makoinfused: before words you clearly know how to say? (why do you say how do you say)

video;

[ The D-Terminal turns on to show Zack sitting on the couch, fiddling with his cellphone. He flips it open and closed a few times, looking more than a little exasperated when the screen remains blank. After a few seconds, he addresses the network; ]

Hey, did anyone else wind up bringing their cellphones here with them? I tried to check mine and it won't even turn on. I figured I'd at least be able to see my messages, even if I can't make any calls.

[ He flips it open again, pulls the battery out and then shoves it back in and still it won't work. Great. ]

So, am I the only lucky one having trouble here?

The D-Terminal's pretty advanced. Enough to have live video feeds, so... who's to say you there ain't a way to check the messages on your phone with this thing? It's got a chip or somethin' with the data stored, right? So maybe the D-Terminal could read'em. A longshot, but a possibility.

Ah well. Keep it anyway.

[ Though Seifer doubts he'd actually throw the thing away. ]

Maybe it's useless now, but ya never know what'll happen. Besides, there might be someone in this world who can get all the technology brought with them to work somehow. Til then, the D-Terminal's just as good.

How far do you think this thing transmits, anyway?

There's another island, but I dunno know the geography beyond that. If it's mostly water, transmitting between the two islands would probably be enough.... Not sure if that works out best for us, though.

Grouping everyone together has both pros and cons. We could either be sitting ducks for anything that might happen, or it'll bolster defenses. Communication's always a good thing, but if there's a cut-off point where the D-Terminals won't connect, it'll encourage people to stay in one place instead of exploring further away.
