[There's another recent arrival on-screen, this time a girl accompanied by a Gabumon.]

Being pulled from our home worlds and brought to a completely different environment, to meet creatures we never knew existed and save their home from a threat none of us know about.

That's quite a lot to expect of Children. [She's seen herself that not everyone fits the "14 and below" description, but such as the collective term for them stands.]

Because not everyone is capable of being a fighter. Sometimes they're too nice, or too wrapped up in themselves, or overall don't have the capacity for it.

Being a savior of the world is a nice tale, but not everyone can do that.

Well...not everyone can fight, sure. But fighting isn't the only way to save the world.

My partner, Fluttershy...she's not really a fighter. She doesn't like fighting things, and she gets kinda scared when there are battles going on.

But it's because she doesn't like hurting things that makes it so important that she's here. Because that means she's really good at making sure others don't stay hurt...She's done a lot of good taking care of people - the people who fight - when they're injured. So then they can go and fight some more, and protect those who can't.

So it's not always about fighting. It's just about finding what you can do to help.

[Blake is quiet, thoughtful for a few moments after that. But where she doesn't speak, her partner picks up the slack.]

How long has she been here?

[Hang on, he had to think about that for a moment.] Been about nine months...

Nine months?

So.. It could be a long stay, then.

Yeah. She was one of the first Chosen to arrive. A lot of people have gone back to their home world, though. So for some, it might not be that long...

I wonder what the distinction is.

[He shrugs.] Dunno. Sometimes it seems to happen randomly.

Like our arrivals in the first place.

Well, that's not so random. You guys are Chosen, after all.

So I've heard. Chosen for an unknown mission.

[She's not trying to be bleak, honest. Just stating it as she sees it.]

[Suddenly Sprout's face peered into the screen.]

Well technically, the mission is saving the Digital World. We just haven't figured out the how part.

I see.

Why are there two of you?

S'a long story...

[A momentary glance to Blake, and then Gabumon returns to Floramon.]

I'd... I'd be willing to hear it.

[Sprout paused a bit, sparing a glance at Choco, who simply shrugs. Then she turned back to Gabumon.]

Well...apparently there was this big bad Digimon who took all the Chosens' original partners, broke off a piece of their data core, and made f-...er, other partners for the Chosen. I think it was part of this thing called the SCOPE virus...? Anyway...

The Chosen who have been here longer actually started with these SCOPE partners, and didn't get the originals until later.

Since Fluttershy has been here so long, she first got Choco [She gave the Lopmon a little nudge, and he rolled his eyes.] Before getting her original partner...me.

Oh...

How.. how do you tell the difference?...

Well there isn't actually any real way to tell the difference. Even though Choco was taken from a part of me, he's still pretty real.

But ever since the rest of us originals have been freed, all the Chosen have gotten their original partners. There's a SCOPE version of you out there somewhere, though, I'm sure.

So I'm Blake's.. original partner. I- I thought so. I was just.. curious.

You really think there's a... SCOPE-me, though? [She almost shudders at the thought.]

Most likely. Some of the Chosen who started with their original partners have gotten their SCOPE partners pretty recently.



More than likely, the Digimon that started all this had gotten all the Chosens' original partners and made SCOPE versions. But when the originals were released, they're the ones who find the Chosen first.

That implies that our number was capped from the start, and rather than being chosen at random, we're simply brought in in waves.

[That's what it sounded like, at least. If someone had all the partners, then everyone here has had their names down the entire time.]
