at this point of time, she'd know what the white magic chambers are, given her mother's condition and all. But... no. Certainly not.]
... Perhaps because we're data, we're fakes - copies of ourselves and back on Luxendarc our "real" selves are somewhere merely sleeping. It would certainly explain why our Asterisks don't work if they're just copies. But I can assure you, the pain of getting hurt is quite real. Maybe we're not fakes, after all.
[And her question!]
There is something, actually. I noted the tower itself is trashed. The interiors are quite a mess. You've a good eye for what looks good, so I'm sure your help in helping put the place back together would be appreciated.
[A wry smile.]
...And correcting what it looked like beforehand wouldn't be unwarranted, either. It certainly needs a woman's touch!
[And a floramon comes over, cheerfully asking for the order. Ringabel, despite saying he was hungry earlier, merely settles for something simple, and black coffee. ]
...Regarding our matter... You might find reading Dim's journal to help. There's... quite a bit in there which should perhaps explain matters.
[Of course, some of it's identical to his own. The other parts still make him want to punch the guy's head in of course, dead or not.]
no subject
What's data? [Of course, Ringabel... kind of answers it. Uh. Yeah. Edea doesn't fucking miss that, by the way, she knows what you mean. The comparison settles more comfortably with her than expected, perhaps because Ringabel decided to retract on it.] So, what you're saying is... we're conscious projections of ourselves... into a world of data? [She knows what they are. Swordmaster Kamiizumi mentioned there were many, many techniques when it came to battle- apparently, some people wielded the ability of out-of-body-experiences, where their conscious can split and view things their physical form can't.
...Well... this could be something like that. God, she doesn't know.] Well, okay then. I'll see what I can do. [She does have good aesthetic eyesight! Ringabel's wallet during their Florem stay can testify.
...The issue regarding Alternis Dim's journal does make the mood drop, though.] His journal...
...Alright, Ringabel. You need to tell me exactly- what happens in the future? If I'm supposed to believe that your words are the absolute truth, since I have no memory of that.
no subject
...Believing we're conscious projections may very well make all of this go by more easily. I've no idea, frankly. But I'll believe whatever I can in order to make this less trying than it has to be. There's nothing implicitly stating we're not, after all. It may very well be the case.
[And there's a small exhale.]
I've no reason to lie to you - not about anything. I remember exactly what you said last happened, the vampire- Lord DeRosso- got us. Alternis Dim carried you to your room to await the Templar... and we were slung into the dungeons. Presumably to rot, who knows. But that was not the case - you used a passage in your room and saved the day by rescuing us.
Of note is the fact the sage Yulyana appears to be a member of the Council of Six. I don't know why... nor why, after revealing that, he helped us escape. Regardless, we all went forward to confront the Templar. We defeated him, but Edea - know this. He lived. If some part of you worried for him - [No. Best not. It's not his place.]
....He is alive. Trust me on this. We overpowered him, but we did not kill him. We awakened the Earth Crystal after defeating the thing which came from it. Airy's broach lit up entirely... then we took the Grandship to where an enormous pillar of light formed, beyond the sea of the Corsairs. Then... Airy started meditating, in order to gather the light and spread it across the world, in order to close the chasm and destroy all of the darkness. We thought we'd finally done it - but Zatz and Datz alerted us to Alternis Dim landing on deck. He'd been waiting for us the entire time - the fact I didn't see his airship...
[Ugh. There's a small hairflip. He's... actually pretty disgusted at himself for that one, even though there's no way he could have known what was inside the pillar. It was too bright.]
...Regardless, he intended to kill us. You as well, eventually.
[No. He's not going to explain about the marriage proposal.]
We had to defeat him. He was bloodied, and gravely injured, but you stayed your blade. Then his helmet fell off. He looked at me, and questioned why. Then the pillar exploded - he fell off the edge of Grandship. We all tried to grab his hand, but the shock was too violent - the distance too great. We were too far away from him, for obvious reasons. He's quite deadly when he's in that condition.
[Extremely disconcerting. He might actually be fidgeting, slightly. What can be said. Even for him, seeing his own face on that man is beyond disarming.]
...You would know if he had a brother of some sorts, wouldn't you? We're identical, Edea - and it's the only explanation for any of it... albeit the "evil twin" thing being a very tired old cliche.
[A small exhale. He's going to stay quite quiet about parts of their journals being identical though. There's just no explaining that.]
...After that, I woke here. With Escha.
[Who is woefully silent, and looking to the ground in disgust.]
no subject
Her head is propped up and Edea is not keen to look at anything but the wall right now. At least... her father isn't dead. She could... if there was a way to go back, then, she could easily change the order of events. The only positive thing was how they did awake the Earth Crystal, and she could break them out.]
...There's no way of telling if he did. He was a child from the streets. My father took him in. [Aka, 'there could be, but the chance is low'.] He liked to make sure we all knew that. Along with recounts we all didn't want to hear...
[As Ringabel lands on his last word, her eyes shift to the Digimon temporarily. There's- she can't read the expression on her face well enough, before her Guilmon sneaks down and tries to take a closer look at Escha's face.] But, if you look exactly like him, Ringabel...
...Are you sure you don't remember anything about your past? [Her tone is a mite bit dangerous here.] Exactly who or what are you, Ringabel...?
