I know this might sound a little strange, but does anyone know if there's a flower field around here somewhere? It's kind of important.

[The figure on screen shifts slightly, one hand reaching for the rings that hang from a necklace she's wearing. It's a habit she's had for a long while and being in a new world's not going to make it any better. It just might make it worse, but that remains to be seen.

Before she can say anything else, the feed blurs as it's suddenly moved to face the cameramon. The angle is way awkward, because honestly the d-terminal isn't exactly designed for her paws. To make up for it, the DORUmon its filming has a huge toothy grin as she teases her partner.]

Come on! It's your first message and already you've forgotten to introduce us!

[This startles Rinoa from her slightly moody thoughts and she giggles instead.]

I was getting there, you're just too impatient!

Then you're just gonna have to be faster than me next time. ANYWAYS, before I was so rudely interrupted! I'm Dorothy, a DORUmon, and this- [The feed shifts again as the cameramon turns the feed to focus on her partner.] Is my partner Rinoa. Say hi Rinoa!

[Completely railroaded by her own digimon, Rinoa simply smiles and waves cheerfully.]

[Since it's clearly the most important thing Roze just said. Rinoa puffs out her cheeks at the other girl in annoyance.]

Hey! I'm almost 18! At least, I was? Fist there was time compression and now it's world jumping so I'm not even sure about that anymore.

[On second though, getting comfy seems like a good idea if Roze is serious about hearing her whole story. So after a moment's thought she settles down onto her own bed, curling up with the Terminal before even starting her story.]

There's magic where I'm from and technology too, but it's nothing like the stuff here yet.

[She stops then, not really sure what to say.]

You can't really want to hear my whole life story! Is there anything specific you want to know?

It's not that I don't like guys! It's more they're just giant jerks and meanies and sometimes I think I could almost hate him!

[Rinoa sniffs at that, Squall's comment about her making stuff up still stings even now. Though honestly that's not as bad as him not remembering things.]

What? Why can't I wanna hear your whole life story? Its not like I've got anything better to do, most days. I work, I go home. Home time is free to do whatever time, and right now, that time is pretty much devoted to you, because I can do that.

I'm cool that way.

[ She sniffs, cocking a pink brow and smirking faintly. ]

I just turned eighteen a couple weeks ago. Age is irrelevant. I said delicate, not young, haha. [ The smile stays, though she doesn't look quite as bright mentioning her birthday. When Rinoa says "him" instead of "them", however, her curiosity is instantly piqued. ]

Woah woah woah, hold up, I sense legit girl-talk on the horizon. Who is "him" and what's he a giant jerk for?

I guess you can if you really want to, I just didn't think you'd really want to that's all!

[Someone actually wants to listen to her talk, that's so novel.]

Alright, I will! I'll tell you the whole story! Maybe you can help me figure out if I missed something or got the wrong idea somehow.

[At the delicate comment Rinoa retaliates in the only way she knows how. Naturally this means she sticks her tongue out at Roze. Not that the cheer stays very long, stupid Squall.]

His name's Squall. He's a f- someone I know from back home. He made me a promise once, but now he says he's forgotten all about it. Worse, he thinks I made it all up! I didn't make it up though! It really happened! But no matter what I say he won't listen to me!

[Because clearly that's what Roze wants to hear about right now, Squall being a jerk.]

Squall is a two-faced prick. [ She answers suddenly in a dull monotone, eyes flat and disinterested. ]

If you have trouble with him, I understand. And now I remember. You're that girl. The one from back with Squall and Seifer. I thought the name was familiar but didn't really count on the odds.

[ She sighs, licking the corner of her mouth briefly. ]

What'd the shitty little bipolar eunuch say to you?

So you've met? He's not always so bad, he can even be kind of sweet sometimes.

[There she goes again, holding onto Griever fairly tightly. She's just going to have to trust he memories on this and remember how he can really be, because this is ridiculous.]

Yeah, I guess so. Though I'm not sure if I'd trust what they told you, at least not if it's anything like that one guy was saying. [Ah, Neku really did leave a bad impression.] He called me that girl too, but when he said it it sounded like the worst thing ever.

Just like I said. He made me a promise back on our world and now he's acting like it never happened! When I tried to remind him about it he refused to listen and even said he wouldn't put it past me to make the whole thing up! I don't understand why he'd say things like this, it's not like him anymore.

Nah, don't worry about that part, girly. Maybe he's nicer back where you're from. The problem around here is that not everyone comes from the same time frame as one another. Like Hot Old Du--uh...Laguna? He's from y'all's world but he seems to know a lot more about things than Squall or Seifer.

So maybe its just this Squall is from earlier in your time frame and doesn't remember?

[ She sighed, shrugging dismissively. ]

I ain't got any problem with you so I wouldn't need to be all like "You're that girl" or anything. You ain't even done any wrong by me, so why should I have beef?

Wait, seriously? Why isn't something like that in the guide for new people? It's kind of important. And why didn't Squall tell me? This whole thing could have been cleared up before it started if he'd just said so!

[Yes, she read the guide. It seemed useful, but know she's going to wonder what else it didn't bother to warn her about. Then there's a pause, because wait what'd she say? She's just going to ignore the bit about Squall's dad being hot, even if it is true.]

Really? Laguna's here too? That's great! Maybe he can help me talk some sense into Squall later.

[Awe thanks Roze, she feels a little bit better now. Such a helpful person.]

