I'd greatly prefer not to be here right now, but Kokuwamon has told me that I should formally introduce myself.
My name is William Flemming. I was brought here quite against my will--
[At that, Kokuwamon appears on screen behind him, waggling a robotic hand.]
That's not very nice! You shouldn't sound so mean!
Right. Fine. I was given that letter, but I would like to know what it all means. If anyone can tell me I would appreciate it.

i mean, it didn't seem all that complicated to me.
all of us get our partner digimon and digivice and it's up to us to help save the digital world.
pretty sure that's all it means dude.
text;
It's not like it's my problem, even if my partner wants to protest otherwise.
Why bring in someone like me? I have nothing to gain from saving the world.
text;
it's like destiny or something.
a digi destiny.
maybe the digital world couldn't give a rats ass if you're a selfish bastard who needs to gain something in order to be motivated to save a world.
probably why they don't give us a choice in the matter, though it's not really their fault.
complaining about it really won't get you anywhere, so why not just go with it?
text;
I wouldn't mind so much, you see, but this whole destiny thing has left my daughter an orphan.
text;
or something like that, a very short amount of time passing maybe?
like digital time and real time being different.
[That's how it worked in the show, right? Fuck if he knows, not like he ever really watched it. But he's pretty sure he heard something like that about it whenever he skimmed by it.]
text;
You're sure? She won't notice that I've gone?
text;
but i'd double check with someone who's been here longer to be positive.
i can understand wanting to get back to your daughter, i left behind a lot of people that needed me too.
i waited three years to see my best friend for the first time and ended up here right when he arrived, so i'm kind of anxious to get back.
but if there's nothing we can do about it right now, and this world needs us, then why not just go with it?
complaining doesn't really get anyone anywhere.
it just makes you seem like an ass if they don't know your valid reasoning.
text;
Why not indeed. You have a point.
text;
why not just spend some time getting to know your digimon better?
find out more about this world and maybe you can find out why you were brought here to help it.

I'll be honest, I haven't actually spoken with any of them.

Kokuwamon doesn't know anything, unfortunately.
[He smiles, surprisingly genuine.]
He's a softie.

I'll be sitting here not doing anything, then.
