Mission 4: Repeat performances (Early morning, at the start of Dante's trip.)

At first it's nothing but the dark red and black of the inside of Dante's coat pocket, along with the sounds of footsteps and shifting cloth. That lasts only a few seconds before the feed cuts to another set of memories. It shuts off with Dante none the wiser that his D-T was even on.*

And trust me, him bein' a priest don't mean shit. Guy was lookin' to open a hellgate right smack in the center of a city to lure demons into the human world so he could kill 'em.

And perks to bein' half demon. I can get tired, but you gotta be in my weight class to wear me out. My amphibious friend was barely even a warm up for the main event.

Huh...I'll admit, I'm a little jealous. I've got enough demon blood through the generations to give me all kinds of perks in the long term, but there's some shit you just don't do alone, in the family business.

Dragons, for instance. Always a team effort.

Don't be. Yeah, I kick a hell of a lot of ass, but I got exactly two people I can count on for backup if I manage to get in over my head. I gotta be the top of the food chain, or else I'm gonna get myself killed.

True, true. I suppose in that I'm lucky. I don't know many personally, and a lot of them don't get along for all sorts of reasons, but the truth is, Guardians tend to work together fairly often over the years. And we're all pretty reliable by nature.

Then I guess I know who to give a shout if I need a hand and Lady and Trish don't get their asses here in time.

Honest truth. If we were around the same place, I'd show up and help you with anything, man. I'd be honored and delighted. [ She nods, givign him a thumbs up and a shark-smile. ]

*He grins and gives a wink. Three guesses where his mind is.*

Well, y'know, normally you only live one life. Best to make sure you fit as much into it as possible. Wouldn't wanna have regrets. I imagine turning down an invitation is just one thing to wish you didn't do. *wink returned, mate*

And even I dunno how long this life of mine's gonna be, so there's no use dawdlin' to debate over stuff you know you wanna do, now is there?

Nope. Wastin' time is wastin' time, no matter how you look at it. Always fill the days with things that make you happen and give you fine memories to look back on in those dark moments.

Honest truth, there. Be reckless and free. As long as you're honest and try to be a good person in the meanwhile, whatever crazy nonsense you're doing isn't likely to hurt anyone other than you. And sometimes its a lesson learned and a good hurt.

So she your girl back home? [ No jealousy, just curiosity. She was learning about boyfriends and girlfriends and friend-friends. Envy, maybe, but just because she didn't have anyone to talk about in turn. She'd nearly dated her dad. Not exactly fun talk. ]

Nah, just a friend and business partner. Made a few passes, but she keeps claiming she ain't interested.

Wow. Got some integrity, that one. Almost makes me feel bad. *sniff* I just don't see any point in holding back. Live the good life while you have a life to live.

I'm bettin' she just doesn't wanna take back what she said about not bein' interested in dating demons. ...That, or she's just pissed about the money I owe her.

You ever just ask her outright? Like...just "Hey...I honestly like you. Would you consider giving us a chance despite the parts of me I can't change?"

I mean sometimes you gotta be a bigger man instead of a bigger dick.

Trish called her on actin' jealous once. She made it pretty clear she wasn't planning on admitting anything.

Well, no chick likes to be called out by another chick. Specially about likin' a guy they refuted before. Kinda like dudes don't like bein' called out for likin' the butter-face girl.

You should give it a crack. Might kinda be missin' out on somethin' important.

We'll see, but I sure ain't lookin' to get shot in the face again. Lady's got a hell of a temper.

...And probably ain't gonna say yes as long's I still owe her.