That's what I thought, but that one guy really had it out for me. It was kind of weird. I've never felt so hated by a complete stranger before. Thanks, Roze. Maybe this is all a little weird, but I'm glad we met.

Hey hey, any time, that's what I'm here for. [ She smiled faintly, cocking her head to the side with a wink. ]

But I wouldn't count on Hot Pops helpin' ya any with Squall. They don't get along well. Hot Pops tries but Squall is just kind of a dick to him all the time. I thought maybe it was personal but I guess Squall is just like that in general.

Poor Laguna. Squall never did like him much before either. I was hoping that once they had time to get to know each other as family they'd get passed that, but I guess that'd be really hard here.

So they really are related? Huh. Well, I kinda sympathize with never gettin' along with parents, but Pops seems like a great guy all in all.

Squall has been a real prick lately and I'm not sure what all is goin' on but if I were you, I'd avoid him for a while until he pulls his head out of his ass. Its what I aim to do, and I thought we were pretty close.

You can't see the resemblance? Because I think Squall's a lot like Laguna! Just look at their personalities.

[Okay so yeah, they might seem like exact opposites, but they have to have something in common somewhere.]

Sounds best, I heard people've been acting super weird lately. I'm just not sure how well I can avoid him when he lives right across the hall.

Whatever he did, I'm sure he'll regret it when he's feeling more like himself again. Until then well, I dunno. Maybe we should avoid him together.

Uh...Their personalities are literal polar opposites. Aside from some basic facial structure I couldn't really place any resemblance at all. And I'm usually pretty good with that stuff.

But yeah. I guess it doesn't matter one way or the other. I made a promise.

I'll stick by him and do my best as a friend, but I won't have anything to do with him personally. i don't let people abuse me for any reason and he's lucky I didn't break his fuckin' neck.

[The fact that Roze took her quip seriously is endearing.]

It was a joke. I think anyone who seems them for more than a few seconds can tell they have almost nothing in common.

[All jokes aside, because this suddenly took a turn for the super serious.]

Its a long story I'd rather not get into, to be honest. He did something...

[ She sighs, clucking her tongue and shaking her head. ]

...nothing, nevermind. I'll get over it. He's probably just stressed out. A lot has been goin' on. I'm sure back home he's a real peach.

Anyways, you should get yourself good and settled in. Lemme know if you need anything? I'm up on the third floor at the far end of the hall.

[At the word peach, Rinoa smiles slightly.]

A peach? Well I don't know if I'd go quite that far, but he has his moments.

Actually, do you know where I could find a lock for my door? Apparently I'm going to be living with a sugar fiend. Seifer said to just don't bring sweet stuff home, but that's not gonna happen.

You live with Seifer? Little Squire is definitely all about treats. I'd think he'd be respectful of your things though. Seifer is too hyper critical of the little guy.

I'm sure you could find a lock at one of the shops in town though. They're pretty good about taking care of people's needs around here.

And don't worry, I'm damned nosy myself. Its no offense or anything. If I don't wanna talk I'll just say so.

[Living with the guy who tried to feed her to a giant musclebound sorceress is naturally going to be a little nerve wracking at first.]

Safer? From Seifer? Why...what'd he do? He's always been kind of decent as far as I've seen. What would make you worry about needing locks for?

It's kind of complicated. [She rubs her arms slightly, fighting off the sudden chill the memories bring with them.] What do you know about the stuff that's been going on where we're from?

Not much? Neither of them talk about it much, but there was a bad glitch and people's memories were leakin' all over the place.

Squall cryin' in the rain, Seifer gettin' brain-washed by some spooky witch. Stuff like that.

That's just like them alright. Sounds like neither of them knows the full story anyway. You could say I'm from the end of the whole mess, at least we thought it was the end anyway. Looking around here I'm not so sure it was as over as we all thought.

I know the sorceress had some control over him, but there's a lot of stuff Seifer did that was pretty awful.

Poor guy... [ she sighs, shaking her head, still angry with Squall and Seifer, but being Roze, willing to forgive in time. Feeling bad about something tended to help the process. ]

Hot Pops I think is from further down the line than they are. You oughta talk to him...maybe you two can clear things up.

I guess he has had it pretty rough. [Which has in turn made it rougher for everyone else naturally.]

Yeah, I'll talk to Laguna about making sense of everything. Though somehow I don't think it'll be as easy as just telling them everything that happens.

Oh, I wouldn't assume as much, but he can fill you in on how much they know. He talks to them a bit more personally, I think. I base my relationships with people on my connection with them and our shared times, not their pasts. I don't ask questions too much unless its something I really think needs to be talked about.

Seifer seems to be a pretty big fan of Hot Pops, and I know Seifer and Squall both stuck pretty close while Pops was dealin' with his arm problem. Your best bet is talking to him to find out where everyone stands.

Other than that I don't think I can be much help. [ She remarked with an apologetic tone, shrugging slightly. ]

If today's anything to go by, I don't think they're going to believe me even if I told them. [Which is frustrating, why can't Rinoa know some less stubborn guys? It'd make life so much easier.] Seems like a good idea to me. Sometimes it's nice to get a fresh start and it's hard to get that with people who know you.

That sounds about right! At least from what I know about things anyway, I'm sure there's a bunch of stuff I don't know too.

Are you kidding? You've already been a huge help. I feel a lot better and at least now I have a plan! [There seriously isn't much that'll keep Rinoa down for long. Girl bounces back from things like a freaking punching bag or something.]
